Forget the injury and long term health concerns, Zach has been on a decline production wise since 2023.

And his football IQ was off the charts imho.

For sure, he developed the tools he needed. Its always the guys who keep growing and improving no matter the age that become top tier.

Injury after injury after injury piles up on our man ZC and he keeps coming out the other side. I love what he has done and continues to do for this organization, the CFL and the Manitoba community but all of this is a distant second to my hypersensitivity in how will he be in 5 years, 10, 15? I’m hoping he has not passed the point of no return.

It's been all but confirmed that Collaros is done at the end of this year and joining DAZN next year. I think he (and likely Stan and some others...) just wanted to go out in top with one last run at the Cup. Hopefully he can come back but those concussions do add up...

All 6 of these #CFL QBs have missed more games due to injury from 2021-2026 than QB Zach Collaros has since joining the #Bombers in 2019.

Since 2019 Zach Collaros has started 87 out of 101 games. Missing only 10 from injury and 4 from rest late in season.

Assuming that his issue is concussions, he needs to quit before he is permanently disabled. Matty is a clear example of the long-term effects.

He also clearly played a large portion of games he shouldn't have been in, including where his finger was barely hanging on.

idk if he wants it tbh. Or atleast maybe doesnt want it out side of mtl

I think most coaches would want to. He probably wonders if he could be as successful as some of the gujys he coached & played against. I think iot would bother him if he never tried. He needs to just stay the you know what out of Ottawa.

Wasn’t implying ZC has incurred more injuries than other qb’s. Also having less number of injuries than others doesn’t negate anything on potential impact to him. I’m just focussed on the type of injuries he has incurred and potential long term impacts to his health after his playing days are done. But thanks for the stats.

So I’m watching the 2019 Western Semi finals against the stamps and I’m just kind of reminded. 2019 we trade for an established, but often injured quarterback who lost his job.. I turn on the tv and see the unexpected and even perhaps controversial trade of Kawhi Lenard to the Raptors.. 2019 was a good year for both teams im just saying ;)

Who cares about the Raptors?

Who cares about the Raptors? There's enough Toronto sports crap rammed down our throats by the Toronto sports media in this country every day that they can all go to Hell. TSN, Sportsnet & The Score. Then there's Postmedia as well. I don't give a care about the City of Toronto, the Blue Jays, Raptors & especially the Leafs. Not at the expense of our local pro sports teams as well as local news & sports.

I think it’s more the progression over time and the fact that these are all head/neck injuries, not broken bones.

At 36, he played every game.

At 37, he missed 5 games and left several more due to injury.

At 38, he’s missed 5 so far, including being unable to finish several others.

This doesn’t get better over time.

Curious if we make any changes other than Dru starting.

I wouldn't put Collaros missing more games every year all down to injury his advancing age or injury progression. Blame Walters & Osh for allowing the OL to deteriorate every year by continuing to play players who really have no business being on the field or letting good young linemen get away.

Pat Neufeld & Stanley Bryant have no business being on the field & should have been replaced three years ago. They let Liam Dobson, JeMarcus Hardrick & Michael Couture leave in free agency. Their replacements have been hit & miss at best. The Walters draft record the past 5 years for new OL isn't very good. You have to wonder who'll be leaving this off season the way Mutt & Jeff run things. They pay Collaros $550,000 & then cheap out or let old men who should be in a football home for seniors play as long as they want & fans wonder why Collaros & Brown keep getting hurt.

Now if the Blue bring back Zach next year... then we riot.

For him and his family’s sake he should retire. His long term mental health (CTE) is already compromised, IMO.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have placed Zach Collaros on the six-game injured list. The team issued an updated depth chart and roster list on Thursday morning. According to the team’s official injury re

ZC to the 6-game, so missing at least a couple games.

No other roster changes.

Harris should be on this list too shouldnt he? Missed most of 23 with his Tibial fracture.

I think Fajardo is close on the injury list as well

Time to move on from Zach. I dont think Brown is our best plan after, but let's see how he plays the remainder of these last few games. I really dont see us in the playoffs now so KW and Osh better start the rebuild for real

Do you have a source for this? And why leave out Fajardo who has missed the fewest games out of any QB during that time. Harris is also missing and he's missed a ton of games.

A quick search shows ZC tied with Dru at 12 games missed due to injury. It also puts him ahead of Rourke & Ford (they each missed 10 games). TBF, their situations were different so they could have easily missed more games had they been starters (or even in the league) during that entire time.

Kelly is an interesting case since he was only actually injured once, it just happened to keep him out all of last season (even after he said he was ready to come back part way through). BLM is similar - a couple of big injuries wrapped around 3 complete seasons really inflate his numbers. Unsurprisingly, VAJ & Harris are the most consistently injured with only 1 complete season in that stretch between the 2 of them (Harris in 2022).

From what I see, the numbers should read:

  • Fajardo: 6 games

  • Ford/Rourke: 10 Games

  • Brown/Collaros: 12 games

  • Kelly: 18 games

  • VAJ/Harris: 24 games

  • BLM: 25 games

And the issue we’re discussing is not the # of injuries incurred, it’s the type of injuries incurred overtime and how that can impact the long term health of a professional athlete like Zach Collaros. Matt Dunnigan would be a very relevant example of what can happen.
