  1. Nah, Oilers can score and do it lots actually, pretty potent at times, they just can't defend and their goalies are back-ups really. I go back to the 2012 draft, they had a choice between a forward they really didn't need or a potential long term #1 dman, They took that forward they didn't really need and that's the issue there. They have completely ignored their Defense and Goaltenders. You can score tons of goals all you want but if you can't stop the other teams from scoring on you, you ain't gonna win much. Oilers tho appear to be on a bit of a roll right now tho. I think they have some talent, the big question marks on that team are the goalies and the Defense.
  2. 1 carry so far for Grigsby.. -3 yards on that carry. Madu in the game now, Grigsby heading towards the locker room, TSN just reported that Grigsby has quit the ti-cats. Jk but...
  3. To be honest, The jets have scored what? 3 goals once? 6 goals in the first game of the season, remember that team? the one who came out and played a dominating first? where did that team go? It's all about effort and heart and some of our guys just lack it at times.. I do think that some of the players think they are actually better than they are at times... But for the most part, have scored 2 or less in every other game, You aren't gonna win many games if you are only scoring 2 goals a game. Jets have played 7 games, 13 goals for, 20 against.. Average of just under 2 for per game, just under 3 against per game. When you can't score, you ain't gonna win. Honestly, if your goaltending is giving up just under 3 goals a game and you can't win, you got bigger problems then just the goalie that's for damn sure. Put it this way, in the first game the Jets scored 6 goals, in the 6 since, they have scored 7. That's a bigger problem than the goal tending. I know theres a segment of the Jet fan base that will blame the goalie no matter what, always blame PAVS even when he plays good enough to win, did he play good enough to win vs Tampa? No but the rest of the team didn't either. It's like bomber fans always blaming the QB or maybe the D this year when the reality is the bigger problem is the opposite. 6 goals in 1 game, 7 in 6 games since then...I don't think PAVS is the answer but... when he's getting no support out there and the team is scoring on average if you remove the first game, 1 goal a game or so... You ain't gonna win much.
  4. Always 2 sides to every story, To me this sounds like LAPO making excuses but... i'm sure there is some truth to it. Where it stops being the truth and starts being fiction is anyones guess though really. Lapo wasn't a good coach, he micromanaged things way too much when he was here, had his hand it too many hats.. It's easy for him to blame MACK for his short comings... But really, what it tells me is LAPO has some sour grapes going on and can't admit that he failed as a coach too. Maybe, probably not maybe but maybe Lapo is right in what he is saying but... at the same time, i've never heard LAPO take any of the blame either. Do have to admit, it's an interesting way to talk about a guy who gave you your first head coaching job in the CFL and probably your last. Honestly, Lapo comes across as being a bit arrogant at times and stubborn as well, he seems set in his ways... Coaches at times need to admit to their own mistakes too and i've yet to read anything about lapo doing that. LAPO is not without blame himself, he pretty much scape goated baressi and did quite a bit of other questionable things as a coach also. Always 2 sides to the story, would love to hear MACKS but we will never get it cuz MACK aint around like LAPO is. Mack is probably at home in North Carolina not really worrying about what went wrong with the team, Meanwhile LAPO comes across as being a bit bitter and kind of holding a grudge of some sort, which is odd cuz LAPO wasn't exactly without his flaws too.
  5. I don't think they are tanking, I just truly feel they aren't good enough, almost content, the players on the ice seem to be content, they don't care, they get paid their millions either way... The team certainly isn't tanking on purpose but... i get the feeling that management and the fans wouldn't really be too upset if they did.
