I think they are worried that Sergio punting would affect his kicking. 

Almost no one does all three jobs any more.

The Stamps in one day lost DL Jaylon Hutchings, Rec Mario Alford & LB Jason Roberts to the NFL. That's brutal. I don't care what people say about how great it is for our players to make an NFL team, this just kills interest in the CFL. And really hurts a team like the Stamps struggling to find relevancy in a local market where barely anyone cares anymore. It's like the Stamps are perpetually rebuilding. NFL teams need to compensate CFL teams if they sign anyone under a valid CFL contract. This system is unfair the way it is. It could be us next time. Hate it.

Unfortunately, if that were the case, the NFL would likely just say screw it and stop even looking at CFL players at all.

Haven't they made the playoffs 20 out 21 years or something? Perpetually rebuilding is a bit of a stretch.

Losing guys to the NFL does suck, but it's unavoidable. Compensation won't solve the problem you're talking about and will just result in less americans who are on the brink of the NFL signing up here. It's not like the NFL is begging these guys to come to camp. They'll just wait out CFL contracts or move on to the next player rather than pay for a CFL guy.

on the flip...then they'd never get a shot as the guys that came up had nowhere to play....wont get a call sitting on their coach or delivering for Amazon

doubt it..we got compensated before....Receiver, off top my head forget his name...but I sure they not in the mindset for doing it as the norm

Why would they? That makes no sense. Paying a CFL team would be no problem. They look for athletes. If anything, they'd refine their searching & only bring in players who have a chance of making a team.

Where have you been the past 5 or 6 years? The Stamps have been horrible. They made the playoffs falling backwards last season after a fast start they totally fell back. . They were barely a playoff team.

If NFL teams had to pay CFL teams for the players, they wouldn't bother. They'd just bring in players that they don't need to pay for.

They've missed the playoffs in 2023 & 24. They got some momentum back last season getting back in but the 2025 season was like A Tale Of Two Cities as they got off to a fast start & then really limped in the second half of the season. Vernon Adams play really tailed off. Season ticket sales are up but now with those 3 stars gone, will that flat line??? Calgary used to be such a great football city. The Stamps were everywhere in the city when we moved here in 1990, especially when Flutie & Garcia played. Now it just sucks. Even the pro soccer team gets more coverage than the Stamps do. The Herald & Sun will send a reporter on the road with Calvary but not the Stamps. The team is invisible all year round. The loss of those players is really gonna hurt.

They would, nfl teams chase talent hard and invest massive sums in scouting out side the nfl. 
If it was a compensation based system it would likely be league wide, so they all split it after a year, wouldn’t even register to them. 

But, they would want considerable concessions in other areas we wouldn’t want. Mid season call ups, send downs, and rule changes.

Apparently Jovon Johnson hired as position coach for the Argos...

The 42-year-old has spent the last six years coaching at the high school and collegiate levels in the United States, most recently as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Gannon University."
