" collapse of the system. "
Its a bit unnerving after seeing the response to the pandemic. From unneeded panic hoarding at the start , over reaction to mild restrictions , to ridiculous reactions to life saving vaccines, our society didn't handle the whole thing very well. I can't imagine the response to actual food and water shortages.
-
With the war in Ukraine, this in western Europe , weather issues in North America the last 2 years and supply chain issues world wide I could foresee food shortages where there have been none before.

I almost wonder if the constant unfair targeting of Trudeau by the right helps the party. There are legitimate criticisms, but most of the criticisms from PP & Co. are ridiculous, inaccurate and beyond the control of Trudeau (Justinflation for example). I know it makes me more sympathetic and has me thinking along the lines of "whatever we can do to stop PP from getting power". The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Perhaps some apathetic voters will see the danger of Trumpism coming to Canada and will increase voter turnout?
Possibly. As I say each time I make a Trudeau comment I totally dislike him but the BS they throw at him is ignorant. The guy has given enough ammunition to the other side that they don't need to make crap up. And they definatly don't need to inflame and embolden the nut bars. I think if people hang with the radical right long enough they come to believe that most people think that way.
The longer this goes on, and the crazier the USA gets the more important this next election becomes in my mind. I've never feared that any particular leader or party would get in power or hold the balance of power in Canada. I always believe the pendulum has to swing back and forth to keep the Canadian clock running properly. What's happening now is different. Tantamount to throwing a wrench in the gears.

Rumblings prior to the last election. Nothing since. However, he did say, after the last election, he intended on staying on. Who knows. Sooner he goes the better for everyone.
I think alot of the drop in the polls isTrudeau himself( but I am admittedly biased). I think a new Liberal leader would bump them back up. But I don't see him as a take one for the team and step down kind of guy.
-
A question . Has Trudeau said he is staying on as leader ? Has there been any rumblings that he will step down ?

Reality is that Trump's money can get him out of the US any time he wants, but a) where would he go? Russia is nice this time of year but.... and b) he would leave behind most of his assets and whatever dignity he has left at that point.
Dignity ? Think about that Tracker. 😁

We looked like a tired club that just played 10 straight weeks without a bye last night. I am not offering this up as an excuse, but it is the reality. The heart was there but the legs simply weren't. A stretch like that is especially tough on the guys in the trenches and it showed last night. Leggs had an awful game or we still win. I'm not upset at all by this loss, nor am I concerned about it in the least. We will come back refreshed and go on another roll with a few of our starters coming back to the lineup. Losses are never good, but if there is a silver lining to it I feel that it will serve to motivate Walters if any good ex CFLers are cut in the NFL the next week or so.
Prior to this game, I would have put the odds of us going hard after Desjarlais (if he is cut) as slim just based on what offers he will receive....now I think we would be extremely competitive in bidding for his services. I wouldn't have thought we would look at many ex-CFL cuts at all...now I think Walters will make a splash if someone is available to push us even more over the top.
That's exactly what I thought. They looked worn out. They dug real deep and almost ( should have ) won it but that insane schedule caught up to them. I caught a bit of the" miked up " show with Wolitarsky and it was interesting how he was talking about not ever having a month of football like that. How he was so exhausted and was learning new things about pushing himself. Neither O'shea or the team will admit it but it slipped out there on a live mike.

