  1. It's all about D and Goaltending in the play-offs, If you have a hot goalie, you can go far. Edmonton did with Roloson, LA did with Quick. Plenty more examples really.
  2. Those people are semi correct, it depends on if you consider PAV the starter or not, he's not right now it seems. So Pav's numbers this year... nevermind the last several, somewhat irrelevant considering the team themselves sucked but his numbers, (save percentage) and GAA for that matter... are better than James Reimer Kari Lehtonen Darcy Kuemper Ben Scrivens Mike Smith Victor Fasth Nicklas Backstrom Ilya Bryzgalov and Several others including Al Montoya Not sure why people are comparing PAV to starting goalies anyway, he's the back-up and it's obvious He's also not being paid tons of money like the real starters are.. 3.9 million is less than what Mike Smith and Lehtonen are making. Pav's numbers aren't very good but... it's better than what people make him out to be. Fact is, if people would stop pretending he's the starter and compare him to backups, his numbers are solid actually. Jets using a rotation this year, Hutch has taken over that rotation.. last 3 years? Whatever, there are goalies with worse numbers than pavelec. I'll never understand tho why people think Pavelec should be as good as the elite goalies in the league, he's not being paid like an elite goalie, those guys are making 6 7 million bucks a year.
  3. Anything is possible. Just get In and who knows
  4. Klingberg sucked so getting anything for him was a solid move. People making a big deal out of Pardy at forward but really the 4th line plays 4 minutes. Say what you want but since Pardy has been dressed as a forward the pk has been much better and Pardy plays the PK as a d man.
  5. I LIKE him but Hutch hasn't shown he is legit yet. Looks like he is but Hellebyuck in St Johns is shattering records left right and center Good teams build from the net out so let's say Hutch. Then we go to the D men. Trouba and Myers will both be very good. Forwards. Start with the centers. Little Scheif Lowry even. Go from there really. If you include prospects. Helle Morrissey Ehlers Petan are all untouchable too. I'd trade Ladd and Buff in a second if someone was willing to give up good players in return. These guys are older. You build the team around the young guys really and Wheeler
  6. Jokinen is a 4th line center. Leopold is a 6th d man. Stewart rarely shows up. A huge meh to trade deadline day CHICAGO being praised for timmonen and Vermette by the talking heads but I'd be concerned if I was the Hawks. Jets aren't far back of them.
  7. Solid trade again by Chevy. Deep roster. Probably done now tho. I'd imagine
  8. Buff will be traded if he doesn't agree to a contract extension. That's just reality. Can't lose him for nothing. Ideally he signs but If not you have to trade him.
  9. Kessel will go in the off season or not at all. That contract is ugly.
  10. Buff might be traded this off season if he wants too much term or money in a new deal. Hope they can sign him but if not he'd probably get us quite a few pieces
  11. Have to mention Scheifs hit on Lewis. Sick hit.
  12. TROUBA LITTLE SCHEIF ON THE MAIN ROSTER
  13. Wow Jets 4 1 after 40 and taking it to the kings
  14. San Jose lost to Ottawa tonight, you can not officially but darn near officially eliminate them. Minny gonna beat Colorado as it's 3-1 with a minute left in the game. It's gonna come down to WPG, MINNY, and one of Calgary or Vancouver. 2 of those 4 will get in. Call me crazy But Anaheim, LA, Vancouver. Nasvhille,ST L, Chicago. Wpg, Minny. 5 teams from the Central.
  15. There will be moves on monday... guys like Petry,Atkinson, Maybe Calvert, Chris Stewart, Maybe some leaf players.... there will be trades but i'd suspect nothing really too earth shattering. Some guy still out there to be had but... probably not that much. Then again, a team could surprise and you could see a guy like Yandle moved, speculation is a eastern contender is in on him (Tampa is my guess). There is talk that Zuccarello is available from the NYR, Bernier from the leafs, Other guys too. Think Monday will be rather boring but... there will be deals done for sure. How many? I don't know, i'd have to say less than 10.
