  • I liked the part where @SpeedFlex27 quoted himself so he could regale us with his illustrious curling memoir.

  • Whether he comes back to Winnipeg or not, Strev will be a Bombers legend for life, after that playoff run (and all he did within it) and the post championship celebration... Afaic, he is a Bomber for

Even if the CFL goes full stupid mode and Americanized everything (4 downs, essentially the same field & rules), it doesn’t make a lot of sense to make any sort of agreement or merger with the UFL.  If the CFL is in dire straits financially there’s no logic in merging with another failing league and adding 8 more struggling/bankrupt franchises to the mess.

Im much more inclined to think switching to the American game is a feeble attempt at aligning with the NFL and making the CFL into some sort of “NFL Canada” setup akin to NFLEurope of old.  Basically you play NFL rules on NFL fields in Canada, but the NFL farms out dozens of practice squad players to Canadian teams as a development league, while keeping a handful of Canadian players on each roster (probably a lot less with less stipulations on playing them though).

In return I could see the NFL propping up the CFL financially and maybe even expanding to Toronto and/or BC, leaving the remaining teams as a NFLCanada, the farm system.

Ufl is different. The franchises aren't necessarily broke. As they're all owned by the league or something like that. The TV deal they have with fox could be huge for the CFL.other than that, there's nothing though.

UFL is like an updated XFL. Owned by a dude and his ex wife and a tv station. It’s all about ratings and gate I’d assume. They doing ok in a few markets (st Louis would put 40k for the cfl ) but obviously not so well in 3 they just moved to smaller venues like oh I dunno the size of BMO or MCGill or Hamilton Stadium.

Any news on Elgersma. Lol

So Mike Kelly is the commish of a new summer league and they plan on implementing CFL rules for the 4th quarter.

Not sure how the hell thats going to go but I wish him luck.

Wow... thats all I got good luck UFL

I mean...I'd watch the CoFL before the UFL especially with those rules. Would be interesting to see how Offenses adjust and just how useful the waggle could be on an American field.

it’s interesting in theory, but in reality if you just use the waggle late in games players are not going to get adept at it. It’ll be one of those seldom used poorly executed things.

it’s too bad, a us league could do really well with a faster play clock, 3 downs, motion/wagle and a wider field.

Don't forget a longer field, goal posts on the goal line, and a 25 yard end zone. All key elements to exciting football.

went from gordon ramsay to 50 cent real fast, almost with a detour to biggie smalls.

Looked at it a bit, seems like it was a robbery which is wild he got shot 11 times to get jacked. And they got about 100k worth of stuff.

Glad it ended up not too bad all things considered

Tried out with LA Chargers (I believe) & Chicago Bears. (Yeah, good luck with that on both). Sure get the impression he doesn't want to play in Winnipeg.

His agent said Elgersma would have no problem playing for Wpg. once his NFL options are exhausted.

It really is hard to believe he doesnt want to come sit on the bench for 80k a year, compared to sitting on the bench for 960k.

Well he sat around all yr for 0k a yr this yr...on a hope and a dream...needs to realize his chance of anything even close to a week here...a week there on random teams as an undrafted Canadian qb...from a Canadian school is remote at best...

Nathan Rourke realized he was chasing shadows as well in the NFL.

They're on fumes now.

I won't ever fault a guy for chasing a dream.
