Barron Miles to join coaching staff

Featured Replies

Awesome!

Great news!

I like it.

Only guy I would choose over Barron Miles to have as a DB Coach is Tony Missick. Great hire for the WBB.

i see we are missing two coaches still, d.line and linebacker coaches

at least that is what the web sight says, i guess we let the d.line coach go

Are we to assume Knox will be in one of those roles?

We probably could. I doubt he's here to be quality control or any oddball assistant roles.. I'd expect LB

We ought to have made him a lineman coach. Then he would be Barron of beef, but that's Myles away now.

edit dumb comment

Wonder if Jackson sticks around and becomes either dl or lb coach, whatever Knox isn't. I think its Jackson at least. Was defensive assistant I believe last season. Added him after or during training camp

Good move by the Bombers, I'm actually a bit surprised by the lateral move.

Rider fans are saying Miles was a great player but is a terrible coach as he can't teach.

Apparently, they were right, because Rider fans have not learned anything.

Here's what a couple Riders fans said about Miles:

Maybe the fact that in his time here they brought in like a million other DB coaches to hold his hand? Yeah he is great!

observers from early on indicated he was detached, uninvolved and not very vocal

I've read quite a bit from Rider fans on Miles, and some of it is definitely concerning. I am not sure I buy all of it though, particularly since almost everyone seems to speak highly of Miles other than them. Guess we will see what he's like in camp and through the year.

Talk about an extreme exaggeration. One season they hired a second DB coach and the guy was gone before his coffee got cold.

Id literally take the advice from my morning constitiutial over the advice from a rider fan, especially from homer.. Er i mean, riderfans.com

This is coming from a group of fans who were upset that Brandon Boudreaux didn't take a full page add saying goodbye.

I've now heard from a few different sources that Miles isn't a good communicator. This hire does concern me a little.

Are any of those sources people who play football and have been coached by Miles?

Obviously Richie Hall is comfortable with Miles. I wouldn't put too much stock into what Rider fans say.

Meh, since there are people on that site who believe that Lyle/Nate is a Bomber fan, I take what I read there with a far above average degree of skepticism.

For all the flack we give eachother about ragging on former Bombers on the way out the door, Rider fans are equally as bad, if not worse. Screw 'em.

If O'Shea and Hall think it's a good hire, I'll trust them.
