  1. This is one sentiment that always drives me crazy, but it's so common that it's on the coaches to have the players ready to play. I've never played pro sports, I wasn't even good enough for university, but I've played sports and I'm a competitive person. I can't think of one occasion playing sports where the coach "had us ready to play" in terms of focus and motivation. If you're a competitor that drive comes internally. If the players aren't ready to play a game pitting their 7 game streak against another teams 9 game streak, in my opinion that's on the players. Just my opinion on that particular thought that comes up often in sport. Being ready to play is on the players, executing is on the players. Game planning and play calling is on the coaches. If guys are dropping passes or missing tackles that's on the players. If you're calling a 2 yard play on 2nd and long that's on the coach.
  2. I remember a time when we didn't think they could win 2 in a row.....
  3. I can't say if this is accurate off the top of my head, but for years it's seemed like Medlock has the best accuracy on 45+ yard kicks, which has been a definite need for the bombers who don't always get deep in the other teams end.
  4. To be fair right now there are 3 other teams that are .500 or better Calgary - Haven't proved we can beat them, which pretty much applies to every team right now BC - Haven't played them yet Hamilton - We've beat them twice So for teams that are currently .500 or better we're 2/3 Then there's the teams that are close Toronto - They could be .500 or better, but we beat them twice so they aren't Edmonton - They could be .500 but we beat them once Ottawa - Haven't played them At some point the wins have to count for something. We have 4 losses, 2 to the best team in the league, one to the defending champions who we've also beat, and an ugly season opening loss to Montreal. But Calgary is the only .500 team we've played that we haven't beat, and there are two teams who are below .500 because we beat them. I know it's natural as a bomber fan to just be waiting for the wheels to fall off ,and yes this was the "easy" stretch of the schedule, but news flash, it's not a bad thing (or even something that ever happened to the bombers) to win the games you're expected to win, we normally lose those.
  5. The win streak is 7 games. Only two other teams have 7 wins for the season. A win is a win. It's also hard to swallow using not playing Heath as an indictment of the coach when he's been on the team for less than a week
  6. Not sure why anyone is against the idea of keeping them around. We know they both took over a crappy roster that couldn't be expected to win a lot of games. The whole reason we hired a guy like MOS as a first time coach was to get our hooks into him because of his long term potential, not because he was already a great head coach. Why would you not extend him when he's a much better coach now than when he was hired, which was basically the plan. Start of the year I think a lot of people were hoping for an 8-10 win season, and expecting less from years of disappointment. We're sitting 8-4, and the schedule gets tough from here on out. But I think Walters has exceeded expectations for a rookie GM (especially a younger one who hasn't had decades of experience as an AGM or similiar), and MOS is becoming the coach we thought he could when we hired him, so why suffer through the growing pains to let someone else get that benefit. Sign them up, let them do what they've been doing. It's harder than anyone is mentioning to stick to the long term plan when everyone wants immediate results. The team is finally starting to see results from the plan these guys put in play and have stuck to. Unless we'd rather bring back Mike Kelly and Brendan Taman to run the team......
  7. I haven't decided if I'm driving down yet. The games I've gone to there have been decent, but the stadium isn't great. The Banjo Bowl was a great reminder of why I like IGF, fantastic leg room for a tall guy, and why when I'm in Winnipeg I turn down free Jets tickets (horrible leg room in MTS centre).
  8. I'll still be wearing my Denmark jersey and hoping he's in the game. He's the type of guy who could have a big game while the D puts more focus on Smith/Dressler.
  9. I'm flying westjet round trip for $198, two trips in September, that pricing out of Edmonton looks pretty common in October too. Lowest I've ever seen.
  10. You're in Calgary correct? Go book flights right now, round trip Edmonton to Winnipeg. Find a way to Edmonton bright and early Saturday morning, hit a 9am direct flight to Winnipeg. Sunday morning 6:25am flight back to Edmonton via Calgary, and as long as you didn't have to leave a car in Edmonton just end your flight in Calgary (it's cheaper than booking just Winnipeg to Calgary for whatever reason). You'll have your flights for $219, small price to pay. I got mine round trip from Edmonton, direct flights both ways for $198.
  11. I'm on a 6 am flight next Saturday to enjoy the streak going to 6
  12. Sure there are things to improve on, but it's a long weekend, the bombers won in Regina, the bombers have won multiple games in a row. I know people around here don't know how to do this, but try enjoy it. I'm on a 6am flight next Saturday for no other reason than to watch the Banjo Bowl in person, and whether it's by 3 or 30 I'll enjoy a Bomber win over the Riders.
  13. my favorite part of having Medlock is that there's so little worry when he goes back for a big kick. I can't remember the last time the bombers had a kicker where it wasn't gut wrenching to have to kick anything over 30 in a clutch situation. When Harris went down on the last play, I counted the game as won from that range before Medlock even kicked.
  14. It's how it works in the NHL as well. Chicago towards the end of this last season was looking at Panarin earning big bonus', and any amount that puts them over the current seasons cap is reduced from the following seasons cap, which in the NHL they have to be compliant with to start the next season. Like others, have no idea how this plays out in the CFL
  15. no, but they'll have your retirement paperwork ready to go
  16. not going to LDC but booked flights for the banjo bowl today. Got round trip to Winnipeg for $198 so couldn't pass it up
  17. I'm just glad Denmark is back. Bought a Denmark jersey end of last season
  18. I'm somewhat impressed the league even caught it
  19. due to the weather delay my pvr recording ended with 17 seconds on the clock, and my reaction was but i need to see how we blew this in the last 17 seconds.
  20. thanks for the clarification. I may have missed them talking about it, I got home an hour into the game was was skipping time between plays and all of half time, got caught up to the live feed by the 4th quarter.
  21. I know they changed it at one point to specify you could come back in if pushed out, but not if you went out on your own. I don't follow all the rule changes closely, so it's possible it was changed again
  22. on the topic of calls that may not be correct -and I haven't gone back to watch this again- early in the game, the fumble recovered by (I believe) Wild, should that not have been illegal participation? I thought he went out of bounds and came back in to recover it
  23. *edit* point was already mentioned but i missed it
  24. I don't think they would. They acquired his contract. So if he wants to play in the CFL it's for Sask, but they can't force him to play. I must say I enjoy this.
  25. back to back wins? I would like 1 win please. No need to be greedy
