Funny that I just read 15 pages of this thread and none of those rider fans who were here chirping all week had nothing to say...

Put me in the group that thinks Lapo is overrated. The media gushes about him, that he is some type of mad scientist or genius. I just don't see it. I don't trust that he can create a game plan that plays to Streveler's strengths.

Not a chance. If he takes 2 or 3 steps, he's faster than the Flash...
Watching the game on TSN Demand at 1:01:09 the ball is not snapped, at 1:01:10 Rempel is trucked. So according to you in 1 second Rempel snapped the ball lifted his head and took 2 or 3 steps? I think he actually snaps the ball at 1:01:10.
Rempel actually seems to be in the motion of lifting his head when he gets hit. In my opinion, that's a vulnerable position.

EXACTLY.   You simply don't have the time to brace for impact when you are expected to :
    1) Snap the ball with your head down
    2) Lift your head
    3) Get your feet set
    4) And brace for impact.
In a professional football game, CFL or NFL, this has to happen in 1-2 seconds.     In the NFL it might even be faster.  There's also a reason the long snapper is a designated position since it requires a unique skill set.
There's a reason the CFL put this rule in place to protect the long snappers.   Delusional Rider Fans will never see the logic in this unless it happened to one of their players.
While we complain about the TSN panel, and their commentary... they are all filled with former CFL stars, who played the game and know the rules and understand the  pace the game is played at.    If they agree the hit was dirty, Bob Irving agrees the hit was dirty , MOS  (another former player and well respected person) thinks the hit was dirty... guess what  it's likely a dirty play.   I understand that they are sometimes way off base, but that doesn't happen very often.   They know what they are talking about... they are the subject matter experts.

HEe needs reps and experience....he actually sits in pocket way better than last year already...and once he gets used to coverages..and reads...he will get even better...he gets antsy at times, but thats because he is seeing things a lot of times for first time...so isn't processing right away and is still thinking...he gets more time under center..the thinking will dissappear, and it will be reaction and instructive execution taking over..it takes time , and it's not as advanced as we would have liked to date, but it's also because he hasn't been allowed to do this until....now
All his appearances up to last week he has been in on stupid gimmickey stuff, and limited play selection...what would you expect about his pocket awareness having no real work in the pocket to go through reads?

"If we can get one more impact receiver"... to do what? Waste salary cap money? This is LaPo's craptacular offense. Even Derrell Walker wouldn't be a thousand yard receiver with our garbage passing game.

Opinion is still the same, young QB with upside. Could blossom into a really good QB. Still hate Lapo. When does the media got off Lapo's nut and stop going on and on about how he's a genius?

Watching teams like Hamilton and Calgary just move the ball at will no matter who is on the field at receiver, running back, OL, QB....but Lapo is a genius?  Damn near every game we go on an extended run of 2 and outs, even the bad teams in the league don't do that.  We've done that consistently over the last 3 seasons.

I think his accuracy is actually a strength.  His mechanics on the deep ball are poor but his mid-range stuff (10-20 yards) is the best we've seen from a Bomber QB since Glenn.  The deep ball is something that can improve.
Our pass protection in Sask was terrible, Augustine has no idea who to take, our interior OL is struggling with Desjarlais and Hardrick is really struggling.  Streveler hung in there despite that and came back from an awful first quarter.
Streveler is pretty good on the move and good on the scramble.  Our receivers need to work on the scrambles because we missed a few big opportunities there yesterday when Streveler extended plays for 7-8 seconds.
Our protection scheme needs some work, need more max protect with 7 blockers and 2-3 guys in a route on one side of the field, get Streveler on the roll, if pass is there take it, if run is there take it.  We ran very little RPO kind of looks and the ones we did were huge plays, the Lawler pass, the Augustine run.  The thing about those option passing looks is that the D has to defend the back getting the ball, Streveler taking the ball and the pass, all you need is a slight hesitation and we have a ton of space opened up.  The misdirection causes the D to cover the entire width of the field.  When we use it we move the ball, when we don't use it, we suck.  This is with any of our QB's.
Lapo's insistence on straight dropbacks with 5-6 blockers is not going to work.  And that's not on Streveler, you won't see BLM or Harris or Reilly or f-ing MBT running as many dropbacks as we had Streveler run.  It's a scheme that doesn't work.

Bighill is having an awful season.  We're lucky to have a great interior DL because if anyone gets to our second level we are screwed.  Our D was better without Bighill.  I don't blame him, he's fighting through a very difficult injury and makes the odd play, like the INT that required a bit of savvy and athleticism to make that snag, but he's basically a non-factor between the whistles, he's not really making any plays near or behind the LOS.  Obviously he provides leadership.  Compared to last season it's day and night.  Bighill made several plays at the end of games last season that preserved wins, he caused turnovers, and made plays in the backfield.  We aren't getting much of that.

We also can’t deny that Winnipeg is where receivers go to die. Bowman was his own fault but Gurley and Matthews were major busts and only Adams has ever put up good numbers in this offence.
