baxter reacted to SpeedFlex27 in 3 stars + HH first game
First game. Two week layoff. A lot of the vets didn't play much in the pre season so as Dressler said in his post game interview with Bob Irving, there was some rust that had to be worked out.

I'd be surprised if Kevin Glenn is even 5'10. He's done ok.

29 isnt a plan to replace the NI age. Not to mention there are 2 rbs that should be available with a depth pick that would be fantastic to round out our back depth and play teams. Plus our ni depth on D.

An interesting read and watch. I cant imagine a dude that big on a moped xD. In his case i think the description would have included the fact hes the size of a VW bug.

I was really pulling for a tie. Ah well, they're still just 2-10!

baxter reacted to ALuCsRED in Miller starting contract extension talks with Walters O'Shea
I'd lock them both up now. Their teams are competitive, their players play hard for them, their players are outstanding in the community, and if we don't sign them, someone else will be rewarded with wins down the road (from the "rookies" that we've watched develop in front of us).
Take a look at the options out there. There aren't many who are unemployed (or will be unemployed) that I want to replace this group.
Winning, young, and Canadian. Can't beat that.

Not sure why anyone is against the idea of keeping them around. We know they both took over a crappy roster that couldn't be expected to win a lot of games. The whole reason we hired a guy like MOS as a first time coach was to get our hooks into him because of his long term potential, not because he was already a great head coach. Why would you not extend him when he's a much better coach now than when he was hired, which was basically the plan.
Start of the year I think a lot of people were hoping for an 8-10 win season, and expecting less from years of disappointment. We're sitting 8-4, and the schedule gets tough from here on out. But I think Walters has exceeded expectations for a rookie GM (especially a younger one who hasn't had decades of experience as an AGM or similiar), and MOS is becoming the coach we thought he could when we hired him, so why suffer through the growing pains to let someone else get that benefit.
Sign them up, let them do what they've been doing. It's harder than anyone is mentioning to stick to the long term plan when everyone wants immediate results. The team is finally starting to see results from the plan these guys put in play and have stuck to. Unless we'd rather bring back Mike Kelly and Brendan Taman to run the team......

baxter got a reaction from Brandon in Lawless says there is trade market for Willy
Irving tweeted. What is it with more Drew Willy speculation. Once and for all Drew Willy is NOT going anywhere this season - end of story.

baxter reacted to basslicker in Glenn To Alouettes
Often, I remember KG's post-game comments being about how football doesn't really matter, or saying how it wasn't his fault etc. He never really owned up to mistakes or became a leader anywhere. That's why he floats around.

baxter reacted to Geebrr in Marc Trestman to the Riders in 2016?
Lawless said Chamblin and Taman out, and O'day replaces Taman. Nailed it. Regardless, the guy you are putting faith in clearly has no contacts, even from the team he works for.
He has zero credibility

Benevides is only 46. Still a young mind to me.

baxter reacted to USABomberfan in Redblacks @ Argos / Stampeders @ Leos - Rick Campbell's Last Stand & Race For The East
I suspect Calgary will be sitting most of their starters for this one, they already are the West hosts for the final, no need to win this one.

baxter reacted to gbill2004 in Quarterback controversy?
I'll take the side that if Brohm looks great and the Bombers win, O'Shea stretches out Willy's hand injury another game to get Brohm another start.
Getting way ahead of myself here, but if Brohm finishes the season strong, could make for an interesting training camp battle next year.

baxter got a reaction from iso_55 in Bob Wylie 2014 Midterm Report Card
I was going to comment, but this sums it up for me. Give Wylie me, you and 3 other guys off this forum as his starters and i don't care how good a coach he is, we won't win.

baxter reacted to Tracker in Game Day Thread - Montreal @ Winnipeg - 7:30pm
Have to disagree with you on this one. We lost to both Sask and Toronto for the same reasons: Willy was under pressure all night, we couldn't stop the run when it mattered and we couldn't run the ball to save our lives.
Expect Montreal to follow the same game plan that the Roughies and Boatmen used, and if Bowman has the same success as Chick did, we're in big trouble in this game.
If Montreal wins, they have a chance to both save Higgins' job and the season. If we lose, the next time we look up we could be on a six game losing streak and seeing the playoffs disappearing in the distance. Confidence is a fragile thing sometimes and if the Bombers don't win convincingly tonight, its gonna be a long season from here on in and we could be 7 and 11 at the end.
