  1. Our strategy for improving the OL has literally been "Do nothing and hope they get better." Meanwhile Calgary had one of the better OL's last year and still had two new starters this year, who are even better than the old starters. Something wrong with that picture
  2. Wow, another hammie for Washington... good thing Hef's gone right? (sorry, had to do it.) Is Sears ever coming back? How we didn't hire a Strength and Conditioning coach in the off-seson is beyond me... What are you talking about? Alain Couture serves that role with the Bombers. "Couture is also a Registered Massage Therapist through the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association"
  3. Swiston got yanked in favour of Morley last week. Apparently he had two brutal whiffs on pass blocks and was taken out of the game. Really? I didn't notice. That game put me to sleep halfway through
  4. Kinda funny how Morley is healthy for 4 years straight then suddenly gets injured when he's not even playing. As for the LB's, I'm sure Wild will play. But at training camp, I thought Sheffield looked like our best new LB prospect, I think he may still factor in at some point.
  5. Finally a movie for the common man
  6. http://ht.ly/omf4b LB Ian Wild — sick DE Alex Hall — maintenance day SB Terrence Edwards — maintenance day CB Jovon Johnson — knee (day-to-day) DT Zach Anderson — knee (will try to practise on Friday) QB Buck Pierce — undisclosed (won’t play this week) QB Max Hall — hand (will try to practise tomorrow) WR Chris Matthews — foot (still out for a few more weeks) SB Rory Kohlert — hamstring (out for at least a couple of weeks) OL Steve Morley — knee (out for a month; having his knee scoped) DB Demond Washington — hamstring (day-to-day) OL Glenn January — sick LB James Green — knee (unknown)
  7. Durrrr yeah that's why I said we didn't get him and it would have been good for depth. This is like talking to a child. Or...acting like one. If you can't see 'the overall' of what I was saying...don't blame me. Keep making your puns, the adults are trying to talk football
  8. Ah yes. There was just so many that I lost track.
  9. I'm not going to disagree with your overall sentiments, but is this because they didn't have faith in the kicker or because they (in Lapos case moreso, it's pretty clear Burke didn't like Palardy) had so much faith in the defense that they preferred to try and pin teams deep? The bigger concern is that the miss becomes a TD the other way. One of the worst decisions Lapo made was sending Palardy out for a 48 yarder into the wind at Canad Inns at the end of a half vs the Argos in 2010. Owens fielded the attempt at the 5 yard line and ran it back. Punting from inside your own 45 is not a good situation for pinning anybody (unless there is a significant wind). Punters don't practice shanking punts, they can't use their proper technique to hit that kick, and it has just as good of a chance of going into the endzone. When you watch kickers in warmup or practice, most of them go out to 55-60 yards and hit kicks. They probably couldn't do it in a game against the rush, but you can see them do it off a stand. Palardy could barely get it to the posts from 45-50. Wasn't that Serna?
  10. Why is that guaranteed? Hinds couldn't even stick as a special teamer and depth in Hamilton and lost his job to an Ontario junior player. Because Dan West has no idea how to take an angle and it makes him useless as a safety
  11. Sure sounded like Burke was expecting Pierce to be okay to play. I'm guessing Pierce starts on Sunday.
  12. Durrrr yeah that's why I said we didn't get him and it would have been good for depth. This is like talking to a child.
  13. We can't afford to be picky, especially when we're an injury away from starting Dan West and our starter isn't any good anyway. And I don't see how he has "failed a few times already", when he's only ever been with one team.
  14. I'm annoyed that with our lack of Canadian defensive back depth we didn't get Ryan Hinds. He didn't pan out as a starting corner for Hamilton but guaranteed he would be better depth than Dan West at safety and would have pushed Cauchy as well.
  15. No way he still runs a 4.35
  16. Welcome back Douglas... hopefully he can stay healthy.
  17. There's more to kickoffs than simple gross distance. Placement and hang time are also important. The better way to measure the aptitude of the guy doing the kickoffs is the net distance (gross distance minus return distance). And if you look at that, DeAngelis is at 42.8 and Palardy is at 36.6.
  18. I think you are guilty of remember Hefney from 2 or 3 or 4 years ago moreso than last year. Hefney used to be real damned good but last year cracks appeared in his game. I have no problems saying Washington has been as good this year as Hefney was last year. You are of course correct that Hall is getting off easy and should have had his ass stapled to the bench for at least part of the game but that's neither here nor there when talking about Hefney. Bottom line Washington was taking his spot at halfback, Hefney could have stayed here by switching to SAM but he didn't want to and as a result he was cut. Anyway, I don't even mean to argue about Logan... I would have liked to see him replaced... but the reason we are where we are is because we cut guys without them actually 'losing' their jobs... I mean we released Hefney halfway thru camp after one pre-season game and then Burke turns around and says pre-season games don't matter the next week after we get torched 55-0. Maybe Hef did lose a step but at least he could read a defence... I mean Byron Parker and Dwight Anderson have both lost a step over the years... Anyway, the whole point is that Hef was cut for not being a 'team' guy and Hall is getting away with it. Dunn has a crap pre-season and makes the team, Cauchy remains a starter because West and Sherman are 'not ready'... etc etc Mixed messages are what killed this team. A mixed message would be "We're trying to win" and then benching your best defensive player
  19. Replaced by our super awesome secondary... kind of like Logan was adequately replaced I guess... good point. Just because Cauchy is brutal doesn't suddenly make Logan any good. He was just as terrible last season.
  20. Ohhhh you so funnnyyyyyy.... I was wondering where you got your PhD, doctor, but now I realize it was clown college.
  21. She is no longer with the Free Press.
  22. Bob Cameron? Two... Didn't Bob Cameron get dropped liked 8 times before finally getting the starting gig? I believe it was 9 tryouts over 4 years before landing here.
  23. I seem to remember him having a great game against the Bombers at some point
