  1. It's okay. I can accept the Heartbreak of oozing out of the quagmire that the coaching staff delivered. The No End Penalty at THE most crucial point in the game. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha No Kidding! There is No End to this sheet? (Moderators, is it ok if I say sheet instead of poo poo)? The Zebra on the field said it. NO END Yup. There is no end to this sheet show. Beleligne
  2. Rock Bottom Isn't that what everyone said back in the Reinbold days? When in the Heck does Rock Bottom actually hit Rock Bottom? Are we there yet?
  3. With this offence it is probably a good idea to just punt on first down. Sooner or later, a returner will drop the ball once or twice between returning TD's. Then you can get maybe one or more TD's based on pure chance. Or maybe we might just blow a chance to throw a two yard pass on 2nd and 9. Punt on First. Punt on First. Punt on First.
  4. The economy is in tatters, the people are unhappy, the world is coming to an end for the fifth time in the last minute of the fourth quarter. Question: Who do we blame? Answer: The President or the King or the Monarch or the Czar or the whatever... Problem is...these guys are rarely in charge of anything. The entire organization from top to bottom is rotten. The organization is rotten from the top to the bottom and from the bottom to the top and from the core to the periphery and from the periphery to the core. Go Bombers
  5. Wow. I didn't even think of that. So what you are saying is that the last time a WBB HC named Mike who had some type of connection to the number 7 (Mike Riley hired by the WBB in 1987...WTF) and who was successful was in fact none other than Mike Riley himself? So you think perhaps he is the reason for the curse on the team? That actually makes sense. In a world where the name Mike and the number 7 have been proven to be the fundamental lynchpins of the WBB's overall inherent Suckiness, then it makes sense that Mike Riley in fact started the curse so as to never ever be overshadowed by anyone. Especially anyone else in the world named Mike. Buddy, you nailed it. Cheers
  6. The Mike Kelly Bombers of 2009 at 7-11 are tied with the Mike O'Shea Bombers of 2014 for second best overall season record in the last 7 years. In 7 years, 2 guys named Mike have led us to the promised land of futility. And now we have to watch what Mike Babcock does this season with the Maple Leafs? WTF OMG The Blue Bombers are the Make Beliefs of the CFL. Similar ridiculous championship and playoff droughts. And it all revolves around coaches named Mike! Coincidence? I think not. Now bow down and pray. For that is all there is left to do. Pray that the next Blue and Gold impregnable leader is named Fred or better yet, Cal. Cuz if it's another Mike...We's all gonna lose our sheets pretty quick. Bombers Suck just as bad as Make Beliefs! OMG Is there no end to how bad a team can suck? Even in the movies, there is usually some kind of redemption but obviously not here. New chant please for all the dedicated fans out there who remember the BC Sucks Chant. WE SUCK WE SUCK WE SUCK WE SUCK WE SUCK WE SUCK WE SUCK Paper bags anyone?
  7. 3rd and one with seconds to go and still possible Shotgun? Weak Shotgun that fooled Nobody? Shotgun? Bellefeuille? Huh?
  8. Well 17to85 oh wise and learned one. What's your theory? Inherent suckiness or brown water? Let me guess, you also believe that elected governments always look out for the peoples' best interests and that big corporations are altruistic entities just always working toward the betterment of society. How gullible! Get your head out of the sand why don't you. I just love all the "geniuses" on this board...long on criticism and bereft of anything resembling rational thought or explanantion.
  9. Wow. Judging by all the comments speaking out against the idea that cronyism is a problem over at WBB and has been for several decades, I guess I just have to admit that I am wrong and all the experts are right. Judging by all the comments it is clear that the WBB organization is a paragon of transparency and the poster child for how to run a true meritocracy. How silly of me to think otherwise. I guess the past 25 years of frustration and futility is a result of something else. Perhaps it is simply because there is merely an inherent unexplainable suckiness to this city and this team. Yeah, that's the ticket. The reason we suck is because we just simply suck and no other explanations are necessary. Thank you everyone for clearing that up once and for all. Probably has everything to do with the sometimes brown water that comes out of Winnipeg taps and absolutely nothing to do with something so rare and far fetched as good ole fashioned cronyism. Oh well. My bad for ever imagining something so unheard of.
