Around The League Regular Season Discussion

Per @JDunk12: Esks, Riders talking trade. EDM wants No. 1 pick Josiah St. John AND a first for QB James Franklin. SSK, coherently, declined.

Ed Hervey vs. Chris Jones is going to be a real thing to keep your eye on over the coming weeks and months.

To reach for two first round picks, including No. 1 overall, in return for a back-up QB with a handful of pro starts is... hilarious, really

From the Rider Fans site:

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have acquired Canadian defensive lineman Justin Capicciotti and American offensive lineman Xavier Fulton from the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for national defensive tackle Linden Gaydosh, international receiver Tommy Streeter and a late round draft pick, per CFL sources.

Draft picks are a 4th and a 7th in 2017.  Riders get some decent assets for the future in exchange for Capiciotti who never really fit in there.  There is some speculation that Fulton will retire after this season or return to Regina (he will be an FA).

Toronto's receiving crew today is Kenny Shaw, Diontae Spencer, Coombs/Durie and two rookie Canadians who were really drafted to play special teams.  Barker is literally handing us a top 2 pick.  Guy has to get fired this off-season.

TRANSACTION SUMMARY

To Saskatchewan:
National DL Linden Gaydosh
International WR Tommy Streeter
2017 4th round CFL Draft selection
2017 7th round CFL Draft Selection

To Hamilton:
National DL Justin Capicciotti
International OL Xavier Fulton

Got two draft picks back. Capicotti was a bust and is making too much money.

If Walters ends up getting the first overall that Willy trade just looks better and better

TiCats also sign, Kendial Lawrence, Derrius Brooks, Kevin Elliott.

Ticats are loading up for the playoffs.

And Keyon Raymond plus Jace Daniels

The east is a joke. No surprise Hamilton is going all in. Secure that first place in the East and get the bye heading into the Eastern finals. Even with how much Hamilton is under achieving they have a good opportunity to advance to the Grey Cup.

Red Blacks Chris Williams done for year with torn ACL according to 3 down nation

Edmonton will hammer whomever it is. Won't be a eastern team in the grey cup this year. It will be Calgary and Edmonton

You never know. Hamilton at home in a best of one. Anyone can win. Wouldn't count on Edmonton winning twice on the road in the playoffs.

Why so much confidence in Edmonton?  They have too many holes, IMO.

I hate the Esk's with a passion and very much hope they lose. They just look better than anyone else right now in the east.

Williams is a good player but drops to many passes ,Eliott is a good replacement.

Those guys play on different teams.  Williams is with Ottawa.

Calgary is going to choke again this western final. They have a marshmallow end to the season followed by a week off.

BC could take them in a shootout and it's very hard to beat a team 4 times in one year and we actually match up well against them.

I think its a situation of 2 young talented guys who needed a change of scenery getting it. It seems to me to be a pretty good trade for both teams but modesty better for ottawa right now.

Man this season has been crazy active for player movement.

If I got a dollar for every time someone has said that since the crossover started I'd be rich.

Gaydosh has a serious back issue that he's never been close to fully returning from.
