Mental illness is just an excuse. Yeah drugs can manage it, but if you stop taking the drugs you can go right back to being a crazy person and a danger to society. I'm all for greater awareness of mental problems and greater methods for spotting mental troubles early and helping people but that being said you show that you're crazy enough to behead someone and eat them sorry but you blew your chance at being part of a functioning society.

Eskimos release Alexander (Now Signed with the Bombers)

Completley disagree with this statement. Buck showed on and off the field needed leadership qualities for this team, especially the young guys. Things like loyalty, in-game coaching (whether playing or not) of his teammates, how he presented himself to the media, his honesty with his limitations and knowing it's negatively affecting his ability to be on the field consistently. Buck would be a great QB coach in my opinion. Buck was a leader on the field when he first got here, but it didn't last too long just because he got so broken. I really don't think he was ever the same kind of player after he buggered up his elbow. -
I was aware of the meme... I just thought that everyone agreed it was ******* ******** and it never got used... I was wrong.

To me it's all about how those yards come. I'd rather a guy pick up 60 yards a game with a longest run being 15 yards than a guy picking up 60 yards when there's a 30 or 40 yard run in there. Just a preference on my part. Same reason I was less sold on Fred Reid compared with some people. Preference for someone who can grind it out at the position as opposed to the big play guy.

And this right there is why people shouldn't worry about his size. Richardson is one of the biggest guys out there and Suber has a history of frustrating the hell out of him. He'll always be at a disadvantage when it comes to jump balls on taller receivers but thus far it hasn't been much of an issue. Suber knows his strengths and weaknesses as a player and stays within himself and it works. He's not flashy but he is a damned good defensive back.

Which is a travesty in and of itself. Now maybe I'm showing my conservative colours here but you commit a crime like that there is no such thing as not responsible and you should be removed from society because you are a danger to society.

being tall can also hinder a db because trust me, tall people in general don't have as much quickness as short players in general. It's just physics. I don't care how tall they are if they can cover. Sure all things being equal taller is better but if the short guy can cover then by all means play him. It just blows my mind how many people continually crap on Suber just because he's a shorter player, there have been a ton of great dbs in the CFL who are short.

Yeah! No one likes having good players starting for us.

Playoff money my man, it matters to FAs in a lot of cases too. Yeah maybe Winnipeg and Hamilton offered the same money, but if you want to plan on getting some playoff money as well isn't Hamilton playing in a 4 team division with an expansion team more likely to hit the playoffs than Winnipeg in a 5 team and very tough western division? Until this franchise stabilizes itself you gotta expect free agents to be leery of coming here.

Ford to me is a guy who is better served as a change of pace guy than a full time RB. Just don't really like the speedster rbs. Give me the guy who can do the hard running inside. Someone who has a 5 or 6 yards per carry the honest way rather than having it bumped up by the real big one every now and then.

**** twitter, there I said it.

That's the impression I got, invite to mini camp try to get a contract and an invite to the big camp.

Did you know that a safety is also a DB? I sure didn't. -
At the training camp sessions I've attended over the years, I notice they mostly watch a few minutes, enough to satisfy the blurbs they need (best catch, scrap of the day etc.) but don't really watch enough to know what is going on beyond what they are told by coaches. I've been to training camp sessions where a guy literally makes one nice catch but drops everything else, slow out of his breaks, quitting on his routes, basically everything bad a receiver can do, and he's touted as a guy who should be in a battle to make the team because the reporter was watching for the 3 minutes where the guy made a great catch and didn't have any drops. The one I went to last year when I also picked up my tickets, I saw a number of media guys hanging out around the entrance of IGF and kind of watched for them throughout the practice, they didn't really come in and pay attention until they started scrimmaging, missing all the positional groups and 1 on 1's (2 on 2's and 4 on 5 pass pro) between OL/DL, REC/DB's, and the pass skelly, important stuff if you are going to actually look critically at guys. I always put more stock into what the regular posters here say about training camp performances than what the reporters say. Only guy who was worth a damn was Tait and that's mostly because he seemed to just ask either the coach or GM who was standing out. I just don't believe any of the other guys have the actual insight to say anything of consequence.

Are we really prepared to make that statement given some of the refereeing we've seen lately?

I said the same thing to Noeller this afternoon, maybe Popp is more concerned with landing an NFL gig and Wettenhall is pushing him out.
-
I don't think it's as bad as it used to be, all the other countries are so well scouted these days that they all lose their best to the NHL too. Except for maybe Russia and sissies like Radulov and Kovalchuk who can't handle the NHL.

really is. I hate that the NFL has become so big to a lot of Canadians just because it's so massively hyped up. -

They really are. I play a bunch of rec league stuff and I always have jokes made at my expense for wearing Bomber gear, not because the Bombers suck, but because the CFL is a joke to these people. Yes there are CFL fans in Calgary, but most of them are rider fans. True Stamps fans are a rare breed because people are either like I said Rider fans or NFL fans because they have to follow what is hyped the most. -

Calgary just has too many douchebags who would rather follow UFC and **** like that or desperately want to be "big time" and only care about the NFL. -
Lots of the good players in Canada do this too, it's intentional because they need to get more rotation on the swingy arena ice. I guarantee you were taught the same way I was where it's a simple turn of the wrist, and that works well on club ice but on arena ice no chance. I think that will be where the difference is, the euro teams are not used to playing on that kind of ice and the adjustment throws them off whereas a team like Jones has played on that type of ice tons and knows how to do it without screwing up the line.

i'll withold comment to wait and see what happens to Bomber attendance if they start poorly and the "newness" of IGF wears off a bit... houses. stones. glass. etc. Oh please, Bomber fans have seen shitty teams for long stretches before, there's a base of 18000-20000 who show up regardless of how the team plays.

The one way up high are far away but they're still pretty good seats if you want to be someone not in the endzone. -
Etcheverry announced as Defensive Coordinator (finally)

I'm excited about o'shea for sure, it's the coordinators that make me nervous. -

I am not going to comment on the positional coaches because I haven't seen enough of them and as a rookie head coach I think we need to give o'shea the benefit of the doubt for now, but the OC and DC? Very underwhelming. Remember these guys were out of the league until the Bombers got desperate and gave them a job. That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Really seems like they were digging to the bottom of the barrel to get these guys. I hope they prove me wrong but based on past history I dunno.
