25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
I still harbour a suspicion that if it was up to O'Shea, Hogan would still be the OC. JJ was probably making Hogan look bad.

There was some kind of weird things going on between Osh & JJ. I don't think they meshed at all. Too bad as I like him as a qb coach/OC.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Agreed, but his passport does give him some value, although this will drop his stock a lot. This may also smarten him up enough to consider a Bomber offer. Things have changed a bit since then, but there used to have little but contempt by American coaches and GMs for Canadian pivots.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Their expectations shouldn't be non existent but realistic. Elgersma's chasing a dream that is becoming a shadow. He has a soft landing spot with the Bombers to continue his career. Elgersma has no idea how lucky he is. My son was at the CFL Western Combine in 2015 & standing beside him not 15 feet away was Chris Jones. He never even acknowledged his presence as at that time CFL teams didn't draft Canadian qbs. Never said a word to Tyler. Tyler at the CFL West Combine in Edmonton, March 2015.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Apparently Elgersma is still trying to get a work visa so that might be why they brought somebody else in. If he's not able to get one before the season starts, they need a 3rd QB.

Gerry Datillio had a 10 year CFL career and was the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian and a CFL East All-Star in 1980.

yeah I checked the Transcona page on facebook, alot of people are disgusted by this, and he wanted to run for Mayor on the platform of getting rid of the Primary Transit Network....yeah you ain't getting that job now seriously though they need to find a solution for those that are struggling with it, me on the other hand am still having no issues with it at all, the buses are usually on time and the trips are rather quick

Yes, that's his family's business. He worked there before getting into politics.

Is his family the Wyatt of "Wyatt Dowling Insurance"? I'm certain that's where my folks have insurance through (they live in good ol' T-Cones...) and I never connected the dots til today...

I am pretty sure this money is from the team's share of the 50/50's. I think I paid for a couple of the helmets.

If he decides to run again, he will probably win, unfortunately.

Will T-Cona vote him in a 3rd time after his 3rd time being accused of sexual crimes? :D

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Idk how they run their camps down the UFL, but a 4th arm for camp would make a lot of sense. It is a shorter, earlier season so I can see not needing 5, but just 3 would be pretty surprising to me. Still, to your point, Elgersma has to be expected to be the 4th man on the chart. 99% of the time, especially in this day and age of the cfl. Yep. Even pro polish. If im looking at a guy who had a so so camp and some good pre season action, vs a guy who sat on a PR for 2 full years im gonna lean towards the guy with 2 years too. Right decision, love that guy, hope he has a brilliant post playing life and maybe coaching career. Or just volume. Especially if you need to push Wrs/Dbs. You need arms to do that.

Not necessarily. They have 3 QBs on the depth chart. They could be looking at replacing #3. I agree with the rest of your take though.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Elgersma not impressing if they bring in a new QB already. Honestly. If he comes up here he’s prob last on the depth chart also. Zach UFL mvp Thorne and Wilson all would be ahead of him in terms or development in reality. I guess in reality a Canadian trained QBs expectations should be non existent since really when’s the last time a truly Canadian trained QB consistently started and won games. Rourke was ncaa. Ford? Replaced by the Faj. Is it Russ Jackson? That’s long long long time ago. Only advantage might be field size but they changing that. Changed that so no real advantage .

JJ wasn't in our plans obviously. I don't think his stay here went as envisioned by either side.

Wahlin a ppg player in ncaa from Minnesota. He’s 24 tho kinda like Tanev when we signed him. There’s some skill there. Could be a solid bottom 6 winger like Tanev was at first.

He has never played 3 down ball either. Playbooks in the CIS and CFL are light years different. The only advantage he has is knowing the size of the field, and being used to the extra attacker. Other than that he will have the same adjustment to a CFL offence as any of the QBs coming from NCAA. His injury was your typical career ender. I thought if anyone could rehab and tough through it was him but the human body has it's limitations I guess. Too bad, great guy.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Maybe...he's only played 3 down ball. Not beating out Americans who have more experience than him at the game they are playing won't change how I think of him as a potential CFLer.

Looks like Streveler is calling it a career. Posted a video on TT. Getting injured is not the way the players should go out, but that's the reality of a contact sport. Much respect for everything he's done for the community and the team.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
You really like to argue. Sure, some situations are better for the backup QB, but most situations require QB1 getting hurt for QB2 to get any significant reps. If you don’t agree, that’s fine.
