Born in St. Mary’s, Ga. Jones came north to Canada in 1983 after an outstanding career at Southern University. He wasted no time establishing himself as a force, leading the club with 17.5 sacks (back then the CFL credited half sacks) in his first season

incredible considering we have like 3 in 4 games lol.

No joke. Different era, that said we've struggled to find sack masters for a long time. After jones 87 season here with 15, I feel like the next big seasons where Swac with his 22 then Idk hunt in 2010? I feel like if I looked up the number of 12+ sack seasons in the past 40 years for the bombers, that I would feel woozy and depressed.

It’s unfortunate ty has psssed on and won’t be there in person but I’m sure the ghost will be there so that’s neat. Long over due tho. Why such the long wait.

He was an absolute terror in the '84 Grey Cup with four sacks.  I bet Dieter Brock still has nightmares about #35 coming at him.

How bout these stats, his 3 best years rushing the passer, he put up a total of 53 sacks. Tony norman is 2nd all time with a bomber career total of 59 sacks. So 3 years of jones would still be the 2nd best pass rusher in team history. WJ, working in his 6th season as a Bomber, has 44. Jeffcoats 6 6-year career totaled 38.  Brown got 52, swac and walls both had 47.

Jones put up a total of 15 picks in his career. He put up a receiving TD, a pick 6, and a fumble recovery for a TD. And talk about a guy who stayed on the field, a real throwback player even in that era.

I'd even settle for 2 or 3 of them!

Or 1. I think the whole league has 2 guys who, when they are on, are at that kind of level. Beverette and McManis. And both are tweeny wil/sam types.

Who was it that had the temerity to nickname Jones “Butt an’ Gut”? Was that West? 😆

Based on Walbys story within Tait's piece, it could very well have been Molle...

He was one of my favorite players of that era.  Him and Joe Pop.

That play where Jones crushed Dieter and Mikawos ran for about 70 yards for the TD on the fumble was the TSN turning point.

The bit about Bighill standing on the sidelines handing the Stamps info is just going to stir up all the crazies.... I just literally can't even.

I would say the early Ritchie era had one of the better DLs. Mostly due to Brown and Warner in the middle.  Those guys got consistent pressure, rushing 3 or 4.

His buddy James West should be in there as well.

I'm sure he will be but they only do one per year for the ROH (with the exception of 2016 when it was first created).  He's already in the Bombers & CFL HOF so the ring is the only thing left for him.

came from the line backing group

Jones used to during pre-game go out of his way to piss players off so they wanted to kill him....He said it took players off their game and responsibilities and allowed him to wreak havoc.

If Ontaria Wilson gets cut who do you guys think moves to slot to upgrade sterns?  Wheatfall or Wilson? I’m thinking Wilson because he’s a bit more physical that Wheatfall and if Wheatfall continues to have success there at wideout why mess with the chemistry.
