i'm not sure if this was noted, not gonna both reading 4 pages lol, but.. on his twitter feed, he thanks pat neufeld, wonder if thats why he was here? him and neufeld are buddies. It seemed odd to me, wondered if maybe he was in a play here or something but... sounds like he was here to watch his friend play.

I dunno, Grigsby pushed the pile a couple of times with guys on his back last week, picked up 5 yards here and there when he probably shouldn't have had any, he does use that spin move and does seem to have it perfected but he looks to me to be a power back, i don't care for play calls calling runs up the middle too much, i'll never understand those, i mean i understand the reasoning for them but... looks like grigsby is best when he gets outside on the play, perhaps a guy like cotton can be the run it up the middle back though. The one thing to keep in mind with Grigsby also is he's been out of football for a while, quite a while, a year or more even, it's gonna take him time to get adjusted again. I like what he brings actually... he's pretty clutch, love his passion and his heart. Pretty hard to knock the guy even for his missed blocks. He's had 2 very good games where he's made a significant difference at times, we ran the ball less today too for some reason, not sure why that was, guess Ottawa has a pretty strong DLINE. But he seems to be a back that once he starts getting more touches, he becomes more effective. The blocking? meh, lots of guys missed some blocks tonight, knapp neufeld morley and goossen for sure. Wonder if greaves is hurt and out a couple weeks, although on the o'shea post game press conference said greaves wanted to go back in, so how hurt could he really be? but i wonder if he misses a couple games, you put goossen at his natural centre and move morley to guard.

can someone explain to me why at the end of the first half when ottawa took a time count, it was loss of downs but at the end of the game it wasn't a loss of downs?
-
also, have to say it, think we missed turner tonight a wee bit, the runs up the middle, i'm not so sure they would have happened as much if turner was playing. Good strong win, honestly never felt the team was out of it, they didn't give up, they didn't fold, tonights game was all about battling adversity, greaves got hurt (any updates?) willy obviously hurt his hand a wee bit there too, but we won. Thats all that matters, down big at one point and won. Last year, the team would have folded when ottawa had the big lead. Also it needs to be said, LIRIM is money, maher missed a big kick, my dad called that one too, said he gonna miss it. Guess there is a reason we let maher go and kept lirim and renaud. Renaud seems to have gotten better at directional punting too. Not always the big boomers, i like it. Very good placement by renaud tonight. Over 300 for Willy again, the stadium was loud on tv, wow. Must have been insane there. Gonna say it, this was a huge win for the bombers, didn't really know what to expect from a team who hasn't played a game that matters yet, yeah ottawa came out strong but was some what expected, was a bit concerned like i said in another post but... bombers adjusted and pretty much kept ottawas offence to under 100 yards in total the rest of the way. Ottawa had 200 total yards at the end of the 1st quarter, not sure they had 300 in total at the end.

I like the guy, i think ford may be the odd man out when cotton is healthy, demond showed today he can return kicks, bombers could probably put cotton in to return kicks also although thought woods had a nice game and a big return when we needed it. Grigsby so far doesn't deserve to sit. Speaking of blocks though, what a cheap hit on willy by the ottawa db there, went low on him, to me, i was surprised he wasn't kicked out of the game for that. Looked pretty blatant to me.

You know who is turning in to a great player for us, teague sherman. Very noticeable both games so far in a good way. What a great pick up he was.
-
was a little concerned after the first but then remembered that ottawa hasn't played a game yet. Bombers D locked it down the rest of the way though big time. 21 points scored in the first quarter then 7 after, D played well. Dear Etch Thank you.

This has got to be one of the best gifs out there -
You only get the sympathy and understanding of the board if you are a player... I don't see a valid excuse for NOT attending games! lol. They cost a lot of money.

one more. Bombers on Top, Redblacks on Bottom -
I don't really care what day they play, is totally irrelevant to me, i have a cabin, we got a satellite dish, if i'm out at the cabin i can watch the game there, no big deal. It's actually pretty nice watching the game at the lake, game over, go for swim. before game, go wakeboarding or tubing or whatever else. Fire afterwards. All good. Don't have season tickets, have more important things to spend my money on, plus my "friends" aren't really that big in to bomber games actually, not that big in to hockey games either, will go for free but rarely to never have they paid for tickets themselves. I guess i could have got some and went with my dad and mom or girlfriend but... kind of a transitional time for me, just bought a house, a new car, got a baby on the way. I guess those things take precedent. Will go to a few games this year still but... pretty tough for me to make it out to all games this season, next season, i might be back. We shall see. I have no issues watching the games on tv though in the comfort of my home.

If im the bombers, i go after JJ on the first play of the game tonight. Do get a minor feeling that JJ will want to prove something tonight but... i'm not sure he proves what he wants too. This will be an interesting game, Ottawa will get hyped from TSN for sure, rightfully so i guess, first game and all but.. i still think the bombers pull off the win.

