Sunday night i believe, they were in montreal a few days a head of time. It was the new recruits initiation stuff, So yeah they partied pretty hard but it was 2 days before the game took place so didn't really effect them too much. People would be quite surprised to hear about all the drinking they actually do, they do it here, they do it on the road, It is what it is.

Trestman's NFL time ending it looks like
Goalie replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Trestman has a reputation about getting the best out of his quarterbacks, What's kind of sad is he probably is getting the best out of Cutler. I'm not a huge bears fan but from what i remember, they never have really been very good offensively. They have really built themselves on their defence. This years team and even going back maybe 3 or 4 years now are terrible defensively. Is that on Trestman? It might be because he is the head coach but he's only been there for a couple seasons now. That D started going downhill prior to him getting there, I think it's on the GM, signing guys on the downside of their career, allen comes to mind, is not really doing anything to fix the D. I wish Trestman the best of luck, i really do, he's a good guy and deserves a better fate but i guess when coach killer Cutler is your qb and he was just signed to an extension, well.. what can trestman really do. Trestman might be the coach but it's pretty obvious he doesn't really have full control over there. It's hard to say without knowing exactly what he has to deal with there but... for all we know, he knows what the problems are (On O it's Cutler for sure), On D it's everything really, maybe he's asked the GM to do something but the GM hasn't really done much to help. Hard to say. Was Cutler this bad last year? I didn't think so.. but earlier in the year, it came out that a few current (maybe former) players called out Cutler as not being someone you want to play for, If guys don't want to play for him, or don't think he's good enough, Then there are bigger problems than just trestman in Chicago. -
Too Little for Ottawa in Expansion Draft?
Goalie replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Expansion teams are supposed to suck, i don't think i could name a sport that has had an expansion team who were any good in their first year or even 2 or 3.. that goes for hockey, baseball, football, name it really. Personally i think allowing Ottawa to take 2 QB's wasn't fair to the rest of the league. That right there is more than most other leagues would allow an expansion team to have. Look at the NHL, NFL, NBA even, the most recent expansion teams struggled for years, they weren't any good for a while and some still aren't, Jacksonville Jaguars anyone?? lol Ottawa definitely had their fair share of talent to chose from, but without knowing who was available in the expansion draft and who wasn't, Ottawa could some pretty solid guys out of that and probably could have had a couple more if they weren't so arrogant, why take kohlert when you know he won't sign there, why take HAGE when he said he would retire if he was taken by Ottawa. They could have had 2 extra players there, who? who really knows but fact is... just having the ability to take 2 QB's means that that expansion draft was very fair to them. Besides, when it really comes down to it, who cares, why would anyone want Ottawa to be any better than they are? If there fans expected them to be some sort of powerhouse team their first year, they were kidding themselves cuz like i said, you look at the NHL (tampa bay,san jose) NFL (Jacksonville,Carolina), NBA (the raptors) those teams sucked for a while but over time and through solid drafting and free agency, some of those teams have turned themselves around, Some havent (mainly Jacksonville) but most certainly have but it doesn't happen in one year and it shouldn't. -
That was a good road game by the JETS... they deserved the 2 points for sure. The reffing was pretty brutal and while watching i was pretty bored, but not because of the game, but because of the commentary, if randorf and especially galley could have made it any more clear that they were cheering for Ottawa, like c'mon. I've watched all 3 or 4 games they have had on sportsnet and i've been dead bored listening to it. The games haven't been awful but the commentary certainly has been. No respect for the JETS what so ever from Sportsnet. None, 8-5-2. 3rd in the central, probably the toughest division in hockey, 6-0-2 in the last 8 or something like that...But do they even mention that once? NOPE. Jets are actually one of the hottest teams in hockey right now, but do we get any respect? Nope, it's ridiculous actually. and TSN too, man seriously you show the highlights and then you talk to 2 ottawa players after the game and no Jet players? WTF.
-
Pav was outstanding in the shoot-out and all game. Great road win by the Jets, not their best game but 2 points is 2 points.
-
Nevermind the BC game, how about those 2 rider games we should have won. or the Hamilton game we lost later in the year. Those 2 rider games are the difference between 7-11 and 9-9 which is a playoff spot. the hamilton game is the difference between finishing 3rd or 4th.

