I don't know if we've ever had a receiver quite like Ellingson.  He runs every route and you just put the ball kind of in the area and he gets it.

I don’t know where to place this comment. The Bombers are very disciplined, as a team. Minimal amounts of any barkin, trash talkin, taunting, chippiness. Legs didn’t react to the Lion guy’s sustained beaking off after a miss. MOS doesn’t scream at refs or his players. Players talk what they have to do, personal responsibility and not about the other team in disparaging terms. These are just a bunch of real good, competent, guys, focused on the job at hand.

I have to give TSN props on one thing, I'm TOTALLY digging the playing of the old CFL and FNF football themes as part of the 25th anniversary of FNF. They're so much better than the current themes TSN uses.

I sometimes think we overlook and take for granted how important Joe Pascucci’s impact is on the Blue Bomber legacy. Saved up all the old archival tapes from his time at Global (then CKND) and gives us a living history of the Bombers (and Jets) that otherwise would have been lost to the dustbin of time. Big shout out to him for seeing the value in the old footage and keeping the memories alive.
And the best part of that video was the newspaper headline shown at the end. 🤣

As for the commentators rooting for Toronto, they are in the business of selling a story, selling excitement, so they will cheer on an underdog or a comeback, not because they hate your team but because they want to keep the audience engaged and invested until the clock hits zero. Again probably not a popular take for many who have expressed their consistent disdain for the TSN broadcast. But I’m pretty confident Rod Smith and Duane Ford don’t care who wins or loses, nor do the refs unless they are betting on the outcome (and I don’t think an Argo-Bomber game is seeing such action as to make it worth the effort). But fans will fan, so to each their own. And I can only speak for myself, but I suppose I have reached the age where I realize that yelling at the TV is never going to change the call, whether that makes me less of a fan or just closer to a Zen state of enlightenment is for others to decide. Namaste.

    This I agree with.

It’s funny how often debates about saving the CFL and not turning it into the NFL turn into arguments about the merits of each game and why people who pump up the NFL or talk down the CFL in comparison are right or wrong. And maybe this is the issue that we need to ignore rather than examine to start fixing the league. I wrote about looking at the Australian model of Aussie Rules vs rugby, and maybe the answer there is that they DON’T compare themselves.
There is such an inferiority complex about Canada and the CFL and that Toronto isn’t big league without the NFL. Trying to measure up to the NFL seems like the wrong approach. Just accept that the NFL is bigger, louder, better athletes, provides better entertainment. So what? There is room to watch NHL and NFL in the same months without always needing to compare the two, because they are different. So let’s start treating the CFL the same way. It is a different sport than American football, is a summer league and not a fall league, there can be room for both in our world. Let it rise or fall on its own merit and stop worrying about competing with the NFL. Sell it on its own, fix the issues with marketing or costs or rules without getting caught up in “how does the NFL compare”.
Now I know some will say we need to compare since the players we have are always at risk to go to the big league, so you can’t ignore it. And not comparing hockey to NFL is easy because there is no player overlap. Well, maybe stop worrying about players leaving and remember that there are a bunch of two sport athletes in baseball and football who choose one over the other and no one sweats about MLB if a draft pick chooses football instead. And CFL rosters have always managed to be stocked in the past with the NFL around.
Push the uniqueness of the game here on its own without trying to show why it can one-up the NFL. Avoid the discussion of “well the NFL is better” with critics and focus on if the CFL is good enough of its own accord. Because the NFL argument doesn’t solve any problems and is just going to be a losing fight at the end of the day. Stop trying to convert NFL fans and work on making them CFL fans as well as opposed to instead.

They want to look at everything. My ideas:
    3 downs.
Same number of guaranteed Canadian starting spots.
X Americans, Y Canadians, Z Globals. QB's don't have special rules. Canadian QB's are Canadians, roster as many or as few as you want. QB's can play any position and more than one can be on the field at the same time.
Eliminate the 3 or 4 year Americans who become pseudo-Canadian backups.
Minimum 2 year contracts, not guaranteed.
NFL window from day after GC to January 15th. CFL retains players rights if they come back from the NFL for the contract length.
SMS goes down to current low limit. No change to bonuses.
16 game season. Every team plays every other team twice. (Lower SMS = less games)
Longer than 4 hour work days.
    More contact practices.
Single division. No east/west. No cross-over. The top 4 teams get home playoff games.
No waiting for both teams to make changes before starting the play clock, unless there is an injury, set the ball, whistle time in.
Eliminate triple headers by playing on Thursday thru Sunday until NFL starts, then Thursday thru Saturday with a double header on Saturday.
Grey Cup on the same week as Remembrance day every year.
    Saturday playoff games.
    Sunday Grey Cup.
