Says a lot about going with conventional wisdom and drafting an OL at number 2 instead of getting starry eyed for a local boy as well. I get an impending sense of doom from the Bomber fans in the alternate universe in which we picked Demski at number 2. If anyone was to be traded once all things shook out after camp and we could determine that we did have some roster and ratio flexibility with the O-linemen then truth be told it would probably have been Neufeld on the block...not Greaves. If we have learned anything over the last few years it's Greaves is dependable and not prone to missing time. Also been more than adequate and that's been playing alongside garbage that affected his performance. Need to remember he is a D-line convert and learning as he goes...apprenticing on the fly so to speak. So this year, with the dudes beside him his game should elevate and he will and should hit his potential, and next year if our two new recent pics continue to develop and push him out of starters role and we draft and develop another newbie, or acquire via free agency another younger cheaper canuck, well then he can be trade bait for a new need, as he would be a costly 6th or 7th olineman. Kirk Penton may not invent stories, but Kirk can get burned just as easily as any other media member by sources he previously trusted. Gimme a break.. anytime you hear someone is on the block it is based on rumours. Choose to believe them or not but Penton has shown he has good sources and he doesn't make stuff up. Maybe teams were inquiring, maybe Walters was inquiring if teams were interested. We don't know... but if Penton says talks took place, then you can take it to the bank. Knowing the (lack of) quality non-import depth we have along our offensive line .. question marks surrounding Neufeld's durability and Goosen's (and our rookies) ability to make the jump .. do you sincerely believe that Greaves was going to go anywhere? Or is it more likely that a reporter was looking at a scenario .. maybe heard that a few teams were kicking the tires .. and said reporter was simply connecting the dots and then asking question, "Would this make sense?" Just being "on the block" doesn't mean "OH GOD SOMEONE TAKE THIS PLAYER", it means conversations were taking place. And I believe they were. Not my fault that you're so desperate to believe that Walters would never do anything that doesn't directly line up with your thought process. Funny how Penton's version is based on sources, which he has proven he has, and your version is based on "this is what I think probably happened."