The only way this ever changes is if Trudeau resigns, the government stops hammering us about climate change & stops taxing us to death. And Jagmeet Singh quits complaining about the Liberal government on social media but keeps Trudeau in power in Parliament. We've have the highest inflation rate in 45 years, government services have virtually stopped functioning like getting passports & airports are a mess. People's budgets & discretionary spending are limited. No one is getting ahead anymore. A lot of Canadians live paycheque to paycheque. Something that was worth X yesterday is now worth Y today.
Actually, it could get worse if someone like Chrystia Freeland, Steven Guilbault, Melanie Joly, Francois Phillipe-Champagne, takes over & continues on with the same agenda Trudeau is pushing through now. The Genie is out of the bottle. I think it's too late. The mistrust of government has never been as high as it is now. More & more people will become radicalized & emboldened to perhaps try to overthrow the Canadian government.
I don't support armed insurrection. I support a change of government on Election Day through the democratic process. A growing number of Canadians are losing patience. They don't feel they are being heard or they believe that political Elites run the country. At some point, they may be willing to do acts of violence to make that happen.
I agree with some of your points BUT my issue is we don't have a viable alternative. It's my firm belief PP will be a disaster. Both because of his willingness to pander to the nut jobs and because I really question his ability to to be a good functioning government. I like Singh but I doubt Canadians are willing to vote him in due to his ethnicity. I think a Trudeau less Liberal party would draw alot of support. Would it be better ? Who knows.

every single day in small town Alberta..... trucks with flags and despicable signs/lettering. They found their voice during the pandemic, love the attention, and will not let it go. Whether they have anything to protest or not, they'll be beating the drum. Literally EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I see these people/vehicles around town. Today, while working at a public event, I came across a "notable" person in our community ranting loudly to a small group of people about how churches and Con's/con's, need to all come together for the good of being in charge again. The world is going to hell, and they need to band together to prevent progressiveness and the so-called "woke culture". It just never ends around here......
It's like a 2nd pandemic. Moronitis.

I saw a gaggle outside of Kamloops last weekend as well, can't imagine what they're protesting now other than their unified hate for Trudeau.
Lol, it was the 1st thought that went through my head. What the hell are they protesting ??? ( And I have a ton of dislike for Trudeau ) I guess there are a few people with bugger all to do.

Like most bills that get passed in the US it has been beaten to death or worse. It's such a faulty political system.

Apparently the right-wing politicians in the US have sat up and taken notice of the Kansas popular vote. They are now saying they will never again let abortion rights or any such thing (like same-sex marriage, contraception availability etc.) go to a public vote. They will impose whatever their diseased moralities say they should rule the masses who they disdain.
The greatest democracy in the world ! ( so they proclaim )

I watched an interview with Nichelle Nichols and she said she was going to quit Star Trek after the 1st year. . But apparently Martin Luther King talked her out of it. He said what she was doing in that role for black people was to important. I might be wrong but I think she was also involved in the 1st interracial kiss on tv.

It makes you wonder. Is it Zach maturing to his full potential ? Is it the team atmosphere O'shea has created that meshes with Zachs personality ? Is it his ability to work with Buck ? All the former and a little bit more ? Whatever it is, in my mind Zach has cemented himself as one of the best we have had in Blue and Gold .

While the whole thing is disturbing but there are bits and pieces that in my opinion reek of 1936 and on in Germany. "patriotic education " , removal of anyone in the bureaucracy who doesn't fall into lock step, the Deification of Trump, just to name a few.

Wow- amazing video. Too bad it's not of a planet. 😁
To quote the late John Prine :
Poor old Pluto now
He never stood a chance no how
When he got uninvited to
The interplanetary dance
Once a mighty planet there
Now just an ordinary star
Hanging out in Hollywood
In some old funky sushi bar

I just looked it up.... seems the cuts you refer to happened 1995. the filmon caused strike was 1990.
Chretien started his cuts after after the 1993 election if I'm not mistaken. Filmon who was already trying to make cuts went hard after the medical budget after that. I can't speak to the nurses strike as I don't remember the details on that. The 1990 provincial election was on the grounds that Filmon needed a majority to govern properly. It was certainly a controversial time. Alot of anger flying around including serious death threats to the Premier and the Health minister

It's still shocking to read the details of what went and is still going on . How the US teeters on the edge. It is in some ways fascinating ( not in a good way ) for someone who enjoys history, to watch a country slide into outright fascism. I was always interested in how the German people ,the country as a whole slid into backing Nazism. Just like this I suppose. Bit by bit. What is normal now would have been shocking 10 years ago.
