What on earth are you basing your opinion of Jade on?  What makes you think he will be adequate, let alone good?

Jade has shown that certain 'je ne sais quoi' despite his youth and his being on this team and this crappy situation.(along with all the negativity he's seen)

He can get open, he can make very nice catches and get yards after the catch.

The guy has potential.

He's been developing here and now he's being ruined here, in this program.

The thing he can't do is develop an offence to throw him the damn ball.

A functioning offence with a rotating Watson, Kohlert and Etienne would do us very well.

Let's see now, Rory an undrafted free agent........Jade a first round pick..........gee which one should be the stud and which the dud. Given all the screaming around here about that 2nd to 4th round swap with the Riders I can't believe anyone would even be stupid enough or brash enough to bring this comparison up unless they were just trolling.

In Calgary there's Brad Sinopoli. He was a Hec Creighton winning qb who sat on the bench for 3 seasons. He was converted to receiver this season at training camp, a position he's never played & the guy has been great. He catches everything & makes good YAC yards after each catch. We have a first round pick with 16 catches in 3 seasons & Sinipoli with just a few months of experience at receiver is outplaying Etienne.

This is pretty much a terrible argument. Brad Sinopoli has 33 catches for 411 yards and zero touchdowns this year. Granted that's not bad production out of a 4th or 5th option but to say he's been great is vastly overrating the guy. Despite being in a vastly inferior offense and missing games, Kohlert has one fewer catch. I accept that his numbers are better than Etienne's are this year but as I believe Mike said before, when he's actually played, he's been getting separation and making plays which in this offense is saying quite a bit. Is he incredible? No, but to praise the accomplishments of a very average Brad Sinopoli who no doubt has been put in every position to succeed and has put up no better per-game numbers than Jade is insanity.

its simply too hard to argue with people who refuse to see the forest thru the trees..

It's all about opinions here. Just because you think your forest is better than mine doesn't make it  right. or your opinion is better than anyone else who disagrees with you. We'll see how things shake out in the next year or if Etienne is even back here next season. As far as Sinopoli goes he's been playing receiver since training camp so about 16 weeks. He's had nothing given to him. He was the #4 qb & when Hufnagel requested he make the change to receiver he gave him no guarantees. Had he failed he'd have been cut.

Kito Poblah - 53 catches for 534 yards and 1 TD + 1 special teams tackle

http://cfl.ca/roster/show/id/4435

Jade Etienne - 20 catches for 276 yards and 2 TDs + 2 tackles

Anthony Parker - 21 catches for 260 yards and 1 TD, 5 carries for 36 yards + 2 tackles, 8 special teams tackles and an INT; 2 punt returns + 4 KO returns

My thoughts on Etienne from the 2011 Draft Guide:

Caught a lot of attention in the 2010 CIS season with a breakout year and made some big plays. Jade moved into the next tier of receivers with a lot of potential. Will have to convince decision makers that it wasn’t just a one time success story.

Career totals - 30 rec. for 743 yds with 6 TD

Why do people keep suggesting Etienne would be signed by the Riders? Why would he want to sign with a team where he would be a depth player? And what makes people think the Riders would be interested in signing him?

The Riders don't have any NI receivers outside of Getzlaf and yes that includes Rob Bagg.

Our offense totally stinks this year. It will probaby turn out to be the worst offense in the club's history.

We have 8 passing TD's all year. Ernie Pitts once caught 5 TD passes in one frickin game.

You can't judge Jade's performance based on this year's offense. (But even with limited playing time he's got 2 of those 8 TD's.)

He's still very young. If we get a decent QB and a smart OC, I expect he'll do a lot better.

So, to use Rids' stats and TBurg's word - extrapolation, Jade is actually the leading receiver....interesting. Ha!

Nate Coehoorn - 85 catches for 1,152 yards

Marco Iannuzzi - 85 catches for    929 yards

Kito Poblah       - 85 catches for    856 yards

Jade Etienne    - 85 catches for  1,173 yards

Anthony Parker - 85 catches for  1,052 yards.

you didn't include TDs?

TDs are different, they are more specialized, specific targets, plays, preferred celebrations, that sort of thing.

Besides when you apply the same formula, you get fractions. Ex Jade would have 8.5 TDs, Iannuzzi 10.25 TDs

Heck, using that formula, I think I get a TD.

Congrats.  You have just proven that Jade has slightly more yards per catch than the other players.

Fantastic, isn't it?

A new word, a new proof, a new hope for a quality receiver going forward.

And we owe it all to you.

Before Labatte signed with the Riders I don't recall any talk about losing Saskatchewan-born players to the Riders. Now people talk (some in jest and some seriously) that any player who is even related to someone in Saskatchewan should not be taken or won't  re-sign. It gets rather ridiculous at time.

The subject has been raised here & elsewhere. I'm surprised that you never heard this before.