  6. This is a terrible incident and in no way am i saying i think it's cool, It's awful and brutal and cowardly and just basically every word you can think of that means "piece of **** move". But i was pretty upset to see some of the headlines used by some of the media stations, Global i believe, their headline was "Canada under Attack". Now, like i said, cowardy, POS move for sure but with that said, Was Canada really under attack. The media did make it seem like a 9/11 type of event, i was half expecting to see airplanes flying in to the parliament buildings, This is just one crazy guy upset cuz he couldn't get a passport going on a suicide mission,Yeah he killed an unarmed im assuming solider, Brutal, Heart wrenching for sure, No doubt..but the headline Canada under Attack was definitely pretty insulting to read. One guy, maybe 2 but sounds like just one guy... a frustrated angry crack head who from what it sounds like looked for begged for but didn't get any help for his problem, Turned to a religion and then took his anger out on an unarmed guy who had nothing to do with any of his problems or issues. Cowardly yes. Canada Under Attack tho? Not exactly. And just for the record, i think these media stations and people who look to blame the religion for these actions of the cowards of the world, man c'mon, the religion didn't tell the guy to go kill an unarmed solider, this guy decided on his own... and then they report his name and tell us his back story, why do we do this? You know what this guy wanted, to be remembered and by the sounds of things, wanted help desperately for his problem but nobody really listened, I'm not advocating the cowards (im not using his name as i believe he shouldn't be known) actions but... to blame the religion? That's pure BS. THis guy decided to do it himself. I work with some muslim folks and you know what, they are the nicest people in the world and i don't think the actions of a select few nutcases or insane people or just physco piles of crap really should really reflect the entire group. It's too bad tho that these guys give all of them a bad name and it's too bad, i'd hate to be that muslim person at work right now cuz you know what, for as nice as some of them are, we have all been told repeatedly by the media and the people in charge that they are not to be trusted. I dont think ISIS had anything to do with this, i really don't. Ofcourse they will take some credit cuz that's what they do but... the fact is.. this is just the actions of one crazy messed up individual who for a long time it seemed, was CRYING out for help. Nobody listened tho.
  7. I dont think PAV played well vs TBAY and i think it's obvious he isn't good enough however just blaming PAV i think isn't fair. Yes the Jets got lots of chances but Tampa had the better chances tonight, The higher percentage chances at least IMO. Honestly, 3 of those goals, PAV had very little chance, they were very nice plays, the first goal.. No chance, the Drouin goal, gotta give props to was it Fillpulla, that was one hell of a pass, the last goal, again very little chance... I don't think he's good enough but i don't think this team is much better than they are if they had a different goalie. It seems to me when the team is in their own zone, they run around like chickens with their heads cut off, assignments are missed, guys are lazy it seems, and they are soft, i hate lawless and can't stand lawless and order but he said tonight the Jets have a very soft mentality and i think he's bang on, when the other team gets up by a goal or scores first, the Jets become very deflated.. They dominated 2 periods tonight in terms of shots, the third when they should have been playing harder, they seemed to back off a bit. I dunno, I like guys like Scheif, Trouba, Bogo i thought had a good game tonight and has had more good than bad this season, Wheeler is another, Lowry,Perreault...Little, but i do think changes are needed... Guys like Ladd,Buff,Toby even... you need to move them or one or 2 of them at least just to send a message to the rest of the team that what they are doing isn't acceptable. I prefer watching the Scheifs,Lowrys,Troubas,Bogos and Littles and Wheelers out there, cuz to me that is the actual core of this team... Ladd and Buff are going through the motions,Buff has so much talent it's crazy, but he just lacks the heart,Ladd, i like him, i do, but its apparent that change is needed in the dressing room, the soft mentality of the team, it needs to be changed.
  8. That stadium looks exactly like IGF... it really does. Not much points for originality there. But it should look nice when done. Just not exactly original.
  9. Good point. My apologies! See. You are a troll. LOL. You said you were leaving yesterday but here you are responding to posts today. Man, oh man, all i know is if i said i'd leave a site, i wouldn't be responding back to people a day after i said i'd leave the site. Give it a week or 2 at least. Jeeeez man.
  10. To be honest, It would be pretty cool to see the opening ceremonies in Ottawa today, Should be quite something. I'm curious if those of us living in Winnipeg will even be able too tho. There is a Jets game on TSN 3 tonight, or TSN winnipeg really, Probably means the other TSN channels aren't authorized. I don't know when this happened but noticed it last week too, The other TSN channels are blacked out, not authorized it says. It's too bad cuz last week i was actually hoping to catch some of the football game, even while the Jets were on too, but i couldn't. First time i noticed i couldn't watch the other TSN Channels actually. To this day, some still say "not authorized". Prior to last week, they all were available to watch. Pretty BS move by TSN actually.
  11. Can't say I'm surprised by this, Swiston has been here what? 3 seasons? has been injured every season pretty much, means he's probably below where he needs to be, when you keep getting injured over and over and over, you aren't gonna be able to learn much, It's too bad but the reason the guy was picked in the 4th round and not earlier was because of his injury concerns. This isn't new, this has been going on with Swiston since before he was drafted, that's why we got him in the 4th round.. If he was healthy and not injury prone, he would have probably been taken in the first 2 rounds. Oh well really. Good luck tho to Paul in the future, Hopefully he catches on somewhere cuz honestly, he seems like a good guy and hopefully gets a chance to show he can stay healthy but he couldn't stay healthy here.
