25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread

Is this ever a guy we should take a run at? I really like Pokey as a receiver but not sure he's a 1A Superstar guy... Would you ever take a run at Hatcher as your #1 and then have Pokey and Demski as 2/3?

I hate change. This is going to take me like a year to get used to.

Can confirm - ran it through Google Translate and this is what came back:

  • Brady is the most complete running back in the CFL full stop. Rushing, receiving, blocking, no one does it all as well as he does.   Now that doesn't automatically make the contract he got w

Elgersma is an NFL Combine arm just throwing the ball. Will he get looks? Who knows. I do know the other qb there was a 2021 draft pick. Will he get a look as well?

Over the last 10 years not one QB invited as a combine arm has been in an NFL training camp the same year.

Shouldn't Elgersma be at the UFL training camp or something? Now, he's dicking around Birmingham?? Lol. Yeah, he's starter material for sure.

he def has a pretty high value of himself.....why who knows...guess you got to like his belief...but cmon dude....Look at things realistically

I will say again, too many people have entirely too much thought invested in a guy who is at best a prospect.

When he actually shows up the ln let's start investing time and effort into thinking of him, until then he really is a non-factor.

Yeah but what do people think he should be doing with his life? We should fill a 3rd thread with comments about him just to be sure

We need a third thread for sure. That young man needs to be informed even more about what's good for him.

Why are you knocking a future hall of famer?

He never signed in Birmingham, he was drafted by them but according to 3DN he never signed. If he is not there by now it seems to me that there is little chance he will be.

Elgersma is shitting all over the CFL. He acts like he's too good to play up here. That's becoming obvious to more & more people so hence the negative reaction.

What the hell are you talking about. He hasn't said anything negative about the CFL. He's just trying to land a spot down south.

Actions speak louder than words. He DOES NOT want to be here. Don't be surprised if we trade his rights to the Argos or Ti Cats for a bag of footballs.

He's looking for his best pay day. Can't really blame him. I'd imagine Walters gave him a pretty low offer given how much money we threw around so far this off-season. I agree with 17to85. He's not here so whatever.

This is what I'm talking about.... dude's trying to land in the NFL... he's deluded probably at this point but by god he's going to try. Doesn't mean he's shitting all over the cfl and christ chances are he never amounts to anything in the cfl either. So why waste all this energy on a guy like that

I get it's exciting because there hasn't been a lot of Canadian QBs in this era of the CFL, and then this decade we have Nathan Rourke, and then Tre Ford was looking good for a bit... and then we get Kurtis Rourke who had some Heisman heat, and the Elgersma who did well in CIS and had some scouts thinking he was something but people definitely need to settle down.

I think Kurtis Rourke almost has less of a chance to make in the NFL, being 25 years old and having torn each of his ACLs, but you don't hear Rider Fans wondering wtf he is doing up there.

Unfortunately, our rookie NAT draft scale dictates what we can offer him....and it ain't much. So S27 may have somewhat of a point. He isn't shitting on the CFL per se, but he is definitely not interested in our NAT draft contract. It is a 3 year contract and pays peanuts, one way out is to stick on an NFL roster/PR for one season, after that teams can negotiate their own financial terms and this is a possible reason he is trying so hard to just get an NFL look....to avoid making 80kish a year for the next 3 years. Shitting on the CFL...nope...shitting on what he is forced to play for for a good portion of his career...quite possibly.

If I were a betting man, I would wager that if we could negotiate his rookie contract and compensate him even 150k a year to come on board he would be here.

who really effin care's about a Canadian QB....like really....People need to care more about "legit" Canadian stars who are getting it done...for succesive yrs....Guys like BO...Demski...just on the Bombers alone....Skilled position guys...Valuable to a team's success guys...Why do people get fixated on a QB all the time....it's pointless and never gonna happen

Rourke is Canadian by birth only not by training and how/where he developed.....Ford...Yeah was all everything in the CIS...And hot assed garbage in the pros' and history and all likelyhood Elgersma will be too...He got the look he did, based soley on his body type as it fit what used to be the dream MFL stereotype, and even that is changing now and U.S trained and born guys like him are not the sure thing they used to be

We must have seen something in Elgersma, when we took a flyer on him in last years draft.....What we saw is never mentioned by our management ,other than the ol 'potential assessment' and that was good enough to make him our pic.....Now that available talent in last years draft must have been petty thin to take a shot at the guy....Other than an arm, what has he proven in his nfl attempts....If his failed southern attempts to crack a line-up continue, and he still shows a reluctance to come north and still gives us short shrift, I think we might have another Mulumba pic on our hands.....In that case it was play CFL east or nada....We might have to write this one off .....

Elgersma has never indicated that he would only play CFL East. Mulumba had the advantage of having actually made money in the NFL, so the CFL was take it or leave it. Elgersma, if he wants to play professional, has one real choice and no money banked to play games about it. Not the same at all.

Where can I pick up my refund for the time I wasted reading this?