Als @ TiCats / Riders @ Eskis - The Final Showdown
Goalie replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That was one hell of a catch by SJ Green there. -
Kilgore was actually the argos 3rd string QB tonight vs the ORBs.
-
I think I'd like to see Wheeler, he seems to be money in the shoot-out, Scheif and a guy like Perreault would be interesting to see too.
-
Yeah, watched it for sure then the channel messed up so i changed for a bit, went back and glad i did. What a game really. That TD throw by Demski to Yantz was beautiful.
-
Probably cuz when Huff played, sites like this didn't exist so people couldn't come on the internet and ***** all the time.

I don't know about that. Something different about Pavelec this year, his positioning and rebound control is much better, that's what has hurt him in the past. If he can keep it up, for some reason, I think he will shut some people up this season. The other thing, I'd like to see Hutch play more than our backups have the last few years, what might hurt pav is he consistently plays lots and lots of games, not sure it's a good thing. Think what drains him is he plays too much and has played too much the last few years cuz obviously they had no confidence in their backups the last couple years. Hopefully Hutch plays about 20 25 games this season, if he does, Pav shouldn't be over worked.
-
All these guys get paid lots of money, none of them are worth it, not one. That's why i think the amount of money they make shouldn't be a factor. I just find that lots of fans don't really appreciate little that much, but all he does is put up points every year he's been here. Little is almost a PPG player. He's our top scorer right now. most points.
-
Yeah gotta agree with the post above, Greaves for sure. When he was injured our oline really struggled to replace him. Tells me he's more valuable than some seem to realize. Also have to agree about the snaps getting worse, I dunno maybe it was just me and apparently another person but... Did tend to notice that Morleys snaps really weren't all that sharp at all, Nope Atomic is right, none ever flew over Willys head but i do recall several every game that fluttered back there, at times, it seemed like a guy was in DW's face the second the snap arrived tho. Watching some of the other centers around the league, Have to admit when they snapped the ball back to their QB, those snaps had some mustard on them. Coming in almost spiral like for the most part, with Morley, thought they were more like watching Max Hall pass, wounded ducks.

Not much respect for Trevor Harris it seems, who has looked very good every time he has stepped on to the field, Argos will win this one vs the Redblacks, Harris is no slouch. Highly doubt Campbell would be fired if the ORBs lose, doubt it for sure. If he is tho and I'm the Bombers, I'd strongly consider him for our DC position.

Toughest To Bring Down: Jon Cornish*, RB, Calgary (41%) Biggest Threat To Score: Chad Owens*, WR/KR, Toronto (44%) Most Clutch Performer: Ricky Ray*, QB, Toronto (32%) Most Underrated: Kevin Glenn, QB, BC (10%) Most Accurate Passer: Ricky Ray, QB*, Toronto (71%) Fastest Player: Brandon Banks, WR/KR, Hamilton (31%) Toughest Player: Mike Reilly*, QB, Edmonton (21%) Nastiest Player: Shea Emry, LB, Toronto (24%) Best Trash-Talker: Simoni Lawrence, LB, Hamilton (14%) Hardest Hitter: Soloman Elimimian, LB, BC (32%) Best Hands: S.J. Green*, SB, Montreal (22%) *Repeat winner Montreal Alouettes’ Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) was the winner of this year’s bonus question, earning the title of the CFL’s Best Tweeter with 24% of the votes. Glenn as most under-rated is somewhat surprising, also SJ Green, who i thought hasn't had a very strong season with the ALS might be the other shocker.
-
You know who was pretty absent during the game last night besides in the shoot-out? Crosby, That is partially on the Little line who were seemingly matched up against Crosbys line all game. Little is a very under-rated player and every game he plays, he's always doing something positive. He doesn't always score but last night he was the guy who set up the opening goal of the game and he also helped shut the Crosby line down too. Little does all the well Little things game in game out. Littles stat line vs the Pens.. 0 goals 1 assist, +1. just about 23 minutes of ice time, 1 shot on goal (little lower for him than normal) 50% face-off percentage. That matched up against the Crosby line. Not too bad at all really.