TSN Off-Season Game Plan: Winnipeg Jets
Goalie replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
If we started our youngsters at centre we'd certainly have the lightest and probably weakest (strength-wise) group in NHL history. Schief is 6'2" and listed at 185 Little is 5'11" and lists at 180 Ehlers is 5'11.5" and lists at 162 Even Schief has to get to Jonathan Toews level (200 lbs.) Little word down badly down the stretch last year according to Kelly Moore at CJOB. ehlers is left wing or right wing, not sure why you are comparing him to our centres exactly and little was our best player last season by far, kelly moore is not the be all and end all. As a matter of fact, CJOB isn't the be all and end all. Little wore down badly? maybe cuz scheif was hurt and jokinen sucked so little played 50 minutes a game really. Again not really sure why you are comparing a winger in ehlers to our centres, little scheif perreault are our centres for the next 3 years at least. Do some research man, its not hard to figure out that ehlers isn't a centre, doesn't project to be a centre, and is a left or right winger. I mean really.. He's listed as a LW but some think he could play the right side, he is not a centre and the jets didn't draft him to become a centre. -

TSN Off-Season Game Plan: Winnipeg Jets

You serious here? Petan is an undersized skilled centre, ehlers is 5'11 and a left or right winger.. What the heck you smoking here? I like petan too but... The only similarties are skiled forwards with speed. They play different positions even, hell petan was taken in the 2nd round, ehlers with the 9th overall.. I'm sorry but thats a ridiculous statement to make, petan has to flame out in order for ehlers to get a real chance? Not at all, seriously, how the hell did you come to this conclusion? are you basing this on Nate being wrong again and saying ehlers is a centre when in fact he's a left wing but can play the right side too? I'll take this one step further, Little is signed long term, scheif aint going anywhere, perreault was just signed to a 3 year deal.. Those are our top 3 centres moving forward (next 3 years at least). Petan isn't close to be NHL ready, he will spend significant time in st johns, actually based on them signing perreault, you can say petan is 3 years away unless they move him to the wing, which they might. Ehlers is a winger, not a centre. -
TSN Off-Season Game Plan: Winnipeg Jets

If Ehlers plays anything more than a handful of exhibition games something is terribly wrong in Jetsville. He's just not big and strong enough to withstand capital punishment in the league. If he shows a bit in the exhibitions they might do the same thing as they did with Schief - give him a handful of real NHL games and then send him back to Halifax. He's got the whole summer to get bigger but the Jets never rush their prospects, he might play a handful of games with the club this season, not enough so his ELC kicks in though and they will send him back down to Halifax like they did with Scheif going back to Barrie, Trouba going to Michigan and Morissey staying in Prince Albert. -
That should put and end to all the reimer crap.

TSN Off-Season Game Plan: Winnipeg Jets
Goalie replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
very interesting. For 1 year $2.5 million, Im surprised the Jets didnt bring him back... Well, he probably wanted more to remain here. Jets moved on and glad they did. They upgraded him too, perreault had the same amount of points in 15 less games and is 10 years younger. Jokinen never really lived up to his 4.5 million a year contract. Glad he is gone. -
I'm glad the jets decided to move on. Good riddance really. had a decent year last year but perreault had the same amount of points as jokinen and played 15 less games. Perreault is an upgrade. Jokinens best days are behind him. He's turrible at faceoffs also. Couldn't win a faceoff to save his life. Glad we moved on from him. 2.5 million for a 4th centre or really the 5th centre doesn't make sense at all for us.

Jets actually are going to go to arbitration with frolik although i dont think it will come to that, they did the same thing with frolik they did with bogo little and wheeler. I'm not sure what its called but he will be a jet next season for sure, and probably for 3 or 4 more years, both want a "long term" contract from my understanding, the jets doing what they did is just a way to make sure frolik is a jet next season, but like i said, i suspect he will sign for 3 or 4 years.

That would be because Austin probably would have to admit he made a mistake signing collaros, would have loved to see it, imagine if lefevour or masoli went in and actually moved the ball? not saying signing collaros is a mistake but if you were austin and stubborn like he appears to be, would you want to pull your prized free agent in the first game and see the guys you decided to not go with as starter do better than he did? Actually, Duane Forde mentioned it too. He said they aren't because he (Collaros) needs to work with the offense more, the game is lost anyway so may as well get more reps in. As we talked about in the TC thread - TC is too short and Collaros (and Smith) need more reps. If it's game 4 or later, for sure they are pulled. Yeah i heard him say that, I'm just not buying it, they had nothing to gain leaving him in, he got sacked 10 times, could have been hurt easily, what is there to gain playing him in garbage time? yeah he moved the ball but that's when sask backed off considerably. I just don't see the point keeping him in to get him killed out there.. 10 sacks against, that's insane, If i was coach, i'd have pulled him and told him, it's not because of you, it's because i dont want you to be killed in week 1.
-
Yup. Teams like Chicago Boston and Philly are over or near the cap with lots of players still to sign. Said it in the other thread, wouldn't shock me to see jets go after a guy like sharp, bickell, read even or maybe even marchand. They could be had for draft picks and maybe the rights to burmistrov, they can't take anybody with money back on their contracts, so its futures or rights to a player.
-
After one game, the reminder already comes? I'll give you this if it's the same mid-season. I dunno man, that hamilton oline looked pretty awful and sask was only send 4 guys if that most times. Collaros didn't look good. I think its likely he does struggle this season. Hamiltons Oline will be their downfall. They just lost one of the guys to injury too.
