Super Duper Negatron Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago I hate almost everything about this team at the moment. The stupidity of going for that FG is even worse because it diminishes all the other stupidity we should be talking about MOS - the coach too chicken to throw his challenge flag, but too arrogant to punt. Incredible. Bubba Zanetti, wbbfan, Noeller and 3 others 1 4 1

Blue28 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago If you want to put in Strev. Have him run a short option rolling to the outside. At least you have a shot at converting it. please fire Hogan. wbbfan and BigBlueFanatic 2
JohnnyAbonny Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago (edited) 1. Demski- In consideration for MOC of the league. 2. Schmekel- Far more impactful than JT, and Lawson too quite honestly. 3. Wheatfall- Held on to the ball after some huge hits. This game probably took years off his life. HH- Ball for some solid ST play HM- Allen and Vaval. In their first starts, looked better than Parker and Bonds respectively. Especially Vaval, playing boundary corner (well) and returner as a rookie is pretty impressive. And if you have anywhere between 3/4 of a yard to a full yard left on 3rd you aren't going for it. Having streveler run with virtually every player on the field keying on him was very likely going to end up that way. Beyond stupid. And then going for the FG? The way Crum was throwing the ball it was very unlikely he was driving the field with the time left on the clock. Trying the FG gave them that opening they needed. Beyond stupid. wbbfan 1

17to85 Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago So Schmekel is basically a young Jake Thomas.... lot of hustle and effort. wbbfan 1
Sard Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago Gotta give Thomas some credit for a couple of plays today... chased down Dru Brown and stayed with him on his cut back, and then knocked down a pass on the next drive. Mark H. and coach17 2

I mean, Big Jake was given an unblocked clear path to the QB 3 times, but he did make the best of it. And I respect his heart for not giving up on that pursuit. Both metaphorically and literally. Brown was in control of that scramble, though, but when Adams was on him, that was running out of fear and survival. Damn, that dude is quick for a DT. Some of the most impressive physical displays on the field tonight, Jake running a marathon, Adams making brown look like Jake Thomas, Schmekel blocking the punt, Vaval closing out Pimpleton for the pkd, Zach running in general, Paddy running 25 yards downfield for a block, Sterns mossing Pickett, Adams and Person one punch move KOs of their OL, and Tony Jones knifing between two blockers, shedding a block and stuffing Stanback for a loss. Honorable mention to Demski for tearing up the RBs' D with YAC, routinely making them look silly. When the list of times you physically manhandle the other team in your 1-on-1 match-up is that long, you should win pretty handily. Eternal optimist Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago HH i would say Castillo. He missed that one pivotal FG but that was a dumb call and into the wind. His first FG was after that bad PI call... if he misses there, entire complexion of that game changes. Also, still hit the game winner when the chips were down. wbbfan 1
Goalie Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago (edited) HH is Vaval cuz without his returns we do nothing on O. 8 hours ago, Mark H. said: He said on the postgame that "he thought it was PI." And if people are being honest they would accept on replay the booth would have upheld the decision cuz the booth is there to basically back up the refs. We have seen this, we all know this. Osh challenges it, we lose it and then ppl complaining he challenged it. No winning there really. The booth will find even the slightest PI there to justify the on field call. bearpants Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago my biggest takeaway from last night is this is just a mediocre team... I have no idea how to fix it and make it a competitor quickly... but right now... we're nowhere near playing in our house for the GC... seconding what @wbbfan said about the list of good plays made by good players... no reason that game should've been anywhere neat close... especially with a replacement level QB leading the comeback... wbbfan 1

Guaranteed The booth is a coin flip, on if it will be a brutal decision or not. Then another coin flip on if you will win. I think a big part of the value of a challenge, though, is momentum both for your team and with the refs. When your team sees the challenge, they know you have their back, it fosters that us vs them mentality, and you can get some increased hustle/effort/heart etc if the team feels they should've won the challenge. The coaches are always working the refs as well, and when they sit and watch all the replays showing they were wrong, you have a good chance, even if you lose, of getting a make up call. Even though the review process is a farce most of the time, I think it's an important asset to use. Wasting it gives you nothing, and a double coin flip is more than nothing.

At this point, I think the shock of any shake-up will have value in the locker room. Imo, you ideally hit a Trade, a Cut, and a Demotion. Show the team, there is no such thing as good enough. I'd look to trade Strevy for another vet-ish backup, create a little QB room controversy. A dream cut would be Kola, of course, or Hogan. Demotion could be Hogan, or maybe Streveler, or a few guys.
