All the attack ads do is tell me how scared Harper is of his opponents and, because of how transparently shitty they are, make me want to vote for anyone but him...

I guess you don't want to vote for anyone then.
Those are dumbass commercials. And only dumbasses believe them. They make me want to vote for Trudeau just out of spite.

Only dumbasses believe Justin isn't ready to be PM? Lol. I'd say you've got that backwards but I'm not here to insult people.

You're insulting our intelligence by defending that ad.

Only "dumbasses" believe his main priority is legalizing pot, or that his only thought on foreign policy is sending winter jackets to Syria.

And I'm less concerned with his personal beliefs than who he has as a cabinet. If he's got the best possible Finance Minister, that's gonna go a long way to gaining my vote...

Everyone hates the Conservatives and their attack ads... Well does anyone remember why they jumped on the bandwagon for them?

Here's a refresher,

the fact is attack ads worked and the Liberals for years painted Harper and the Conservatives as the socialist boogeyman to the point where people STILL believe that crap. It's worked for the Conservatives too though, they controlled the perception for Dion and Ignatieff from the get go and they've probably done the same with Trudeau this time around. It's the old repeat something often enough people will believe it.

You could shorten your post to: "People are ******* ******* and will believe anything you tell them"....

All the attack ads are absolutely stupid. Let's cut and paste his/her speech to make it sound like they are going to grind us into the dirt.

I'd like to know who the morons are that fall for this. Then deport them to the U.S. where they belong. :D

I said the same thing to my wife this morning. Only morons fall for these ads. We must be a country of morons.

You just figured that out now?

I remember this ad.

at least Harper's attack ads don't attempt to frighten us with death military control. I'm all for more bases.

Going to st.Paul's in high school I used to see the soldiers from kapyong training and running in the morning. Safest neighborhood in the city.

^^^^That was the Liberal attack ad on Harper years ago.  It showed troops and had a serious voice saying a vote for Harper was a vote for soldiers in our streets.  That was during the "Scary Harper" days.  Once he won and people realised he didnt have a secret agenda, it lost some steam.

At least the "Justin" commercials have merit because he's clearly not mature enough to be PM.  The soldiers in the streets commercials (and the rest of the Scary Harper stuff) were all made up.

So it sounds like the debate was all about perception.  if you're left leaning you think Mulcair did well.  if you're right leaning you think Harper successfully defended his position.  I was listening to CJOB discuss it briefly this morning and the woman (dont know her name as I dont listen often) tried to say Harper was condescending and Cloutier cut her off.  She also said May was willing to admit when others made a point (May is there to try and beat Harper, she wants Libs or NDP to win).

It sounds like Trudeau didnt do well aside from his "No one believes you" line.  His closing remarks were just awful.  He has acting credentials...well, he over-acted big time with his dramatic pauses and unnatural smirk, his super-serious voice...and ofcourse "Vote for me because I love Canada".  *rolls eyes*

I wonder what it would take for the Liberals to ever move away from Justin.  Because Mulcair came across fair, reasonable and as some are saying "Primer Ministerial".  If he doesnt have any Angry Tom moments, even if he loses to the Cons, you have to think the NDP under Mulcair have a lengthy future as official opposition.

Reading a CBC story about the debates and something I didnt know:

Mulcair, whose NDP would let Quebec separate from Canada in the case of a clear 50 per cent plus one vote in favour

I know Canadians are tired of hearing about Quebec separation but my Goodness, there's enough of a reason to vote against the NDP.  If the NDP numbers tumble in Quebec will he promise to let them separate without a referendum?

I still don't understand why Quebec would want to separate from Canada?  What do they have there?  Tourism?  Maple syrup?

Its not that they want to truly separate.  They want to separate but continue to be propped up by Canada.  Its disgraceful.  If people in Quebec want to leave Canada, its an easy plane trip to somewhere else.  But the province belongs to all Canadians.

@manny_ottawa: @pmharper "How can you identify voter fraud without being able to identify the voter" line stumped Justin. #macdebate

I heard a bit about this. Is the liberal position really that you shouldn't have to show ID to vote?

Yeah i don't know how anybody can object to having to produce id to vote. To call it racist or unfair is just being stupid or naive.
