  1. I really don't think the tough love approach works these days. athletes these days are much softer than they were in the past. You could whip them boys in the past with well whips and they would come out the next week and respond, you do that to todays athlete and you probably don't get much reaction. You probably get the opposite actually.
  2. alright let's pretend the offence sucked, hamiltons did too and if it wasn't for a special teams block leading to hamiltons only td, we win. Special teams unit can wear the goat horns again in my opinion.
  3. Lol. why bother.
  4. Honestly, the biggest WTF this game was "we can't review due to technical difficulties with the command centre". WTF was that about. THAT IS BUSH LEAGUE STUFF. The Command Centre uses the same TSN feed for reviews. So without the TSN feed to review. They couldn't review it. It's quite simple actually. thats very bush league then to be relying on the tsn feed, why bother going to the command centre then, why not go up to black and forde to make the call then. The play is under review by the tsn announcers is what they should be saying then.
  5. Im curious why people always want to blame one guy after a loss or a few losses? their arguments never really make sense. It's never just one guy or one play.. could be argued at times that our special teams play (in general) has cost us some games but... i'm blaming the entire unit, not just one guy. Don't like the blaming one guy thing in very much the ultimate team sport cuz it rarely to never is one guy that cost us the win. Today? I'm gonna say it was special teams (in general) and i'm gonna say our oline crapped the bed a wee bit too.. same old problems really. Blaming willy? i dunno, maybe he deserves some praise for having the BALLS to play behind that swiss cheese oline. Pretty tough to get going when you basically on every other play (especially in the first half) have a guy in your face 2 seconds after the ball is snapped, hell 1.5 seconds. Oline is the biggest issue, without an oline, your offence will struggle at times. The best teams in the league, calgary especially, what do they have? a great oline, sask a great oline. The oline matters lots. we have a below average oline.

  7. I'm not sure who was responsible for the blocked punt but we need a dedicated long snapper. Having Ian Wild doing the job is just too risky. Signing Chad Rempel would've been a great move. tsn guys were blaming lirim, it was a bad snap though. said lirim should have recognized the pressure and adjusted and kicked the ball to the other side... however, in my opinion he probably didn't recognize it because he had to basically grab the ball off the turf first.
  8. lol i agree but the reason the refs are so awful is because they don't get 1. paid enough and 2. enough training. it's not a job for them, it's just like delivering flyers for a few extra bucks a week. Until they actually invest in training the refs better, this inconsistency and incompetency will always be there.
  9. are you a doctor? Did you examine him? I'm sure they aren't risking his long term health for a non divisional game. Yeah... the bombers have never done that with QBs... Who did the bombers do that too in the past? Pierce? he was healthy, just prone to injury. Not like the bombers knew he'd get hurt, probably thought he might cuz he had a history of being hurt quite often, but Willy doesn't and Honestly, i doubt the coaches/trainers thought Buck would be hurt as much as he was. He's the only recent qb i can think of who they might have played when he was a little banged up but never with a serious injury, just minor ones, if you can suck it up and play, the football rules seem to say.. YOU PLAY!! And the other thing is, every football team in every league in the world (north america lol) do the same. If your starter is ready to play and he passes all the stuff he needs to do, that guy will play. Don't matter if it's the Bombers or the Steelers or the Saints or Lions(both CFL AND NFL) , if their starter gets hurt, he's back the second he's deemed ready even if some of us outsiders don't think he's ready and that's what we all need to remember, we are outsiders, they didn't say much about the injury at all, believe they said Sprain, that's it, any legit doctors in here? what the **** is a sprain really? Sounds minor. Dont matter if its drew willy buck pierce peyton manning ricky ray, name a guy, matt stafford, the second he's deemed ready by those with more knowledge about the actual injury than we have, He plays. It is what it is. If it was major, he wouldn't be playing.
  10. After watching most but not all of the game, i don't understand how Montreal keeps winning but i can definitely see how Ottawa keeps losing. These guys are playing up the Expansion team factor too much, Don't think some/most/all of the mistakes Ottawa are making to lose these games is because they are an expansion team. It's because of coaching and just mental lapses, how can u blame a bad snap on them being an expansion team? Veteran Gott to Veteran Burris. Flubbed.
  11. redblacks threatening with 2 seconds left. And buriss is sacked on a bad snap, illegal formation ottawa penalty. Game OVER.