  12. I really enjoyed OZ, yeah it was disturbing but apparently, Prisons are actually very similar to what OZ portrayed. i AGREE that it is odd seeing those guys from OZ on other shows, Vern being the most obvious, he's been in quite a few stuff and even on a few commercials, was a real son of a ***** on OZ. Beecher too, Might have actually been on Criminal Minds or CSI or even Law n Order too, playing a crack addicted bad guy.. Ended up getting killed on the show.. It was criminal minds now that i remember. Honestly, Don't watch much TV right now.. When i do, I dunno why but... for the most part it's HGTV or Discovery.. Really like that Yukon Men show, it's quite good actually. Gold Rush is always fun to watch too. Not really in to the Dramas or anything like that too much, Do enjoy the comedies like Modern Family and Big Bang tho but for the most part, Tv? Very rare these last few months. Fun fact about HGTV.. theres a show called "Tackle My Reno", the host? former CFL player Sebastien Clovis.
  13. Ricky Ray was a dominant QB and has been since he's been in this league, Hasn't exactly played on that many "dominant" teams. Calvillo played on a dominant Montreal team for years, gotta also keep in mind the EAST was historically weak during that time, and he has a losing record in grey cup games. Who exactly are Dominant QB'S.. i can think of a few in the NFL..Manning,Brady,Brees even (altho N.O. ain't so great no more) so obviously, it takes more than just a dominant QB to win, if that was the case then Manning Brady Brees Calvillo and Ray would be winning cups and bowls every year. They don't tho. Different time back then when Allen played tho, Not convinced Allen would be a good qb if he played today. As for Marve, LOL.. 1 quarter of work, yeah he looked ok but... 1 quarter and some people are declaring him this god and we lost the game too? Even tho i feel for some reason that if we actually would have stopped Calgary there we might have tied it up, Calgary was on their heels a bit, but probably to be expected when you have zero film on the guy. I like Marve, i think he will be a pretty good QB for us down the line but... he's not better than Willy, that's for sure. You know Willy in his first quarter as a bomber put up a couple touchdowns also? Threw for more yards and actually completed a higher percentage of his throws. I hope Marve gets another shot to play this season, Hopefully he gets some reps next week vs Calgary, Would like to see what he can do when Calgary actually has time to prepare for him. You know, I've always wondered why teams and coaches don't do this, I mean i know why, cuz it's ridiculous but...I've always wanted to see a team, for example here, the bombers say "Drew Willy is starting this week". and then 30 seconds before the game say "Actually we lied, Marve is". Would that not kind of screw the other team over a wee bit? Preparing all week to face one qb and then have to face the other guy? I know why they don't but man, would just love to see it happen just once... Just to see what happens. Willy starts this week, then on the opening offensive series Marve comes out.. be great to see.
  14. In my opinion, Grigsby quit however it is true we don't really know the whole story, Not like it makes quitting any better but... if i was a teammate, i'd probably have a better understanding of what actually happened, it couldn't just have been "you are sitting", there has to be more behind it and as fans i don't think we are privy to that information, nor should we be really. There are some things we as fans don't really need to know. Like i said tho, i label grigsby a quitter but... i don't know the whole story. I'm convinced there is more to it than just what has been reported, there has to be, unless it really is as simple as the guy didn't wanna be a backup and actually did believe all the early season hype.. Honestly, reading the guys twitter on game day vs Edmonton, you could see it coming, he was throwing his team under the bus all game long, Why did he do this? who knows. Sour grapes maybe? I dunno but a guy throwing his team under the bus like that, i can label him a quitter, everyone else can too, that's fine but... the fact is guys like that are toxic to the team and i for one am glad he is gone and sounds like just about everyone else is too. Good luck to Grigsby in Hamilton, i don't wish harm on him, i hope he does well.. he has a family to feed. Sometimes, i think us as fans like to read in to things too much, sometimes, "it's a business decision" really is what its all about. Wonder if he's being paid more in Hamilton...
  15. Isn't there a plaque attached to the statue of grant letting people know of his accomplishments? Pretty sure unless i was dreaming of that. Don't think i was. Great Idea tho and even tho I wasn't around for BUD, I appreciate the guy and what he means to the history of this team, Yeah he seems to be getting up there but... man that guy sounds like he could still inspire. What a great honor really. Well deserved for a true legend in bomber history.