  16. There was no snow in October this past year.
  17. That's a lot to pay for Vermette who will be a rental as Chicago will have no money to sign him next season. in other news, not sure where to put this so i'll put it here but... Ken Wiebe @WiebeSunSports Connor Hellebuyck's 50 saves eclipsed the franchise record that was previously held by Michael Hutchinson (49) St Johns IceCaps news.
  18. Keep in mind that you also only took one part of his quote.
  19. Basically for a 3rd round pick there as heatley won't see the big clubs roster. Guy has played in 24 games in the AHL this year, 2 goals, 5 assists. He's a cap dump really.
  20. Teams are also playing a way more defensive based system now. That's a huge difference too, Back in the Day, it was basically score score score score score and no D, now a days you see a lot more 2-1 3-2 etc type of games because teams are concentrating more on defense now. Goalies are also better, people can talk about the equipment all they want but.. these guys can shoot the puck over 100 miles per hour for gods sake, you need that equipment on and even with it on if it hits you in a specific spot, it stings like crazy. I remember playing a few years ago in a tournament, 16 year old kid took a shot from the point, went down, between the shorts and the top of the pad, when you go down theres a spot that gets exposed a bit, upper leg really, above the knee but not really too far above it, hit me in that spot, went down like i was shot , finished the game in pain, took the equipment off after and i had a bruise the size of a golf ball there, from a 16 year old. Hit me in the soft spot really is what i called it. No protection there. Couldn't imagine if that was a PRO doing that. Defense tho and goaltenders just being better, they are more advanced now, positionally stronger than they were in the past even, makes a huge difference. Personally, i like the 2-1 games more than the 6-5 games. The best game of the Jets season, one could argue it was their most recent game against st Louis, what a game really, hitting, chances at both ends, outstanding game. 1-1 through regulation and OT. Great game tho. Players have evolved, D men are bigger, they are better, forwards are better, not neccesarily bigger tho, goaltenders are indeed bigger and are much much better, 6'3 goalies plus are the norm these days, back in the day, were there any goalies even 6'3?
  21. Bombers had to cancel their tryouts in texas today due to snow. Lol. It's going to be rescheduled tho but.. pretty funny stuff.
  22. Great game. Interesting shootout. Looked like Steen was almost behind the goal line when he shot. Tarasenko looked like he stopped going forward but regardless lost the skills competition to a very good legit cup contender. In other news, wild win 4 2 and Canucks lose 6 3 to buffalo
  23. That's quite the trade by the Panthers tho. Looking like they are going for it, Lots of youngsters on that team there in Florida, it's a good young team, Jagr might bring them some leadership. Florida definitely trying to get in to the playoffs tho with this move. Boston surprisingly quiet.
  24. If you listened to Maurice talk about Tlusty he compared him to Frolik, He's probably a cheaper version of Frolik. Frolik will be looking to get paid this off season and the reality with Frolik is, when everyone is healthy, he is a 3rd liner. Jets can't afford to pay him probably what he wants, well they could but... Buff and Ladd need extensions, Schief Trouba and Lowry will all need them too. There is only so much money to go around. Frolik at 3.5 million? sure. Frolik over 4 million, i don't think so. Another way to look at Frolik is... Perreault signed a 3 year 9 million dollar contract with the Jets this past off-season. 3 million a year for Matty P. Frolik is good depth but he's not a guy that you are gonna break the bank for. Got some youngsters on the way too, Calling it now, Ehlers will be on this team next season. He's got nothing left to prove in Junior. Petan might be too. Can't sign them all and while Frolik is a good player, If Tlusty according to the coach is similar to Frolik and a lot cheaper, I could see Frolik going.
  25. I'm gonna say it, but Chicago is a team that i could see struggling down the stretch too, They are without Patrick Kane now and their D leaves lots to be desired, Jets aren't far back of them actually, 4 points i think. Calgary seems to be struggling a bit right now too, LA is in, Reality is if Jets were in the Pacific Division, they would be second behind Anaheim. Vancouver will be without Miller for a long time now too, Calgary could very well take Vancouvers Spot. The way i see, Advantage: Winnipeg for the 1st wild card spot. Why? because they hold it right now and just need to keep picking up points like they have been doing.