Kane played well all game, the entire team did, i would have been fine with anyone they put out there as long as it wasn't thorburn or enstrom, who i'm assuming would pass the puck on a shoot-out instead of shooting. Is Wheeler the real captain of this team? I know he doesn't wear the C but... the little things he does out there, definitely see him as a possible future captain. Ladd played well all game too, The entire team did. They lost in a shoot-out to the best team in the league and Honestly, the best team in the league got a bit lucky that they even made it to OT as the Jets had several chances to end it with about 2 minutes or less left in the game. Pens got the puck left with about 20 seconds, enough time for a rush but instead of rushing up ice to try to score, were content on taking it to OT. Jets pushed the pens to the limit tonight.

I didn't think January had that great of a year but... if there is one part of football which i really don't feel comfortable about with my knowledge, it would definitely be the OLINE. Think Unless we actually know what's supposed to happen and all this stuff as it pertains to the OLINE, then really we as fans have absolutely very little clue, you are gonna have people here tho who claim to know it all when it comes to everything, Be the first to admit tho that when it comes to OLINE, i'm not sure . Think it's really easy to say January didn't look good but maybe he didn't look good cuz of things other guys were doing or not doing. It's hard to say. Perhaps his back is injured cuz he was the guy actually carrying the oline for the most part?
-
Best game of the year by far possibly in the entire NHL. Don't matter that they lost in a shoot-out, they stood tall with the PENS all game long. I was watching with my girlfriend and I'm like I hope they end it in OT because if it goes to the shoot-out they will lose, She's like why? I'm like Crosby Malkin, It's not fair really... and it wasn't. Pens really didn't deserve the extra point tonight but they got it. Jets at times were jobbed by the refs, not saying the calls the refs made were suspect but i guess the calls they didn't make were a bit head scratching at times. Regardless tho, great game. Jets showed up and played very very well against the best team in the league right now. Hell of a game, seemed like a play-off style game. Bomber fan has knowledge of the NHL and the Jets but i do have to admit that his post seems a little fueled by ??? emotion? or perhaps a few too many adult beverages.

That Als D is the reason for their turn around, the offense is still kind of a joke actually.

Kyle Walters to address the media at 11AM
Goalie replied to holoman's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think some of the fans here need to be educated a bit more to understand that it takes time to build a winner. It doesn't happen over a short period of time. Walters used Calgary as an example, said when was the last time they made a big free agent splash? Not jock sanders is not considered a huge free agent splash. We got a few seasons to go to probably be in a position a team like Calgary is, There is no quick fix, Only thing fans can really do is be patient cuz I feel that the fans impatience is part of the reason why we are what we are right now. Fans are too emotional at times it seems, Don't really understand how bad we were last year and how depleted our Canadian Talent really is, It's gonna take time to build that depth. Walters even said it today, said people may not want to hear it but drafting olineman is a long process. It takes time. There are no quick fixes. People can point to free agency but.. fact is, there are lots of factors that goes in to free agency too, You can offer the player all you want but if he wants to go somewhere else, it's really irrelevant what you offer him. Are the bombers in that spot after one season where free agents will want to sign here instead of going elsewhere for the same money? -
Section S and the beer snake returns!
Goalie replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm starting to think in the past that the MLCC was just an excuse for them not to allow pre-gaming and all this stuff. MLCC seems to be a bit more relaxed these last few years. One would assume MLCC signed off on this. Not sure why they'd have to exactly tho. I don't really get the point, Why would MLCC be against "beer snakes". The same people who were drinking this year are gonna be the same people who are drinking next year too, not sure why MLCC would actually matter here. Are beer snakes illegal? Is it illegal to stack your cups? Cuz i mean, If they sold dixie cups of water, i could hypothetically create a "dixie cup water snake". -
Which Bomber Free Agents will seek greener grass?
Goalie replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Sounds like injuries and ratio were a factor and when sears did play, O'shea said he was one of their best players out there. I'm not sure it was O'sheas decision anyway, Think it was more due to ratio and Etch. If ETCH is gone, i think it's likely Sears is back and starting for us.