  16. Doesn't work for the Jets tho or the Oilers i'm sure who probably will not trade Eberle ever. Eberle and Hall and RNH are probably the untouchables on Edmonton. It's funny... Our offense isn't really the issue, it has been so far this year but reality is we do put up goals, we are league average if not just above it in terms of scoring for the most part, last year we had what? 6 or so 20 ++ goal scorers was it? maybe 5 but one had 19... Offense isn't the issue for this team and this is a total panic trade right here just cuz we have struggled to score this year.. Eberle sure is lighting it up tho isn't he with his zero goals as of 2 days ago... Man, Eberle would be nice but not for Bogo.. Bogo at worst is a top 4 d man, D are much harder to find than forwards... MUCH HARDER and actually don't really come in to their own until later in their careers generally, Not comparing Bogo to Shea Weber cuz not even close but.. Weber really didn't come in to his own until several years in to his career, the guy spent several years in the AHL... he wasn't rushed to the NHL like bogo was also. Bogo is at worst a top 4 dman on this team.. Again you trade bogo and who? trouba takes his spot? then who takes troubas spot/ postma? pardy? puhlllease. You don't trade a guy like BOGO for a defensive liability like eberle, and i like eberle but you just don't do that... Ladd,Little,Wheeler, Kane,Scheif,Eberle Lowry,Perreault,Frolik? Solid Group... I'd trade Buff for him... but not a dman, that's crazy talk Trouba,Enstrom? Postma,Stuart? Pardy,Clitsome? Man that's awful right there... Solid offensive group tho... but basically what we are doing is loading up on forwards and ignoring the D... yet we are making this hypothetical trade with a team who has done just that, loaded up on forwards and ignored the D and how has that been working for Edmonton?? Not so good It's odd to me, I like eberle, i do, i'd love to have him here but not for a still young and developing at worst top 4 d man. That's insanity actually and hurts the team way more than it helps that's for sure.
  17. Another way to look at it is this way, Neufeld actually played 7 games for us this year, more than a handful and Hall has played none in the CFL this year and might not ever play in the CFL again. 4th and 2nd? Big deal really... 2014 was a pretty weak draft year, didn't we pick 17th anyway after some trades so essentially we did get a 2nd rd pick this year, just had to trade a couple thirds to get it, but reality is... the guy they would have taken at 11th is probably the guy we got at 17th anyways. So really... sounds like we got the guy we wanted anyway, that was Briggs, you can talk about DL and guys like that but the bombers wanted briggs and would have taken him at 11th more than likely if we still had that pick.. just so happens we took him at 17th. Think some of you are over estimating the talent in the 2014 draft, we traded 2 3rds to get the 17th, Walters probably only does that if 1. the guy he wants is still there and 2. It's not a strong draft class.
  18. Nice stadium.. It's sad tho that i just logged on and the top 2 topics is one about Durant and the other about this stadium. That makes me sad as a bomber fan to come to the site i enjoy most for bomber news and discussion only to find the top 2 topics are both about the Riders.
  19. Honestly, could care less who posts here or not, doesn't bother me at all, i actually kind of like the fact that some rider fans have come here and talked football. It does get annoying tho reading through some of the delusional statements but whatever really, Honestly, if a rider fan wants to believe durant will be back this season, what's the harm in letting him believe that. I don't see any need to call people names or anything like that...but i don't see the problem in some of the humor used in this thread.. Guess some people have thin skin? It must be.. 8 9 pages about the Riders QB... guess that old saying don't feed the trolls is true cuz that's all this topic has become, folks feeding the troll and now its 9 pages long.. Yeah yeah, "BUT I'M NOT A TROLL"... but in a way going on and on and on about this topic on a bomber fan forum is kind of trolling. Not exactly the definition but it's definitely an example of a form of trolling.
  20. Problem with trading Enstrom is stuart becomes the number 1 LH d man. That's a problem.
  21. Ah so our rookie starting QB isn't 4 of the best to play the game. Better sit him then. People probably need to remember he is a first year starter and comparing him to legends isn't fair. Same ppl tho saying the same stuff.
  22. I really think Howell is a likely choice. I really do, do i hope it's howell? I don't know exactly how i feel about that but... he's an up and comer.
  23. What this thread tells me... is rider fans are delusional.
  24. Not as much as you like to think you do. Records speak for themselves? what was Reillys record last year?
  25. He was retired because nobody wanted to pick him up. Riders got desperate. It's true. Honestly, don't care but fact is he was retired and the riders got desperate and convinced him to play again. It truly is the definition of a desperate team. Lets just say Joseph did play well, he did ok at least.. put up Durant like numbers really..... team still lost? why? cuz maybe your offense isn't the problem, maybe your defense has gone to crap the last several weeks, can say Joseph played well, hell could say Durant could come back and play well, but if your D don't step up, It's over for the riders. THe d HAS been awful the last several weeks, not even an ok to decent performance by Joseph made a difference.
