Lapo to BC?  I want to know what they are smoking at 3Down... there are so many other potential HC's for BC...  but hey, he has connections to BC, he grew up there, his wife is from there... oh wait.  I guess there is familiarity with Chungh... and having 1/5th of your SMS tied up in your QB and RG...  I don't think Lapo goes to a rebuild team when he can be on a contender... BC is not going to be a choice landing spot for an HC.  Maybe Maas...

Ed Hervey is the reason coaches will think twice about BC...

What contenders are hiring for HC? None that I am aware of. If you are suggesting he will stay in Winnipeg over going to BC as a HC....I don't think so.

Agreed, but someone is going to be optimistic/deluded enough to think he can make it work in spite of Hervey and take the job.

100% true - the attraction is just too great..but it may dissuade someone if they have other options.   Someone will always take the job though.

Mike Reilly has missed the playoffs two years in a row...he needs a team around him - granted he is good but he is just one piece and his $$ does impact the building of that team.

That roster is in rough in large part to that insane contract he's got. He's one of the best QBs in the league but he needs a supporting cast to succeed. It's going to be a tall order for whoever takes on the HC job in BC in 2020.

And Ed is going to try and buy his way into the playoffs again, but they need help at too many spots

Agree with that. But it's better to go on a team with a established QB than a team that is without.

If you're an aspiring HC and have to pick between between BC and Ott (the 2 current vacancies) what will you choose?

Ottawa who will be taking a legit shot at Nichols, Masoli or Arbuckle???

not that simple of a choice - especially with Hervey in BC

Lots of intangibles that us fans don't know about too...maybe not a slam dunk decision.

why was BC such a mess?  It was kind of odd to be honest.  Oline was terrible but still it is a bit puzzling

No guarantee that they will get either. Plus Desjardin's reputation will also shoo away players and coaches in Ott. Ask Campbell, Harris, Ellingson.

Also, I read that one of the reason for BC's mess is Claybrooks, that's why he's now gone.

Oline, Dline, LBs, Canadian depth, coaching.

they allowed Reilly to get sacked 48 times this season... and that was in 16 games! he had zero time in the pocket for the first 3/4 of the season... actually felt bad for him and the beating he was taking...

Agreed. That beating that Reilly has taken for the past couple of years has to have a cumulative effect and he ain't getting any younger, either. Hervey is not going to be able to upgrade the BC o-line immediately, so Reilly is probably going to get second and third helpings of what he got this year and last.

It’s worth noting that Mike Reilly switching teams led to Edmonton and BC’s playoff fortunes reversing.

How so? It's purely a coincidence. The Eskimos had a better record in 2018 (9-9) than they did this past season (8-10). The Lions simply won the season series last season despite also posting a 9-9 record, and thus won the crossover berth.

I think he means when Reilly left BC for Edm....

Edmonton with MR in 2018 - missed playoffs

BC without MR in 2018 - made playoffs

Edmonton  without MR in 2019 - made the playoffs

BC with MR in 2019 - missed the playoffs

small trend in play...could mean something..could not.   What it could mean is that MR on your team doesn't guarantee a playoff berth.

Worth noting Mike Reilly won a Grey Cup in Edm

And even worth remembering lot's of Bombers fan was mad when Mack did not take a chance on Mike Reilly
