If Burke just planned intelligently, they start at their 35 with 24 seconds left. Then they'd need what, 30 yards in 24 seconds to have a shot at a single? 40 yards to give it a shot at a field goal? With a timeout remaining, you have at least one play call where the whole field is at your disposal.
 
You can't be assuming as a head coach that your QB is going to throw an interception or fumble the ball. If that's the best assumption you can make about him, don't even put him out there in the first place. Use those 24 seconds to stretch the field, it's enough to get 3 plays off especially with that timeout in your back pocket. At least TRY. No one is going to be mad at you if you try and fail, we're already all aware that our team blows. But not even trying just makes you an absolute coward.

Jarvis Jones looked like a stud. You can tell which guy came from Arena ball and which guy was in NFL shape. Knapp will be alright but his NFL weight dragged him down as the game speed caught up with him.

First game I have not driven in from Regina to. Crushed going to be missing Charles Roberts nights.

Burke has to be the least inspiring head coach I can ever remember. Every coach has their issues, but hey ... at least Mike Kelly had a clue. He was just insane. Paul Lapolice? Lost the locker room but he at least spoke intelligently.
 
Burke honestly just seems to have no clue. I wouldn't trust him to run my fantasy lineup at this point.

I like the part where you say it in all caps as if I missed it the first time. I also like the part where you take a 2012 NFL draft report and apply it as if it is entirely relevant a year later in a different league.
 
Every player who comes from the NCAA/NFL to the CFL is a developmental player to some degree. It's all about their skill set and how quickly they adapt to the CFL game.
 
On top of that, I also like the part where you assume that because our OL has been bad for 3 years, our NEW general manager will be unable to find quality OL players.

-- nobody's trading BLM but if Calgary was dumb enough to swap BLM for Henoc, I'd do that.
-- Collaros is a FA ... why would we trade Henoc just because he's a pending FA only to acquire another one
-- who said we're losing Henoc? The entire reason he's going to market is because of the new CBA and Walters already said they'll match any offer

Nobody is questioning that part of his article -- they're questioning the ridiculousness of thinking anyone in their right mind would trade a QB currently starting for a 1st place team (BLM, Collaros) for an upcoming free agent NI MLB. It's just a crazy, amateurish argument.
 
You don't need to be "connected" to know that it's a Madden-esque suggestion that is either a) proof he knows nothing about professional football, or just wants to get uninformed fans all riled up thinking the Bombers are dumb for not making the trade (because if Lawless wrote about it, then it's obviously a trade that's on the table). This is what people will believe, and he feeds into it, and it's irresponsible journalism.

So basically, if Lawless wrote an article where the premise was "If Toronto would trade Ricky Ray for Pierre Luc Labbe, Winnipeg should do it" then you'd think it's a good article too?
