The Remaining Schedule: One Perspective
17to85 replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't know that it is it's a game that would be nice to win but not a must at this point. Honestly I think the Bombers are better than the Lions and should be able to out duel them for 4th place at least. I think people prematurely jumped on the Riders for their early losses. The way it looks now is that they'll be battling the Stamps for top spot in the west. I think the Riders can beat Edmonton and further drop them down the standings, Calgary has shown twice now they can handle the Esks. I have no doubts that the Bombers are capable of beating the Esks, whether they will or not is another issue but that's one they really gotta put some effort into winning. Be nice to take one off the Stamps but that'll be a challenge for them. I think they can beat BC again. I don't think you will need the ridiculously high record like 10 or 11 wins to make the playoffs because I think there is going to be some seperation coming in the next month. get to 9-9 and I think you're pretty set for the playoffs. The west can't keep winning every week and after this week it will be easier to see where things stand. I think best case scenario for this weekend is seeing the Stamps at 9-1, the Esks and Riders at 7-3 and the Bombers at 7-4. That's what to cheer for in my mind. -
I'm not wrong.

Children should be seen and not heard. Until they understand the world they need to keep their eyes and ears open and learn something of the world.

But that's a bullshit attitude too. The fans the Argos do have are as good as any. It's easy to be a Rider fan or a Bomber fan, it's not so easy to be an Argo fan, they put up with a lot of **** to be fans of that team.
-
It's not that he's a rider fan, it's that he's an annoying rider fan. there's a big difference. you come in here with that attitude that the rider fans are the best fans ever just because TSN said so it's not going to fly.
-
orrrrrrr they realize they have more depth on DL than they do in the secondary. Tim Burke is very familiar with Suber and with then sending anderson packing maybe he asked them to make a play for Suber to get another vet to plug in.
-
no not in so many words but the implication was there, trying to pick up the poor down trodden bomber fans spirits etc etc. acting like the superior rider fan. Honestly if you are 14 it's easier to tolerate, you were just unfortunate to be raised in that propaganda and actually believe it. Here's a tip though, as I said before, most of the people who post here have been fans of the CFL for a long time, the new rider fans are annoying and you are never going to be liked no matter how courteous you try to be, You'd have been better off just trolling at least there'd be a chance to earn respect. Young posters trying to ingratiate themselves though? No chance. Lots of kids are too young to know what they don't know.

Just glad that Walters is at least aware that we needed help on the defensive line. That goes a long way to letting me have more faith in him. That nonsense about no room for Hall really had me worried.
-
Because I want perspective after some of the condescending crap you've said. I already had you pegged as a young and new fan who probably doesn't remember the Riders being the CFL punchline. One of those annoying type who joined the bandwagon post 2003 when it really started to fill up after TSN started their nonsense about Rider fans being so awesome. I have nothing but respect for long time Rider fans, the ones who actually stuck through the lean years, those are good fans, the people who jumped on the bandwagon after the team started to improve though? Those guys aren't the best anything they're just bandwagon jumpers. Most of the people who post here are old enough to remember when the Riders couldn't win for ****. We don't need some Johnny come lately rider fan telling us how to deal with bad seasons, we've been there done that and come through it. All those years without a grey cup weren't all bad teams, there were some down right dominant teams in there they just didn't win that last game.

So much this. Guy was a great player for us for a lot of years, I hated seeing him buried on the depth chart and not even getting a chance to earn his way back on the field.

Max Hall arrested for shoplifting and cocaine possession

Yeah I don't see anyone doing that, I see people surprised and offering sympathy to a guy who is likely going through some addiction troubles. -
No surprises, Canadinns was louder too I have no doubts, but the Rider fans bought their own crap about being the best fans EVAH!!!!11!!!! and can't comprehend not being the best anything.
-
getting anything for a guy who isnt playing is a good move
-
god I hope you're joking
-
Yeah but that's the real key there, and because I feel like being pedantic here you cna't have cheered for the riders as long as you've lived, infants have no concept of that.
-
perhaps this person forgot that the CFL went back to allowing blocks to come from the side? Nothing illegal there. The missed holds on the riders o-line were far more blatant.
-
Hopefully they have the west wrapped up by that time comes, or at least by our second game against them. The second one in in Calgary right? The Dinos could take the field in that one and thump the Bombers, just the way it goes out here.
-
and I've told you before that you can't just pull numbers out of your ass and call them statistics.

well that's something you never really expected to hear... guy seemed like he wasn't one of those types, guess you can never be sure. -
fumbles on punt returns have nothing to do with his abilities as a defensive back... everyone gets burned at some point, looked like simply making the wrong read, perhaps he expected pressure to get to Durant quicker and force the shorter throw, who knows. Don't sweat individual plays so much, he's a great defensive back.

Start Brohm or Marve ? Personally I think this is a lazy move by Ottawa (O'Brien and Carder could use some reps, you know to actually develop). One of my only issues with the CFL for years has been how some players only stick around due to their experience within the league. There have been a whole pile of qbs who were thrown into the fire too early and been ruined as prospects because of it. Not everyone is a Ricky Ray who can come in immediately and start. Most of them need time to learn before they're ready to take over.

Argos Release Johnson, Sinkfield and Dwight Anderson

Problem is, who is that someone ? There's a reason why the league allowed Braley to have the team in the first place. Find them! there's so much money in Toronto and Southern Ontario the league has to do a sell job to someone and convince them that owning the team is for the greater good. Hell work hard on MLSE and get them under that umbrella if that's what it takes. I refuse to believe that there is no one in that area willing to own the team. -
it was not worth a try because any amount of common sense would say that it was going to wind up exactly like it has. I guarantee that GMs and HCs went "we can get free PI calls with a challenge flag? SOLD!"
-
everyone knew it was going to fail before they implemented it. The CFL has a bad problem of making poor changes just for the sake of making changes. It's great to be progressive and willing to change but they need to be smarter about it.

- Bellefuile started stretching the field on our fifth pass... and we had a really nice drive - all short passes - for the TD in the 3rd - Etch does seem to have difficulty adjusting to Cortez' game, going to be in tough against Dickenson too Stretching out the field helps keep the underneath stuff open. We don't have to connect on all of them for it to have value. It was a bit odd that we failed to connect on any of them, but Saskatchewan still had to respect the deep game. And just like in the last Rider game, their Oline blew up massive holes in our Dline. More often than not their RBs went untouched until they were 7 yards past the line of scrimmage. 4 Riders in the top 15 in CFL rushing? Behind an Oline like that, I don't know why they waste plays passing. And the similar quality of Calgary's Oline will create similar problems. Compounding that, Calgary has a solid passing game, while the Riders passing attack kinda sucks this year. We were in a position to win both games against the Riders so far and made at least one too many mistakes to earn a W. The games against Calgary will have to be nearly mistake-free. They are the class of the CFL. I agree you have to stretch the field but wouldn't you want to wait until they had stopped the short stuff. Both the running and the short passing game were giving them troubles so why keep doing it. Throw long once just to keep them honest but on every second down. I know that game is done but the season isn't. No, keep the opposing defense off balance and your day as an offense is a lot easier. Make them cover everything from the get go, give yourself the most options.
