Even Streveler - we only got a look at because Durant left the Bombers... even a blind dog eventually finds a bone, I guess. -
So, Apparently Johnny Football Will Start For Als.

Manziel has done nothing to show he's changed as a football player, his ugly attitude reared its ugly head again last week... if anything I think Manziel will underestimate the Bombers... just like he's underestimated the entire CFL league to date. -
Crossover Standings after Week 14
Eternal optimist replied to DougR's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
To be perfectly honest - I haven't heard anything at all about Kaepernick coming North, with his new Nike deal he's probably fine for cash, and to date he's shown no interest in doing so. Lots of former NFL players don't make the transition to the CFL mainly because there's a substantial drop-off in salaries between the CFL/NFL. It's the same reason you see CFL stars go south (if they're good enough) - even if it is just to kick around on some practice rosters, part of it is chasing the dream, but the pay in the US is much better. Also - the Als have Kaepernick's negotiation rights, so if anybody, they'd be the team to go after him. As for Manziel - I can't see this regime (or any team, really), even considering trading for him. To date, he's played two games (0 TDs, 4 INTs), and shown nothing to warrant going after him - combine that with poor attitude and him complaining about being on the depth chart behind Pipkin, and you have a toxic QB nobody wants. Lots of former NFLers burnout in the CFL, Manziel wouldn't be the first, and he won't be the last. As it stands right now though, boy did Hamilton ever fleece Montreal in that trade. It's the CFL - get into the playoffs hot and anything can happen. The only thing ever Grey Cup champ has in common, is they won at least two playoff games in a row.. -
I'm not normally a Redblacks fan, but tonight I'll be a Redblacks fan.

You are correct - must've blacked out that WPG loss (which was a CAL win) from my memory...
-
Well, with the Bombers on the sidelines and hoping for the crossover, mathematically speaking we actually want Calgary to win here (since it is pretty much impossible for us to catch them). Agree with szaroz71's assessment here though, Calgary is just too good of a team to lose three straight.

Go for it Wally do eeeet BE A MAN -
Not just the Blue and Gold though, it is pretty much universal across the league that if you give up a FG, you take the 35 yard-line... the exception being when the rules prevent you from doing so (final 3 minutes), or if there is an excessive wind for the kicking team...
-
I think the biggest reason we're seeing less kick returns for TDs is because teams are more often electing to take the ball at the 35 yard line instead of having the opponent kickoff after a FG. Less kick offs...less kick returns.

Crossover Standings after Week 13

On the whole, I agree with this. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Nichols is playing hurt or not 100% right now, he's definitely looking over his shoulder and feeling the heat from Streveler.Although the D on the whole has been passable - in the Banjo Bowl with an amped up crowd and a lead (albeit 1 point) in the waning minutes - they just couldn't get it done. -
Crossover Standings after Week 13

Fair enough, my point still stands though, currently the bombers are in control of their own destiny - and do not need outside help. I agree though that things look dire, but it's just been alot of doom and gloom around here lately. Further to my earlier point of all hope not being lost =after 12 games, last years' Grey Cup champs (the Argos) were also 5-7. The Redblacks the year before (2016) were slightly better at 6-5-1, my point is simply that the Bombers are still very much in the playoff race, despite their current efforts to be down and out. In the CFL it isn't how you start, it's how you finish...just look at the 2011 BC Lions. -

Following your logic, you're incapable of being in control of your destiny to make good posts, since none of your previous ones have been good. -
Crossover Standings after Week 13

What? We beat Calgary last year in the last week of the season. We also pushed them to the limit in the game earlier that year too. Man, I follow football to be entertained, not to be a grouch and depressed. If I wanted to do that I'd watch the news or be a Jets fan. As it stands, the Bombers are in control of their own destiny and are on the bye week. Besides, other teams have had equally lengthy Grey Cup droughts: Calgary - 23 years (1948 - 1971) Edmonton - 19 years (1956 - 1975) Saskatchewan - 56 years (Inception, 1910 - 1966) BC - 21 years (1964 - 1985) Winnipeg - 28 years (current) Toronto - 31 years (1952 - 1983) Hamilton - 19 years (1967 - 1986) Montreal - 25 years (1977 to 2002) So yes, our current drought isn't ideal, but it is not completely out of the norm. -
Crossover Standings after Week 13

Sadly, people are forgetting that the two teams we need to lose for the crossover to become a reality (Montreal and Toronto) still play each other twice the rest of the way... which unfortunately someone has to win those games. Hopefully they split, I guess? -

I'm starting to wonder if the reason I own more summertime Bomber apparel than fall apparel is more than just a coincidence. -
So can we start talking about firing MOS yet?

By definition, the Board of Directors doesn't meddle in the day-to-day operations of the organization it presides over. They're supposed to direct and control the organization's overall success, the only employee they are responsible for evaluating is the CEO. -
3 stars plus hh banjo bowl blues

1. Medlock 2. Wolitarsky 3. Thought the D as a whole played pretty good... they only gave up 18 when the O turned the ball over 5 times. HH to Hecht for that forced fumble when the Bombers were on life support. Also congrats to that streaker on his permaban. -

I don't know why everyone is complaining about the offense, they were on the field for 34 of the 59 combined points scored by teams tonight ... that's good right, right??? -
Well I just think it's going to be really awkward for Matt Nichols to explain to his daughter why he named her middle name after a football team that wanted to run him out of town (her name is Parker Winnie Lou Nichols)... guess it seemed like a good idea at the time? source: https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/qb-matt-nichols-proud-new-papa-of-baby-girl-456683783.html

Yeah, we hate Westwood too. Our management team made the best decision available based on the information we had at the time. Too bad we had such a porous offensive line - I always thought Willy looked broken after his knee injury against Hamilton... before then he was by no means stellar, but at least a serviceable QB with promise. After that injury though things really started going downhill for him. Besides, we couldn't have been that crazy - two other teams (Argo's and the Al's) both took a chance on him, likely also based on his 5 or 6 good games with us. -

Westwood, yes but you're off by about a decade - he referred to you guys as (I'm quoting here) "a bunch of banjo-pickin' in-breds" back in 2003. First Banjo Bowl was then played in 2004 the next year. -
Ross's stat line with us was 1 game played with 1 attempted pass that was incomplete.... oh did I mention it was on a botched FG attempt? In a game we ended up losing by 3 points? Yeah... good riddance.
