ย

GAME 10 | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (5-4) at CALGARY STAMPEDERS (7-1)

Kickoff: 2:30 p.m., Saturday; McMahon Stadium
TV: TSN, ESPN+
Radio: CJOB
Vegas line: The Stampeders are favoured by 9 points.
Streaks: Winnipeg: 1L; Calgary: 1L
Home/Road: The Bombers are 2-2 on the road; Calgary is 4-0 at home.
Series: The Stamps lead the all-time series (since 1945) 110-91-0.
Recent history: This is the first meeting between the two clubs in 2018. The Bombers did win in their last visit to Calgary, with a 23-5 victory in wintry conditions last November 3rd in the regular season finale for both teams. Worth noting: the starting QBs in that game were Dan LeFevour for the Bombers (subbing for an injured Matt Nichols), and Andrew Buckley for the Stamps (who elected to rest Bo Levi Mitchell for the playoffs).

(Thanks Ed Tait)

How can it be a game day thread when it's not game day yet?ย ย

(Okay, I know I'm nit-picking).

i hope Matty has a good sleep tonight

Weather forecast not all that great - chance of showers and thunderstorm later this afternoon. But in Calgary you never know. Could be raining on the North side and sunny on the South side or completely the other way around. Not sure what to expect attendance wise.

Love it when we beat the Stamps. Doesn't happen too often but when it does - it's a beautiful thing. Go Blue!

Pretty confident man.

Here is to hoping Mr Nichols and the rest of the Bombers had a good sleep and are ready to go. ย This is a huge game for Matt after his whine.

If the players and coaching staff do their jobs well, Bombers can certainlyย win.

They're better in some areas,ย worse in some, even in some; overall no objective reason why the Bombersย can't win the game.

Maybe Lankford will justify their faith in him today. ( not getting my hopes up for that)

ย

If we can get pressure on Calgary like the Riders did last week, we have a shot.

๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จI would have done this sooner but it took me awhile to read through the thread title..๐Ÿ˜„

CFL.ca

Game Day Notes:ย  Winnipeg @ Calgaryย

๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จBL Mitchell has beaten the Bombers 9 times!..BUTย we HAVEย beaten him once..

๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จMatt Nichols has yet to beat Calgary in 7 tries..but that changes today!

๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จlast year, in the 2 games played, the TOP was exactly 30 minutes each.

- 5 Turnovers: Calgary's 5 Giveaways last week was just their second at 5+ in the last 4 years (the other: Nov 3/17 vs WPG).

- Game #101: This game marks the 101st visit by Winnipeg to Calgary in regular season play; Winnipeg is 34-66 in the first 100.

๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จBUT..

- Nichols 9-2 coming off a loss: Matt Nichols has had a remarkable run since July 2016 in the next start after a Blue Bombers loss as he will be doing this week. In his last 11 starts after a Winnipeg defeat the club has gone 9-2 for an .818 winning %.

Stopping Harris: With 3 games of 100+ yards this year, Andrew Harris now has 19 in his career. Only ONE of those (Nov 1/13) has come against Calgary. Here is a breakdown of Harris' rushing career as a starter since Aug 13/11; the Stampeders have held Harris to under 60 yards rushing in 12 of the 16 starts he has made against them. In 2018, Harris is averaging 88.0 yards per game.ย His average carry against Calgary's defence is almost a full yard less than against the other nine clubs.

- 3-1 in the last 4 games / 5-4 .555: The Blue Bombers have won 3 of their last 4 games despite the 44-21, 23-point defeat at home to Ottawa. It was Winnipeg's largest lost in their last 54 games back to August 29, 2015 (36-8 to Calgary). Despite that, their 5-4 record at the mid-point of 2018 makes it three years running and 4 of the last 5 above .500 through 9 games.

- Rob Maver Inside the 10: Maver has at least one punt pinning opponents inside the 10-yard line in 4 of his last 5 games and in 6 of 8 overall this year. He is #1 in the CFL with 7 of these 'I10' punts this year and with 70 since 2012.

๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จMedlock has 5 this year inside the 10

- Mitchell All-Time QB Win %: After last week's defeat, Bo Levi Mitchell's career winning % is now 63-11 .842 ๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จ (.840 after today๐Ÿ˜€)ย with a 7-1 .875 mark in 2018. Mitchell has lost consecutive starts only ONCE in his career (Oct 20-28/17) and that is a CFL record as well. He also an active 9-game TD pass streak back to 2017; the 4 TD

- Calgary not having a lead: Inย their loss last week at Saskatchewan, Calgary failed to lead at any point. For the Stampeders it was just the second time in their last 60 games that they failed to get ahead on the scoreboard at least once. The 40 points that they allowed to the Riders was the most they have given up since Jul 29/16 (41 to BC in a 44-41 win).

- Calgary Defence / 14-point Q1: Calgary leads the CFL in fewest points allowed with just 15.8 per game. However, that breaks down as an average of 9.2 points over games #1-5, and 26.7 ppg in the last 3 contests. The 14 points that Calgary gave up in the 1st Quarter last week were as many as they had allowed in the first 7 games combined in opening Quarters in 2018, and the most they had given up in any 1st Quarter since 17 points to Montreal on Aug 1/15, a span of 57 games.

- Deep completion 'D': No team has approached Calgary's ability to limit deep pass completions this year. They have allowed only 12 passes of 20+ yards to be completed in 8 games and just 2 have gone for TDs; the next fewest is by Hamilton and Toronto at 16.

- Deep completion 'O': Winnipeg and Calgary have been at the top all year in completing long downfield TD passes. Edmonton has 11 to lead the way but Calgary has 10 in one fewer game and Winnipeg has 9 TD passes at depth beyond 20+ yards. ๐Ÿ‘โ€๐Ÿ—จ๐Ÿค—

- Big play leaders: The Bombers and Stampeders are tied for #1 in the CFL making long gainer big plays with 29 each.ย

- #99: Spencer Wilson needs just two games to reach 100 for his career.

- Adam Bighill Top 20: Bighill has 57 tackles in 2018 and with that has reached #20 all-time with 566 defensive stops.ย

- Harris 7,060: Andrew Harris needs just one yard to pass Jim Evenson for #12 all-time in rushing yards.

That "whine" goes well with all the bitching and teeth-gnashing around these parts.ย

It's going to go up after today.

No excuses.ย ย  We are supposedly a contender.......ย ย ย ย ย  Just prove it.

Yes if we get Lapo's dink and dunk offensive scheme package today we're going to get smoked. Here's to hoping Lapo's dialed up some outrageous schemes to keep Calgary off balance whole game.

Those stats can't be right. Dont they know Nichols has played like ****. He couldnt possibly be 3rd in the league on deep TDs. Not possible. System is rigged.

Championships are won week 10 of the regular season. If they dont win this game. All is lost. Burn IGF to the ground!!!!......oh sorry just getting caught up in the hyperbole around here.

Obviously its' rigged against the 'Riders... did you see Mr. Dee's post? They aren't even mentioned in it!

Where have they hidden Flanders this week?

ย

Edit: Back on the PR.

No chance for Petermann to show his talents. But Lankford gets another chance.ย

Dressler and Poop Johnson are the scratches.

Interested to see what Foketi can do a RT,ย  Flanders should be in the lineup and Lankford should have been given his ticket out of town, but apparently the coaches see something.