  10. The expression "old boys club" or "old boys network" refers to a group whose dominant characteristic is cronyism. It has nothing to do with one's age. Until cronyism is eradicated in the Bomber organization, this team is doomed forever.
  11. I mentioned Berry based on his stubborn and unwavering faith in Serna. Didn't win a cup and in Berry's last year had the worst kicker in the league by a long shot. It takes ALL phases of the game to win a cup. Sacrifice one phase of the game based on personal loyalty = no cup.
  12. The media often reported that Etcheverry was O' Shea's mentor and friend. I stick to my original post. Anyone who doesn't think that the team has a long history of cronyism is barking up the wrong tree. It goes a long way to help explain the 25 year GC drought (soon to be 50 years unless something is done about the old boys club) and the last several years of utter futility. I'm not suggesting for one second that every single player and every single coach are part of some private self serving club. I am suggesting, however that very often key players and staff at key positions are often brought in based on friendship and loyalty and NOT necessarily on merit to the detriment of the entire team. Serna was Berry's boy and as a result the kicking game suffered. Etcheverry was O'Shea's boy hence the worst defence in the league, Brohm is Bellefeuille's boy, hence the total lack of depth at QB. All it takes is one single player in a key position (for example kicker, backup QB) who is there not on merit but on personal friendship and loyalty to ruin the party for everyone. Until the issue of cronyism in the organization is resolved once and for all, this team will continue on its path of futility lndefinitely.
  13. Whether they are 2-3 or 5-0 is irrevelant. I'm talking global trends over years of performance, not just the last 5 weeks. I'm talking about one of the major contributing factors for the 25 year Grey Cup drought that will continue for another 25 years until the organization is run strictly on merit and not on misplaced personal loyalty.
  14. It seems one of the many problems with the Winnipeg organization is the problem of what can best be termed cronyism. It seems every season the team gets saddled with either players or coaches based on personal relationships rather than merit, at great expense to the team’s performance. Remember how Doug Berry was so enamored with Alexis Serna and his 60% average? My son and I used to joke that Serna must be giving out special favours in the locker room if you know what I mean. How else could you justify keeping him as long as Winnipeg did? After that Mike Kelly brought over his personal pal Stefan Lefors and we all saw how that turned out. Then you have Mike O’Shea and his best buddy Etcheverry providing the worst defence in the league. Now we have Bellefeuille and his buddy Brohm providing zero depth at QB. I’m sure there are countless other examples but I think you get the point. I suppose in any organization it’s common to seek out talent amongst one’s own personal sphere of known contacts but one of the problems in Winnipeg is the unjustified loyalty to the personal friends brought in that are so obviously not getting the job done. I’m not sure how it works on other teams but it seems that if you look at teams like Edmonton or even Montreal, when their number one QB is down, they seem to have plenty of depth at QB to get the job done without missing a beat. I can’t remember the last time Winnipeg had depth at QB. Clemens/Hufnagel perhaps? Either way, until the Bombers stop being run like an old boys club and operate as a meritocracy, I really can’t see them winning a Grey Cup perhaps for another 25 years. It’s fine to bring in people you know but if the people you bring in can’t get the job done, then one’s personal loyalty must be set aside and one should behave professionally and cut loose the dead weight. That never seems to happen until the end of another losing season when it’s already too late. Then the following year, a whole new set of staff comes in and brings in their personal little pet projects and their best buddies and the entire cycle begins all over. The Bombers will remain perpetual losers until the organization is transformed into a true meritocracy. How to achieve that is the million dollar question.
  15. I called out Etcheverry's sketcheverry methods on the "other board" back in June before the season even started and now unfortunately it's clear that I was right. Garry Etcheverry must go and the Bomber's have to start staffing their crew with stable, normal, competent coaches. How about someone who doesn't believe in their supernatural abilities to defy the laws of physics? No matter how clever you think you are Gary, receiver sized linebackers can not stop linebacker sized running backs. Duh Duh Duh double Duh! This no playbook "genius" reminds me so much of Mike Kelly and his "genius" no shotgun offence. Thing is, the Kelly season is the Bomber's second best outing since that bald headed chicken f****r left town. Here's what I wrote on June 15 on the "other board" (before I found this board). http://ourbombers.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=36618 Was I right or was I right? I don't want to be right dammit. I just want the team to win or at least be competitive This will never happen until the inmates stop running the funny farm.. When will the nightmare end?
