DeSantis is trying to out-Trump Trump.

If DeSantis can scoop up the Trump/ Mega crowd I think he is worse. Trump is a megalomaniac who really only cares  about one thing. Trump. It's all he believes in.A grown-up petulant child still trying to prove he is the most important person in the world. DeSantis on the other hand actually  believes in all that crap that he spews out on a regular basis. His idealology could turn the US into the Christian version of the Islamic State. He's a scary potential candidate for the POTUS .

The disappointing thing is this guy has his wife's complete support instead of her utter disapproval for being a lout and a public embarrassment, an intelligent female should hold a veto over male stupidity, something is broken.  Together people of this ilk are raising a future generation of complete morons.

I love the irony of these "Freedumb!" idiots throwing around the term traitor at the drop of a hat, when their modus operandi pretty much revolves around ultimately committing treason to secure all the rights they seem to think have been violated.

It's the same mentality as down South. " My freedoms ! My rights ! What ever I want is a right !"  But the wants,  freedom and rights of everyone else don't count and should be squashed with a Jackboot.

quebec referendum on separation was around 51 no 49 yes.

There were so many lies told in that referendum. On an AG end the separatists told Quebec Dairy farmers they would remain part of the CANADIAN  Dairy marketing board. They basicly campaigned say I g they would keep whatever they wanted ( things that would benefit them) and toss whatever they didnt want. As if it would be their choice alone.  And people bought what they were selling. The other massive issue was what would have happened on 1st nations. I distinctly remember The head of the Northern Chiefs saying " Nobody is telling us what country we belong to " .A yes vote would have been one hell of a disaster.

yes, but they are spewing co2

making things which are bought in Canada.

shipping stuff around the world to save money on labour costs,  slack environmental laws.

but yes,  they can do whatever they want since its a dictatorship. But who knows what they'll do.

thanks, after I read your post, I looked up corruption in china....https://carnegieendowment.org/publications/index.cfm?fa=view&id=19628

also chinese plan re water, solar https://www.yahoo.com/news/megaprojects-china-1-trillion-infrastructure-210016068.html

    who knows.

Absolutely , alot of the CO2 emissions in China and India are created producing products for  the rest of the world. The sooner we as individuals wake up to the fact that we as individuals are the problem the better.

Everything we do, everything we eat, everywhere we go has a cost. We ,particularly in the West like to do alot, eat alot and go to alot of places. I don't think 7 billion of our species is sustainable unfortunatly.

Apparently the drought and accompanying high temperatures in southwest China are so severe that hydroelectric power has been greatly affected to the point where industrial plants have been forced to close, laying off thousands of workers and curtailing production.

I'm hoping that as China ,the world's largest producer of CO2 , gets smacked by climate change they may take the lead in changing to fight it. Perhaps threats to their domination of the world's industries may do it. Their leadership certainly has the power if they have the will.

All this horrendous weather news and yet

                                            Damn

    Such a disgusting comment.

Like many far right Christians he is pulling statements out of the old testament and new testament when it suits him. If you follow the old testament word for word you would have to totally ignore the New Testament. Nevermind all the books and passages that have been dropped. A great exercise for most of them would to be to spend some time reading both testaments , beginning to end. Then  try work out an idea of what being a Christian really means.

Or as I like to call it " telling the truth " about their history.

There are many documentary series on You Tube that explain how this happened, some of the best ones are German produced.

The Timeline series is very good.

I find the subject fascinating, but not sure I see a direct connection to what's happening in the US, as it takes a large majority of a population to fall in line and fanatically follow one maniac to destruction.  I still believe a vast majority of Americans would choose not to follow.

I think it's close to making that connection . I watched that timeline episode. It's good.. I also watched a Netflix series Hitler's Cicle of Evil that was an interesting look into the whole Nazi power group. The relationships between both them and Hitler and the relationships with each other is fascinating.  I also saw a connection or a mirroring with Trump and his group.

The mass psychosis ( not sure if that's the term I need ) of a population  is again a fascination for me. How does an entire population buy in ? Or at least buy in enough to allow it to happen ? ( maybe thats a better comparable in the US ). How were millions of soldiers in WW1 convinced to live in a rat infested, urine, blood and gut  soaked , sub human hole then climb out and run straight into machine gun fire ? Voluntarily !  What made the depression of the 1930s last 10 years ? A 10 year period that scarred the lives of millions for the rest of their days. ( very pertinent for the discussion of Nazi Germany ). As a species we tend to run with the herd I guess.

It's not that weird. Nice people with morals and character don't get into politics.

I disagree. There are many politicians who enter politics for all the right reasons. Sometimes their beliefs are different  from Our own personal beliefs so we assume they are corrupt, not nice...... Sometimes they are shoved to the side by those in power or with more political punch. Sometimes when good politicians are in politics to long they slowly slide into corruption .But there are good ones.

But there are some that have neither good morals or character right off the bat. I would suggest the state of current US politics weeds out the good ones real quick and discards them on the trash heap pretty quick.
