Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

Training camp is over .... adjustments have been made  and its time for the opening kickoff

Anybody change their minds on how preseason changed their expectations for this year .... Montreal thrashing Ottawa changed mine .... cutting Willy raise my hopes for the Argos .... Edmonton looks stronger than I first thought and Regina even worse

For the first time in years I am forecasting Winnipeg finishes first in the league  .. just an optimistic hunch .... I forecast these final standings:

Winnipeg

Calgary

Vancouver

Edmonton

Ottawa

Montreal

Toronto

Hamilton

Regina

According to Wikipedia: On February 16, 2017, Richardson was arrested on third-degree domestic violence charges in Hoover, Alabama.[62]

He was arrested but those charges were dropped.  It sounds more like a case of a crazy ex than a character issue (could very well be both though).

His ex (the same woman who accused him of assault) was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of criminal mischief only a month after Richardson was arrested.  She allegedly rammed her car into his when he was driving with another woman.

Washed up and/or criminal...?

What a bizarre move. Then again, Jonesy isn't becoming known for his smarts as a GM.

I don't care if Richardson was the nicest guy on the planet.

He was the 3rd overall pick in the NFL Draft and washed out after 3 seasons. He is *that* bad.

Yeah, he hasn't played a meaningful snap in what, three years...? Just a bizarre move by the Riders.

Cam Marshall has been decent and they signed LaFrance for big coin and don't use him, so the Richardson signing makes perfect sense. I mean when you can add a back who averaged 3.3 yards per carry, you have to jump at the chance.

The Riders have not filled the void of "washed up, retired NFLer" since Young went down. Jones is just filling out his roster.

Let's play a game called "Guess Which Way Trent Went"

BcEK79ZCAAEZJOr.jpg

Well considering the lanes that Sask's OL will open for him will be as big as the one on the left, he should be very comfortable in that offense.

I guess Chris Jones believes diversity means including washouts as part of the Riders strength...

All they need now is the T-shirts...

Awwww shucks Trent changed his mind. He didn't realize he'd have to sign for two years.

The former Alabama running back was planning on flying to Canada to finalize the deal, but has decided not to sign, Richardson told AL.com.

The reason, Richardson said, is because he would have had to sign a one-year contract with a team option for a second year, so he would have essentially been locked into playing two years in Canada if he did well.

That means the 27-year old Richardson, whose goal is to get back to the NFL, wouldn't have been able to sign with an NFL team until 2019.

Comical. LOL

Is Ryan Leaf in jail and/or sober?

He's actually worked with the NFL this last draft and mentored NFL hopefuls. He fully takes responsibilities for his actions and his career. He's really an interesting guy to hear talk. Very open and honest about his past and pretty intelligent too.

So I take it Chris Jones recently bought a used copy of Madden 25. Guess his copy of Madden 08 got scratched or something.

Jonestown fanboys running with the narrative this was all Murphy's doing... LOL

I wouldn't doubt it was orchestrated by Murphy.

Remember when he organized the signing of Pacman Jones for us so that Pacman could go online and stream to fans high as a kite talking about how he was going to play corner, receiver, kick returner, punt returner and score 4 touchdowns a game?

Oddly enough he's had a pretty good NFL career. The fact that was 8  years ago and he's still in the NFL. No doubt in my mind he would be a productive player. His speed was/is something else. Not like Trent Richardson who's a fat over weight running back who's skill set wouldn't even be suited for the CFL

I am still upset we didn't get pacman in for a half season.

That would have been a cherry on the **** sundae that was 2009.

If he was serious and if the Riders really wanted him they could have worked something out. He could have signed for two years like all rookies do but at some point the Riders could have put him on the practice roster. Then when he is added to the active roster he signs a new one year contract.
