Well I finally got to see a movie at the newest theatre in Winnipeg....those seats were comfier than I thought they were going to be. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret was worth the wait (it also helps that I was at a mostly empty theatre it's more likely going to attract that adults that read the book)

nah I looked into it we gotta take the food we order into the theatre with us...but then again I was just in a regular theater with the reclining seats

Just got back from  Mario. Garbage story but entertaining enough and the kids got a kick out of all the references. I think they could make a half decent sequel now that the world building is done.

Nope.  They may have in theatre food/drink service one day (it was advertised as a feature when it was announced) but it's not a thing yet.

Landmark now has "premiere" seating which has the heated seats and stuff.  Checking out Dungeons and Dragons there tomorrow, and will be in those seats so we'll see how they are.

I mean at least none of the theatres here have a clubhouse feature (look it up, trust me with something like this I doubt kids would even want to bother seeing the movie)

Or Greenlight other animated films in Nintendo's library (I can see Donkey Kong Country happening, even though I consider Len Carlson to be K.Rools true voice after being exposed enough to the Nelvana series....not to mention Zelda, or whatever that Harvest game is)

Once you sit in a place like this...

you never wanna sit with the riff-raff again :P

this feels like a one-note-premise that's going to get old really fast..... not sure, but a hell of  cast.

Charlie Day has pretty cool comedic mind.  I'm not so quick to dismiss this.

On the subject of Barbie, not sure a long "I am going to beach you off" joke was the right preview to play before a kids movie.

They either get it or dont get it.

Well all the action is in the 2nd part :) Lynch did a half decent job when you look back at it considering the FX at the time.

Agreed about Lynch's version, but I was referring to last year's film with Timothee Chalamont.

Me too.

But Dune part one was directed by Canadian Dennis Villeneuve, I believe.

So.... I saw Fast X. Sigh.

Here's the thing.... Generally speaking, I am a big fan of this franchise. My wife LOVES these movies... I will go to bat for Fast 4-6 as among my favourite action movies. 7 was the last DECENT one (relatively, to the rest of the franchise) and they just started getting epic-ly stupid. Fast 9 is one of the worst big-budget, tent pole films I have ever been witness to. I felt sad for everyone involved.

So anyhow, I'd read the reviews for Fast X and just how truly awful it was..... And here's what I'll say:

It's dumb.... You have to go beyond shutting off your brain. The list of things that make ZERO sense is a mile long.

Having SAID THAT..... I have spent far worse time in a movie theatre. It's definitely a step up from 9, a bit of a return to "form" for the franchise. Jason Mamoa is having more fun in this movie than I've seen anyone have in a long time. There will be some weird comparisons made to Ledger's Joker, that Mamoa is going for the same vibe but doesn't have the pure evil gravitas that Ledger brought to his villain.... But I don't think that's a fair comparison.

I feel like Diesel really learned something from his MCU work and is going for an Infinity Saga thing to wrap this series of movies. X was his Infinity War and the next one will be his Endgame.

So I guess short story long, if you have enjoyed these movies in the past.... And you're willing to just "shut the brain off" for 2 hours, it's not the worst summer blockbuster. It's absolutely a step up from 9.
