  1. It's weird how the severity of concussions can vary so much when the impact of the blow to the head can be similar. I've been knocked out three times, twice under ten years old, & have five total concussions, yet I don't have any lingering symptoms.
  2. Presumably he'll be better now with more than just a few days to prepare.
  3. Sounds like Willie Desjardins will be the Pens new coach. From what I've read & heard about him he seems like a good choice. More than likely he'll have Tocchet as one of his asst coaches.
  4. But for how long if they don't make the playoffs? That team is still in the honeymoon phase. It will always be sold out. There is an 8000 person waiting list for season tickets. The MTS Centre is sold out into eternity. Did they not require people to commit for 5 years when the Jets came back? Once that 5 years is up and if the team still hasn't taken strides come talk to me. 96% of the first wave of commitments that came due signed up for another term. Half of those people re-upped for six more years instead of the mandatory three. I think the team will be fine.
  5. Yeah, I really like Farmery as well. It was at the Festival, but I've had it several times before so I didn't consider it a "discovery" for me.
  6. I get why Laurent wouldn't have fit here, but why doesn't Hickman? If our D is all about speed & aggression, wouldn't a top notch pass rusher fit right in?
  7. So if a guy we cut goes elsewhere, & plays much better than the guy we kept instead, it should be considered a bad thing for us? Thanks for clearing that up.
  8. Hope you're right. Brazell put up good numbers when he was Kelly's age & had a similar amount of CFL experience.
  9. Cal 13-5 BC 11-7 Sask 9-9 Wpg 7-11 Edm 6-12 Tor 12-6 Ham 10-8 Mont 8-10 Ott 5-13
  10. He started game 1 poorly, but looked good in the later part of the game. It was nice to see he could carry it over into the next game.
  11. This Bolton fellow is a kick returner? The Edmonton reporters on twitter are puzzled why Dell was cut by the Esks.
  12. There is no way Ian Wild wouldn't be on the game day roster, guy is too good, especially in comparison to our other linebackers. agree. on our eyes he is but Etch has a different set of eyes. All I've heard about him from MOS is praise. I don't think there was ever a worry he wouldn't be on the roster. MOS was talking about how great he is at long snapping b/c he can force the other team to block him, whereas a lot of other long snapper's don't warrant that b/c it takes them longer to get down the field. This frees up another guy from a double team.
  13. Wasn't sure where to put this, but I heard MOS say on H & L yesterday that he thinks Maher will be signed by the Redblacks. I'm happy for him, if true. I felt bad for him missing his kid's birth to play, then getting cut a few days later.
  14. Yeah, agreed. If Messam can still play then it frees up an International somewhere else. So, why not bring him in??? I don't get the "We're going with an International at running back" philosophy. So what if Messam doesn't play STs. If he can start as a running back letsomeone else do it. We let Jade Etienne waste a roster spot for 2 years picking his bum on the sidelines doing nothing. He can't start, which is why the entire argument has been about his value as a backup and the need to play st's in that spot.
  15. A weak link on the OL is a significantly bigger problem than one on the dl.
  16. Brand new. He was one of our only tailback prospects without any CFL experience whatsoever. I'm pretty sure he was in Ticats camp last season. edit: He never made it to main camp. He was cut after their mini-camp. I do remember hearing that he was a McManus find, and was again recommended to Walters by him. http://scratchingpost.thespec.com/2013/04/the-mini-camp-fallout.html
  17. I certainly think they are. He didn't like Mack from day 1, some of which, IMO, is attributed to his buddy Taman not getting the job. He's a sensitive guy. Doug Brown called him an ass kisser on twitter once when he defended a FP editor over an error in one of Brown's columns. Lawless followed with a string of tweets & even brought it up on his show that night. He completely overreacted to a joke on twitter. Very think skin...
  18. He bounced at least one of the fg attempts as well. Brohm was able to get it off the turf to save it.
  19. Anybody go to the Flatlanders Beer Festival this weekend? It was interesting. They were a little heavy on dark beer, which I'm not a fan of. Amsterdam Natural Blonde Lager was the best beer I found there.
  20. How? They've both been given more or less the same opportunity. Mike, how many series has Hall got the last 2 games compared to Brohm? Not anything close last night. They had 1.5 series each last night. Brohm took them in for the td. On his 2nd series they had to punt. When the Stamps took a too many men penalty, Hall came out & finished the series. Hall then got one more where he threw the pick. Having to leave the field to punt or b/c of a turnover is your own fault, not the coach's.
  21. It's not just you. I thought that too, but nobody else was mentioning it so I assumed I was wrong.
  22. How? They've both been given more or less the same opportunity. Exactly. It was a fair battle for backup, & I'm pretty sure Brohm has won it. I do hope we keep Hall though. You can never have too much qb depth & I can't imagine he'll make too much money that we couldn't afford to have him at #3. Keep Marve stashed on one of the injured lists to protect him.
  23. I was very impressed with Willy. He's been better than I was expecting. Add Watson & Moore to that receiving corp & I think we've got ourselves a competent offense for the first time in years.
  24. Our contract expired two years ago. I think our union is dragging it out, hoping the Conservatives lose the next election. It's a pretty tough negotiation when your management (ie government) publicly call its workforce overpaid & lazy, & runs on a platform of laying off as many of you as they can. We won't strike b/c it's virtually pointless for us to do so. Nobody will feel sorry for us, plus they can force us back to work whenever they want.
  25. I couldn't agree more with this. It drives me nuts when I get NDP propaganda from our union. Leadership will argue that making sure the NDP is in power *is* in the best interests of the members but its irresponsible use of their "power". its not like the old days where workers needed unions just to preserve their personal safety. They need to evolve. Regardless of whos in power, we can count on our 2% increase. Not in PSAC you can't. As I said, we've gone without a raise for several years now. They're using the recession from six years ago as the reason.