  12. Burris hurt, out in the last 3 minutes, get crushed and then leaves the game, refs call a penalty for roughing only after seeing burris not getting up. Not sure i like that call, call the penalty not the "injury" to the qb... Did seem like a bit of late hit or head shot but refs fault for not blowing it dead and now ottawa gets stuffed on 3rd and 1, hand off in shot gun, loses yards. Christ.
  13. Easy solution. Go to the game live. Would love too but... got things to do until about 430. Can't make it to as many games as i've wanted too. Family and Life get in the way of going to games at times.
  14. I think Willys injury was minor and i think some are over exaggerating the extent of his injury. It's not like he got Lulay'd or anything, he got a sprain, believe thats what they called it at least, a sprain. Basically the best type of shoulder injury you could have. Think if we had a game last week, Willy wouldn't have played but i think the extra week really helped his recovery out. Not sure what the guy did during the bye week but my guess, bust his ass hardcore so he could be recovered in time for the next game. I highly doubt the team or Willy himself would risk significant long term damage, I mean, if it was as bad as some think, don't think he'd be playing so it was obviously a pretty minor injury.
  15. Rod Black is ridiculous but we all know that. Definitely makes watching the games tougher. Scares me as i Think we get black calling our game tomorrow.
  16. Montreal probably with several fields to not as many field goals Edmonton probably over SASK altho think Edmonton has not looked that good the last few weeks, think they have been a bit exposed to be honest. Very good record vs the east like every other west team but a losing record vs the west.
  17. They could give these guys their 9 games thing or whatever it is and if they look like they belong, keep him. If not, send him back. I'd rather guy with guys like Lowry and Petan who could rise above the third line, even contribute on the power play in Petans case over career bottom 6 players for sure.
  18. Ehlers skill is off the charts right now, dude has a ton of talent, just needs to get bigger.. No chance he makes the team this year, just looks to small, but.. has had opportunities to light the lamp this pre-season so far but hasn't. Still, give that guy a year to get bigger and yup, he'll be a difference maker. Petan looks really good to me, looks like he's at home on the power play and looks like he is a play maker, think the rest they are having him on the "4th line" in a meaningless pre-season game is to see if he can handle the different positions, they have played him at centre and wing, same with lowry, can play centre but was drafted as a winger.. Lowry to me has been the guy that has jumped out the most, like his size and his mean streak, hits everything. I think Lowry makes the team. Petan? Man, i love the guy and i think it's a waste to send him back to Junior cuz he's done all he could do in junior but he probably goes back to Portland one more year. Morrissey is interesting, does make a few mistakes out there, could be just nerves or a little lack of chemistry with his D partner but... he does a lot of little things very well. Excellent passer and very good power play qb i feel. Roster? Sure lets do it G- Pav, Hutch Not gonna make pairings here cuz i think it's irrelevant if they are left or right handed guys so Bogo,Trouba,Toby,Morrissey,Stuart,Clitsome,Postma as the 7th, That O'neill guy has looked good so far though so... Who knows there, Could change. F- Ladd,Little,Buff F- Kane,Scheif,Wheeler F- Lowry,Perreault,Frolik F- Galliardi,Slater,Thorburn (Peluso)(Tangradi) WIth that roster being said, I think it's still possible the bottom 6 changes somewhat significantly. F- Petan,Perreault,Frolik F- Lowry,Slater, (Galliardi,Thorburn,Peluso,Tangradi) <-- insert which ever you want really. More offence? Galliardi? More toughness? One of the other 3 really.
  19. Gotta agree here. Look at Ken Hitchcock in Columbus and now look at him in St Louis. Columbus struggled when Hitchcock was there, same guy who has coached for Team Canada at the Olympics and other events like that, or one of the coaches. St Louis is a pretty good team, they weren't under their previous coach though but the players that St Louis had at the time were not as good as they are now, same with Columbus though. I think Coaching plays a role but at the end of the day, teams can use whatever systems they want and all that stuff and at the end of the day, it's still just hockey. The team who scores more goals wins all the time. Been that way since i can remember. I understand the importance of systems, more so strong defensive play, because if you only give up 1 or 2 goals a game, well... you probably have a high chance of winning but again at the end of the day, it's still just skate, hit, pass, shoot, score. Coaching plays a role but the talent level on the team plays a greater role. Maurice is a good coach, he had a team in Carolina that wasn't exactly loaded with talent, they pretty much rode a hot goalie to the finals... but for him to get that much out of that Carolina roster at the time definitely says he's a good coach. Are there some bad coaches? Sure there are. But i agree when you say if you made it to the NHL, you had to have done something right.
