Odds and Sods - Game 4 - Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Calgary Stampeders

Recommended Posts

Bombers waste no time breaking their TD slump....

...as Willy bombs away to Denmark, 75 yd TD

Then Cotton and Stamp penalties set up another TD...

16-0 Blue..early.....with all the momentum....

Tipping point...Stoudermire runs backwards in a circle....

...and fumbles, to set up first Stamp TD

Bombers follow up with having a punt block for another TD

...lead and momentum long gone....

at the half: Bombers 16 - er, Bombers 16

Cornish complains to coaches...about his 4 carries in the half

Then proceeds to run about 70 yds in a 107 yd TD drive....

MLB is mostly MIA...

4 games in, you would think that Hurl ...would of made one big play...

Bomber DTs didn't help...still not getting enough there

D, Adams had his coming out party...with 80 yd TD

Demond Washington had a real strong game...

Bomber run game....mostly MIA

Canadian receivers....MIA

A few busts with Willy and the receivers....

Special teams were a travesty from start to finish:

...fumbled punt return....blocked punt for TD.....KO mishandled for single

....2 missed FGs, and a HUGE extra point missed (yet another)......

How can a MOS coached team be this bad on ST's?

Late showing of last minute rocky Bomber horror show......

...as Bombers waste time, then take a delay of game......

...to lose the down and chance to get closer for GW field goal

H then missed the 52 yarder..might of been improper hold...

Blue get the needed stop......

....but simply horrible punt return with 35 sec left.....

..as Stoudermire lets ball bounce, loses time running sideways...

...and loses yardage....

Willy promptly throws clinching INT...

Stamps had guys injured all over the place

....and a OL held together by chewing gum..

...and a passing attack, that struggles at times

Good teams take advantage of this.....

But Bombers just not good enough yet....

DOD just not enough gin yet

Good synopsis as always. Keep up good work

Funny, in the other post you call those who pointed out the mistakes of the Bombers trolls who "only ooze out from under the bridge after a loss to bash everything", but this is a good synopsis? Double standard much?

Well. I will plump, for the latter.....

Nope. Because DOD does this every game. Some of these other posters only show up after a loss. It's a fact too.

I stick around for wins, as well....

99 % of us want the the Blue to do well and win the GC.Too long most of us have waited for a contender so if we rant a little when they blow one can you really blame us? To be a Bomber fan ya gotta blow off some steam after all the years of crap!

Just got home from the game my thoughts on what I saw

Bo Levi reminded me of years of bomber qb's, not a good game for him

Seemed like the deep ball worked the two times it was attempted, but looked like Calgary had enough pressure that we couldn't go back to it much

rough game for lirim

stoudemire looked rusty, hands weren't good, and too much east/west/south not enough north

game was there for the taking and the team couldn't execute when they needed to

Good experience with the stamps fans, much better than attending bomber/rider games where rider fans are dicks. As well able to bond with stamps fans over mutual dislike of rider fans

Well this plus levelheadedness is often shown in his posts which cannot be said for some others..

We found every way possible to throw the win away. Giving away 16 points, missing kicks, 3minute drill delay of game, the only thing we didnt do to lose the game is walk off the field before the game was over. But such is the growing pains of a young team.

Alot of the problems are based on preparation and execution. Both of which will only get better with more time for this coaching core to work with this group of players. As easy as it is to call for rapid turn over at beleaguered positions, the only way to fix it is to stay the course. If we would have played any slight degree better in any aspect at any point of this game we would have beaten the defending grey cup champs and west division front runners to take the lead in the west.

Stay off the ledges, dont push any one under the bus and keep our heads up. This is gonna be a special team, we have a lot of talent on and off the field.

And hats off to Do or Die these threads are allways awesome even after some brutal games.

Late showing of last minute rocky Bomber horror show......

reporters wanting to borrow that I think

Kohlert had at least one good game, but Drew doesn't seem to look for the Canadian receivers very often. Not sure why, cause they don't  drop it  when they get  thrown to,  as rare as that seems to be.

Why can't the bombers run the ball better?

Noticed Cotton doing a good job of pass blocking a few times.

Last year people said the O line coach was away sometimes. Is that still the case?  My inexpert opinion, the O line looks confused sometimes.

thanks DOD. Very even handed odds and sods unlike the rest of us unfaithful  ;)

A 2-2 start for this squad at this point in the season is decent. I can't say that there is any one individual player that is standing out to date, on the stats sheet, that is on their way to MOP status. At CFL.ca, there are ten categories of stats. The bombers have only one player in the top three of any of the categories. Nick Moore, behind Dressler, is the best performing player in terms of stats standings. CFL.ca, does not report longest play from scrimmage or 100 yard games and other interesting points.

There have been a good number of highlight reel big plays by a number of players.

It is very early in the season still. Maybe Moore, Denmark and Willy can continue to provide consistent performance. Obviously, it is possible, but Im thinking not probable, that a team can roll to the Grey Cup, without some outsized seasonal individual performances through the season. We would need a number of categories that our players are in the top three in order have a signature and winning style of character.

stats tackles before yesterday probably

Bryant Turner had two. I think Cotton has two too.

Johnson, B WPG 19 Bass, K WPG 19 Bucknor, M WPG 16 Randle, C WPG 15 Hurl, S WPG 13 Washington, D WPG 11 Leggett, M WPG 11 Adams, J WPG 11

In the new CFL, I could see a record year for tackles league wide...  DBs are really playing catchup now

Johnson's numbers are probably higher while Randle was figuring out SAM
