  1. Their three wins thus far are against Toronto (1) and Hamilton (2). In fact, the Riders have yet to beat an opponent that is over .500. Oh yeah, and they lost to Montreal. You could say the same about us, but at least two of our losses were close games (BC / EDM) against Western opponents.
  2. Alright - why on earth would you not give up the safety for 2 there? You're down 9, you give up 2 and it's still an 11 point game. Am I missing something here? Is Chris Jones just stubborn?
  3. God listening to these 'Rider announcers makes me really appreciate Bob Irving.
  4. It's all part of the Chris Jones mega plan
  5. in b4 Williams missed FG TD. ...damn it
  6. I hope they cap it off with a reenactment of the 97th Grey Cup.
  7. I would love if they ever caught one of those conversations between a trainer and a player faking an injury through the CFL's "Open mic" feature
  8. Only the Riders' announcers would call faking an injury a "veteran move".
  9. Oh god, I hope not, Suitor would lose his mind.
  10. Well in fairness to my screen name, I have yet to see you blitz a forum - let alone blitz excessively.
  11. Exactly - and MLSE has recognized that, and focused advertising towards more profitable revenue streams (like the Toronto Maple Leafs). As a private business, there isn't anything legally wrong with this, it just sucks for the Argos.
  12. You're right, Maple Leafs Entertainment (which also owns the Toronto Maple Leafs) has done wonders for the Argonauts franchise. They haven't neglected the Argonauts at all.
  13. This is a terrible idea, the Jets would absolutely let the Bombers wither and die as they are in direct competition with the Jets for entertainment revenue.
  14. Isn't that usually what happens when you start your car in fourth gear? Maybe that's how Rod drives. They're second in the East right now, they'll be tied for first if they win this game (with a .500 record no less).
  15. Yes - the double reverse flea flicker play at about the Argo's 30 yard line.. usually flea flickers are designed to get the defensive backs to bite on the run, but from where they were on the field, the Argo defenders could recover on route coverage because the ball was already at about the 30 yard line. On top of that - having the ball change hands three times (Nichols -> Player A -> Player B -> Nichols) before making a pass is asking a lot from your offensive line, as the play takes longer to develop, not to mention more laterals means more steps where things can go wrong.
  16. Yes - but my point is that trick plays have added risk for a reward we don't need against the lowly Argo's. Absolutely but that kind of play is generally reserved for creating a spark when the team is struggling - not as an opening kickoff thing. I just thought it was too cute.
  17. Sure... but if you kept it in your bag of tricks, they'd be even less likely to recognize the formation... at a minimum, you would have one more play from that set that the opponent won't have tape of which would be the play you ran against the Argo's. Yeah but I think we're playing a bit with fire here - trick plays are great when they work. The big problem is when they blow up in your face - would we have seen a different outcome last night if that lateral on the opening kickoff was bobbled, and Toronto recovered? Would certainly have set a different tone.
  18. There is a time and a place for trickery - I just don't understand the logic behind running all the razzle dazzle against a vastly inferior team. You showcase your gadget plays against one of the worst teams in the league - it makes it easier for other (tougher) opponents to sniff it out when you might actually need that play in a game.
  19. 1. Harris - not as explosive as last week, but still keeps the offense chugging along. 2. Medlock - Perfect on the night and piled on the points when they were available. 3. Alexander - Argo's tried to get after him last night, but he kept his own. HH - Mike Miller for the beastly block. Franklin was absolutely atrocious... for those keeping track, the single-game record for most turnovers in a single game by a team is 13, set by the Bombers in their own backyard against the Argos on July 20, 1990. The Bombers still somehow managed to win that game 34-17.
  20. Between Montreal and Toronto absolutely tanking, its looking like it might be yet another crossover year...