  20. If renaud could do more than punting, he'd probably have no reason to worry about his job but because he can't and it's been said multiple times now by several posters including using examples that he can't and he's only, strictly, all he does is PUNT, He will be hard pressed to get back in to a game this year. I'm under the impression he's healthy and Lirim is just better plus the extra special teams player not being wasted on a one dimensional punter, If Lirim got hurt in a game and Renaud was also dressed, i highly doubt he'd do anything other than punt the ball, all this leads me to believe that he's gone in the off-season, possibly retirement. Has had a good career but his time is probably just about done. Do people forget that game where Sakoda was supposed to be our kicker and couldnt play and they had to go with Renaud, man oh man, that was a gong show, i'm not even sure he kicked an extra point in that game. With all that being said, I thought Renaud was fine, but... a little too inconsistent in his bomber career, big boomers followed by huge shanks at the worst times possible, I don't hate the guy, he's had a good career, just I feel his time is up, If you have a guy that can do all 3 and a guy that can only do 1, The writing is on the wall for Renaud for sure. He's had a good career, not bad for a guy who can only exclusively punt and do nothing else. Pretty rare these days for a one dimensional kicker to last as long as renaud has actually.
  21. Alice in Chains lol.
  22. Have you never had a sprain and made it worse by testing it too soon? I have..and so have many others I would guess. For sure but for as much as some pretend, we aren't finely tuned athletes who tend to heal quicker than the average Joe. I don't see the risk in playing him, he could play and not get hurt at all, he could play and break his foot, totally unrelated to the sprain. You play the guy who gives you the best chance to Win and the best chance for the Bombers to win is with Willy behind centre. It is what it is. Can't worry about him injuring his shoulder because, to be quite honest, There was a good chance a few weeks ago that he could have got injured just like there is a chance of that happening every week every game. Injuries happen in pro sports.
  23. I like that Sears gets back in, SUcks it's because Johnson is hurt though, Johnson has been one of our best DB'S all year, maybe the best actually... arguably. Willy is crazy, machine, #beastmode, but I'm going to bet that he doesn't play this week. Think Brohm does. Think Willy back the week after though. Bucknor has been solid this year but it sure would be nice to have a db group of Randle,Washington,Johnson,Sears. Would like to see a new receiver in there if Moore is still out. McGuffie?
  24. Who is Tyler? Offensive Tackle, played for Sask and I believe Edmonton also, Has been on our PR a while, Believe when he first was rumoured to sign here, There was a tweet or post making reference to he must be a fan of Katy Perry, So whenever her concert was, that's when we signed him lol. It's true.
  25. Really liked what Lowry brought last night, Think he's a good bet to make the team this after one pre-season game lol. Pav and Hutch both looked very good, Pav looked slimmer, less rebounds, not much star power on that Wild team though last night. Missing all the big guys really.. We were missing a few of ours too tho. Overall good game, Think Ehlers goes back to Junior, no doubt about it, however when he has the puck on his stick and has space, it's a thing of beauty to watch that guy skate like that. Petan? Man, love that guy for some reason, it's not the height thing, I'm 6'4 lol... but something about his game I like, big shoes yes but he could be our Marty St Louis Honestly... Ladd,Little,Buff Kane,Scheif,Wheeler Petan,Perreault, Frolik Lowry, Slater, Galliardi? Thorbs can stick around as the 13th forward for qualities he brings that got him paid that much this off-season. Not sure about the D, Morrissey looks ready out there, makes nice passes, smart player, good vision, can't get much better in the WHL really, is well above that level right now.. but is he everyday d man? Is clitsome legit healthy and how many games will he give you until probably gets hurt again. Morrissey has a very high ceiling, a ceiling i don't think can be reached playing junior, just like with Petan, He is too skillfull to play in the WHL.. is he ready for the NHL? Morrissey and Petan are both very talented players that IMO should be on the team, Only because i don't see what sending them back down to Junior really accomplishes. It is too bad about that dumb rule for sure, Cuz those are 2 guys that would benefit greatly from it. Too good for the WHL, maybe not quite but almost ready for the Bigs. Belong in the AHL for a few games/a season first probably though.
