CFL cuts
I'd take a healthy Richardson over Bryant any day of the week. Unfortunately, he's not healthy. I'd wait a while and then bring in Richardson for a look see.

Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?
If Bryant is an upgrade over any of out Import receivers, we're in trouble.

Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?
I hope we don't bring him in, and I love experienced guys.

CFL cuts
Because he's on the PR, not a FA?

Oh those Eskimos
I think it's a poor decision that will alienate the media and that's something you really don't want to do when your team isn't a powerhouse. I thought the league dictated who had access to the locker room, but I guess not. Grab the popcorn and lets see how this plays out.

Preseason QB Totals
Preseason QB stats mean about as much as preseason records do. In other words, not much at all.
-
Maher in Ottawa
Close, but not quite. Carrying a NI kicker means and extra DI, not an extra starting Import.

CFL cuts
Wow, too many shots to the head, Jamel? Not a smart decision. I'm guessing the guaranteed $ aren't anywhere near the starting contract $. I'd take Jamel in a minute once he's healed even though it means pushing Watson out of the slot.

Ottawa @ Montreal
Angus Reid, Ben Archibald are big losses.

RT .@PoppJim @MoeKhan19 let's set record straight. Jamel made his own decision 2 B let go. We offered guaranteed $ & rehab, he opted out.
-
Ottawa @ Montreal
What worries me is how easily Calgary's starters made us look like last years team, and how bad they looked against BC.
-
Maher in Ottawa
Maher looked bad in the pre-season game. Missed a FG and put a kick off out of bounds. Not surprising that he was cut, but it is surprising that they don't have any kickers left.

CFL cuts
Yes to Peach. No to Jade.
-
Ottawa @ Montreal
Looks like Smith should have played last week. He's pretty damn rusty.
-
QB Kolton Browning
Hall outplayed Brohm in game 1. Brohm outplayed Hall in game 2. Neither look like CFL starters to me and I hope we don't have to use either of them this year, but I bet we will have to. A new QB at this time of year doesn't make any sense. 6 weeks ago it would have made a lot of sense. I'm guessing Hall is on the way out and the new guy comes in on the PR as #4.

QB Kolton Browning
The end of Hall? Marve won't take the PR? A new QB at this time of the year is pretty weird. You'd think they'd want a new QB to go through TC etc..

Hickman is a hell of player, but I think management is pretty happy with Vega and Peach on the ends. Hickman is way better than Peach IMHO.

Messam
Hmmm.... Wonder if anyone has called Messam a steal other than you? (I'd guess no one, but I'm not about to go through 7 pages of comments to find out) I wonder if any team has worse NI depth than the Bombers? Sorry, don't have time (or desire) to go through 8 pages (140+ posts...) of what must be repetitive bickering. One would consider a talented NI available on the open market a steal, no? Nope. I'd consider him an upgrade over what we have, not a steal.

I get that other teams might have advantages that we can't match, but I'd be making a big offer for sure. I just don't want to hear 'were not interested' yet again.

Messam
Can't really argue a personal preference. But I will point out that: - Grigsby is unlikely to be on the Bombers roster in any situation where injuries haven't occurred, so picking our weakest import RB to compare with Messam paints Messam in a favourable light only until you realize who he's being compared to, then it really paints him in an unfavourable light. - Messam hasn't been a lock to convert 2nd and 6 since 2011. That's why he keeps getting cut. - Kohlert was really the only NI receiver we all liked last year. "Watson is too injured". "Etienne is too...Etienne". Kohlert was the porridge we all agreed was just right. Not sure why you're picking on him. Nonetheless, I don't hate your suggestion. It's not totally without merit. It is still a weaker choice than DI-ing our RB and using Kohlert. In my opinion. And apparently, the coach's opinion and management's opinion. If we have him on our roster we have the option of changing our minds later. I guess there's that. And by the way, big thanks for using specific examples. You somehow managed to do THE IMPOSSIBLE!!! This is the exact reason why specific examples don't make any sense. Person A says this would be better. You say no it wouldn't. Neither side can prove the other is wrong, so the argument continues. No one's changing anyone's mind at this point, so it's time to let it go. The big picture is more important than the details. Messam > Volny = Upgrade. Messam Short Yardage = Upgrade Messam allows choice of DI = Upgrade. Upgrade of talent = Better chance of more wins. 1 Additional win might = playoff vs no playoff.

Messam
Messam = 80K League Minimum = 50K Volny = >50K Max diff = 30K

Messam
I saying Messam is better than Volny, all the stats pretty much prove it, and that by itself makes him an upgrade. I'm saying Messam is a valid game day backup for our starting RB and Volny isn't. We almost have to carry a second import RB and DI them unless we sign Messam because there are no other NI RB's available who can fill the backup RB role. The big difference is that we have a choice if we hire Messam. I'm saying Messam gives us a different type of back who would be a change of pace and could handle the short yardage runs, which would give him more touches than Volny gets so he'd be able to make more of a contribution. All of the above make Messam valuable, both on paper and in game situations. I'm not saying Messam is a huge difference maker who'll win games on his own. I'm saying he is an NI upgrade and we need all the NI upgrades we can find.
