According to a CFL source, the Blue and Gold have agreed to terms with pivot Dominique Davis, who was in training camp with the Calgary Stampeders this month.

Winnipeg already has four quarterbacks under contract: Drew Willy, Brian Brohm and Robert Marve are active for Saturday?s season opener against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Josh Portis is on the one game injured list but healthy enough to play.

Davis, who is 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, completed nine of 10 attempts for 75 yards and a touchdown in Calgary?s first pre-season game. He also had three carries for 11 yards.

The 25-year-old played at Boston College, Fort Scott Community College and East Carolina before signing with the Atlanta Falcons and spending two years in the NFL. He tried to latch on with the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts last season but didn?t last long with either club.

I'd be willing to trade Brohm for a defensive starter or for a 1st round pick which gives us more options come drafting time. If the news is true we are already signing another quarterback to the PR so they obviously know that one of our QB's are not going to make it

That's nothing. Why would you want to give a team their potential starting QB for the rest of the season for such a low price? If we're going to give away our QB depth, it better be for a kings ransom. 2 first round picks or a first and two seconds. That's the starting point and it only goes up from there.

 

 

If we could get that for Brohm I sure hope Walters would take it.

 

 

 

With Clemons being released, it's becoming a concern that the scouting team really can't scout CFL calibre WRs.

Agreed. I'm willing to give Veltung more time at receiver before passing judgement but he seems to be more suited to a DI role at PR/KR. This will make two years of swings and misses at receiver recruitment. That's not good.

Or maybe it was his girlfriend?  Wasn't she a piece of work?  Filling his head with a bunch of BS.  Maybe I'm thinking of someone else....  Or maybe I'm way off...

It was obvious that Portis had shown that he had hit his ceiling and it wasn't high enough. From the short video clip, Davis looks like he's a run-first quarterback and in the CFL, that isn't a compliment.

Easy for a QB to look good with Calgary...  and hard to get any read on this guy from his highlight reel - its actually a bit scary if those are his best plays.  We'll see - think I'd rather have Yantz

You never know. Crompton was the Esks 4th stringer when he asked for his release.
