  1. he got to come to camp and showcase his wares.. bombers felt he had something to warrant a contract.. dunno, gor farther then most.. probably got a fair shake as seeing how pro canuck our management has been.. sounds sour grapesque to me.. To be fair I get where Yantz is coming from. Never got a snap in the preseason games. Not even a series or two to wrap up the final minutes. And from what most observers were saying at TC Yantz looked alright. Not saying he would have lept past Portis but a little bit of live action might have shown what Yantz could have brought to the table. Oh well best of luck to him, whatever he ends up doing.
  2. Well I keep hearing something about the Jets trying to trade for Arizona's 3rd overall pick. But seriously there was a rumour of Thornton of SJ to TO for Kessel and/or their pick. No idea if this has any legs but sounded interesting.
  3. Swap Morrissey for Buff and I would do this trade in a heartbeat. But why Hanifin over Strome? I get the upside to Hanifin but there is no guarantee he is the next Keith. And true enough that Strome may not be the next Getzlaf but wouldn't a top end forward be of more use to the Jets right now?
  4. I can only imagine how this makes you feel then.... http://blogs.vancouversun.com/2015/06/23/families-still-suffering-30-years-after-deadly-air-india-bombing/ Actually having the guy's face plastered on the side of their temple as a "martyr"? I don't know the entire story but that would be brutal for the friends and families of the victims.
  5. Agreed the only former Argos worth picking up so far has been JFG the others have been busts ( Romby B,. EJ etc ) ... Not a fan of Thad Gibson? He did take a dumb penalty last friday . I have never seen Gibson so I am not sure about him, however it seems the Bombers have given him EVERY opportunity and so far he hasn`t done much I don`t think he has even played a regular season game for us...so lets see why the Bomber as so high on him... they have given him 2 leaves one last year and one this he better be good otherwise I will start to question how they have handled mister Gibson... i didn't see the two preseason games but I did listen to both of them. Aside from his bad penalty I heard Gibson get some props from Irving and co. Seemed about as effective as Peach and Westerman. But the regular season will be a better indicator if Gibson will be good for us. And as for the price we paid for him, Alex Suber was released by the Argos. Gibson is still playing and fills a need for us. At this point it's a good trade for the Bombers. I do agree though it did take a while for him to show up. But I don't know offhand what the story was behind that. Family issues?

  7. Wow, fair to say that Vega's 2014 performance did not impress anyone in the league. Big news last year P.R. this year. Could be low risk/high reward for the Argos. Vega never looked right last season with us and if he's healthly/got his !@#$ together he could find his form again. Good luck to him, except against us .
  8. Is there a reason why we've kept two NAT fullbacks (Normand and Lattanzio) on the PR. Seems redundant to me since we are well staffed at FB already and could certainly use a PR spot on another position/player. Neither one could go back to school? Does Lattanzio still have use as a DE?
  9. Interesting rumour. But if we were able to snag the 3rd overall it seems odd we would only focus on the Dmen available and not grab a guy like Strome, a probable superstar. There is no guarantee Hanifin turns out better than Morrissey. Be a risk for sure. But then it's all rumour .
  10. Isn't this the "home" game for the Argos that's in Fort Mac? That probably doesn't help their chances.
  11. I could really go for a litre of cola right now.
  12. Isn't there a feature on this site that allows the user to block certain posters from their topic viewings? If so just do that. Can't see the troll, can't feed the troll. And if not just ignore him.
  13. Oshawa Generals win the Memorial Cup over Kelowna in OT. Good game featuring the two best junior teams in Canada. If not for the Gens goalie Appleby, Kelowna would have taken it. Of course Whistle had some nice stops too for the Rockets. Having watched him now for the past month, if Merkely is available in June's NHL draft for the Jets, I would be happy if we picked him. Not that big but tenacious with great puck instincts and unafraid to get physical. Only three months until the WHL starts up again. Can't wait!
  14. 10-8. Make the playoffs and don't fade down the stretch like last season. But won't get the hot start from last season. Should be more even keeled this year.
  15. Of course they will. Just like they make money from concerts. When it comes to FIFA, you can never be too sure that they would find a way to keep all the revenue for themselves and leave the Bombers with the concession money only. Hopefully it's as you say.
  16. Are the Bombers making $$$ from the Women's World Cup games being played at IGF?
  17. Maybe they should do like the Lions with their Kamloops training camp, and move the entire kit and caboodle to Brandon. Sounds good to me!
  18. I hear that the potential $500 million expansion fee is a slight obstacle for a Seattle NHL team as well. Question, how does the NHL come up with $500 million as an expansion fee? Most NHL teams' $$$ worth doesn't reach $500 mil.
  19. Last night's game wasn't that close, Kelowna was clearly the better team all night. I see what some are saying with the Morrissey hate. The guy's amazing with the puck, but I don't like his cheapshots he takes, including that elbow he dropped right at the end of the game yesterday. That's a bad habit that he's going to have to break in the big leagues or someone is going to feed him pretty good. First off congrats on an excellent championship win, well deserved. I wish the Wheaties had put up more of a fight but that's how it goes sometimes. If nothing else this should give the WKs good experience and a fire in the belly for next season. As for your Morrissey observations I saw the same things here in Brandon and during his time with the Raiders. Very skilled and smooth but gets cheap sometimes. Sometimes it means a bad penalty or it could mean he gets creamed later on if he's not careful. Some time in the AHL next season will do him good I think. Huddy will help him bigtime but he's not NHL ready. Bowey on the other hand...
  20. That is the silver lining. The consensus is the Wheat Kings were built for next season, with this season being a pleasant surprise. They should be just as strong, if not stronger, next season. "Should" being the key word.
  21. We'll see. The Rockets are good at blowing leads. I missed both games - but they sounded pretty close. It is good to have Chartier back, he and Merkley are dynamite together. Yes they are. In a previous post I listed the Rockets I was most worried about, and with the slight exception of Morrissey they have all exceeded my expectations. If Merkley is available when the Jets pick in the draft I hope they take a long look at him. Very dangerous. They have been close games but Kelowna has been the better team in both games. Steadier and more complete. The Wheat Kings D has been weak at the wrong times. Can't do that against a team like Kelowna.
  22. Ouch. Not a good weekend for the Wheat Kings. KBF you are probably in for a series win later this week.
  23. Watched Morrissey up close here in Brandon this past weekend. He looked good but not great. Moved the puck well and got a couple of points, but he also took a couple of costly penalties. His teammate Bowey was the one getting the top matchups and tough minutes. To be fair though Bowey plays the physical game more than Morrissey does.
