lol at the Toronto 50/50 numbers - just when you think Toronto can't suck any harder, that city just goes ahead and sucks even harder.

TBF, they've only had 4 home games due to the World Cup. Other than Hamilton, none of the eastern teams are doing particularly well in that area.

I don't want TBF lol

That's what makes sense.

Right, just like that time Bighill signed here after an NFL break....all the other GMs just sat on their hands it was only 1 GM that reached out to try and sign him. Thank god he did! Strev too. He didn't get any other offers. Actually, when it comes to any FA that the Bombers have signed, mid season or not. It was simply because no other GM made any other offers.

I'm not sure why it's so hard to believe that a guy who left a championship team would maybe want to go back to that team after seeing that the grass isn't always greener (no pun intended) in other locker rooms. Even if all things are equal, or unequal and the bombers offered more money...we've heard of players taking less to stay in B&G.

There is exactly zero evidence to suggest Walters did or didn't make an offer to him. To speak so confidently that he didn't is bizarre.

There is also zero evidence to suggest that he only wanted to go back to the Riders, but here we are. He left for the money. What makes you think that he wouldn't look at all offers? He could just as easily be Henoc Muamba, as Bighill.

Bighill was ready to go back to the Lions. We only signed him due to the fact we wanted Adam to play MLB and B.C did not.

not entirely true...BC couldnt afford him when he came free...the blew their wad and were tight to the cap..KW had kept a slush fund for exactly that purpose of a potential FA being cut free

So you're saying he got multiple offers and choose one team over the other...?

That's quite literally my point. WE DO NOT KNOW. But there are a few posters here, apparently yourself included that KNOW, KW didn't even try to sign him.

I never said we did KNOW. I think you're reading into my post something that wasn't there.

I'm sure B.C would have put in the effort if they really wanted Bighill back.

Did we have the extra cash to spend after Durant decided to take the money and run?

This made me chuckle... Wondering if they accidentally added the wrong Rucker and had to quickly dump the one and add the other...

Yes, Durant's money definitely played a role. Biggie even said himself the timing of things and the salary cap were the biggest reasons why he didn't go back to BC.

Just trying to keep up with Montreal!

Didn't Durant's abrupt retirement free up some space as well?

No way Walters tried to sign Baldonado. But that's okay we don't need him while our biggest rival in the West just strengthend their DL depth wise. We're always good. No need to sign anyone.

The savings on Durant were minimal as we had paid his signing bonus at the time of his retirement. However it would have accounted for some of Bighill's salary.

Semantics. Whether KW didn't offer him anything, or did and failed to get his guy, it both ends up with the same F grade for our GM. This whole you can't make a guy sign here might work for hockey, but in the CFL there is no excuse for losing out on a player if you want him bad enough. GM's are literally hired and fired based on their ability to get guys under contract. That may not be fair, but it most certainly is there job description. If they are good at it they will succeed and flourish, if they are not they will inevitably be replaced. Walters was very good at getting FA's here at one time. He does not seem to be that great at it anymore.

I see where you're coming from and even agree to a certain extent. But, I'm not sure Baldano (or whatever his name is) is worth breaking the bank for. He wasn't a well known name last year, and was part of the worst team in the league this year before going back to his old team.
However, you are correct that signing high value FA hasn't been strong the past few years.

Yeah not saying it was a dollar for dollar replacement but Durant bailing gave us some room under the cap that BC didn't have.

Cap doesn't matter until the end of the season. Everyone is under the cap until the end of the year. You make room as needed.
