You're right.....was going to add that but was too lazy to look it up...There was some connection with the Dru trade, that we made the first rounder a part of the deal...Seems we're bolloxed from all angles

That being said if he also just sits on his lil giney and echos the nonesense No Balls does..then off both they go in november

U can turn it around in 1 yr up in Canada

Might be a lot of whining if we have to eat 2 yrs of his salary....guess we'd have to weigh it all out

No Connor McDavid for us. Oh cfl draft. Had a dude ever turned a franchise around year 1 of their eligible cfl draft year. ??

Listening to the tsn panel, during the Elk game last night, the overall opinion, including Milt was that we have the weakest corps of players in the league...I think most observers would agree, and that we might be looking at the first overall in the draft next year seems a big possibility....Small consolation for sure considering the big hopes we had for this year....I don't see any quick fix on the horizon for this club other than a rebuild starting now....We can see the deadwood but will it be addressed properly considering the head coach and his tendencies...Miller and Walters have to start doing their job....NOW and that should be a given

We won't have the first pick in the draft. That'll be Ottawa.

Ok so we're getting closer to you admitting that there's some legit criticisms of the coaches and that they shouldn't be criticized just because there also needs to be some better scouting and recruitment.

Nobody is placing the blame squarely in one corner but if you have a coaching staff that isn't getting the most out of what they do have that's your primary issue because even if you do get all the Allstars at every position what good is it if the coaching staff isn't making them as successful as can be?

We were immensely talented in 2019 and 2021. Coaching was exactly the same. Coaching never got in the way of 3 straight cup appearances afterwards. Proĺly cost us one GC in that span and partially contributed to two other losses but at the end of the day being one or two plays away from 5 straight cups speaks to what this staff can get out of their talent, when they have it at their disposal.

Talent trumps Coaching 7 days a week. Unless your coach is intentionally trying to lose, talent will carry the day more times than not. Does our Coaching need improvement? Absolutely. Its not good enough to get wins out of a not very talented team.

You said it yourself, coaching cost one grey Cup (I would argue 2 but seblantics) I would also suggest that given how talented those teams were we could have been even more dominant with better coaching.

So the point is, when you get a supremely talented team that by the coaches own admission ran the room and you also had coordinators at the time who had been head coaches doesn't that perhaps speak to the limitation of our head coach?

I want a coach who gets the most out of his roster. If you're doing that and still losing then you know exactly where the problem areas are. When the coach isn't getting the most out of his roster it is a lot harder to separate the good from bad

I want a coach that wins. That is my one and only criteria. Dont under sell how hard it is to get to 5 straight championships as a coach. There have been a **** ton of more talented teams than our 5 year run that could not get the same level of winning consistently as we did. Sometimes, what the average fan interprets as bad coaching or roster management is in fact building a locker room. We run our mouths because we are not inside the locker room, coaches offices to know better.

I would like to see better coaching in some aspects, and our coordinators definitely have some work to do, but there isn't a coach in this league I would rather have rebuilding our team than MOS. Fact is, that's what we require.

Once upon a time maybe, but O'Shea has overseen this decline and done nothing to indicate he can recognize or that that he is willing to change. He has been here for a long long time. No one coaches in one place forever, least of all people who can't adapt

Once upon a time? Dude is still the same coach as he was before. Difference is the commitment to upgrade and/or finding talent. We spun our wheels until Rigmaiden came to town, then we had a solid talent pipeline and Osh was able to lead that into the best 5 year run our team has had in 40 years...maybe ever. You guys are so hellbent on him being fired you are dismissing the fact that given the right talent he can shape it into a winner.

But hey let's believe that instead of their being a talent deficiency that MOS would rather play lesser talent while allstars languish on the bench or are cut in preseason.

Osh, to me looks lost. I don't think he has any answers so he tells us that game film tells the truth. We all know his shortcomings as a head coach. After 13 seasons, he's the last guy I believe that can build us a winner. But relax, he'll be here until his contract expires due to the coaching & admin cap. Even if we don't win another game.

I don't think he is the same coach. I think he's more conservative now than when he started. I mean when's the last time we ran a trick play? He was well known for that sort of thing or using the rules to his advantage but we haven't really seen that in years.

The narrative on MBB from 2018 - 2022, was that the culture that O'Shea had built was attracting talent to Winnipeg and we would continue to see the results of that. Since roughly the end of 2022, the narrative has been roster management.

We were basically self coached and policed...by in prime studs...coaching even in the glory 2 yrs was minimal...and now that they have to...and had to before the cups.. well we see the results.. no clue..no answers....basically no hope

Was he ever really a good coach..per say..I have my doubts...leader..maybe ..and its easy when u are loaded with studs who dont need to be coached for most part

He even himself said he doesn't really know the x and o part of things and should sharpen up on that...so how is he to see an issue let alone fix it?? He can't...plus he is stubborn...and has his bias' many of which are not for the actual betterment of the team

Too much credit to him..a lot was internal team culture cultivated by vets..he allowed it to flourish and rightfully so...he even said he downt go in the room and allows his vets to run the show...and also said he didnt really have a handle on the vibe in locker room in one interview...sure he had a lot of a part in in...but it wasn't some new concept that he invented and was the main reason...

But times change...message change...concepts and how teams prepare..and play has changed...he hasn't...doesn't look like he can...probably never would anyway

I would not be against changes at all. It's just that with all the current issues, the positive aspects of the O'Shea era are not being remembered, and it is being implied that success happened in spite of him. I just want remind all of us that Bombers teams in early 90s and also early 2000s, laden with talent, did not win championships.

Strongly disagree. O'Shea has a track record of favouritism, poor roster management , and rigid thinking. All of which make him a poor coach.

Thing is his flaws used to be able to be overlooked because of the positives... But after 13 years he's a lot more stubborn and doesn't have the prime guys that he rode hard. I believe we need a change and if the coach won't change himself then it might be time to consider a change at the position.

And pretty good indicator that a lot of the success was in spite of most of his shortcomings

Now he isnt laden with younger talent in its prime..and has to avtually coach up..scheme and produce the best lineup based on talent..he cant

Tell us Coach Belicek, what makes a good coach in the year 2026. Keeping in mind you’re 50 plus and you’re not 20 anymore and times thru have the changed. Coach Ditka? Tell us? Coach cals ghost? Loved you dude but that **** wouldn’t fly in 2026. O’Shea is the same as all coaches really. I don’t disagree with anything you actually said other than you thinking you know what makes a good coach in 26, you were verbally whacking off RD all off season and even in the other games thread, Ottawa can’t win a game and you think you know what makes a good coach in 2026? Man, seriously. This is the part of fan forums that are just, you’re kidding yourself dude who prob works in an office building or did or perhaps a farmer in the dell. Who knows. O’Shea tho played pro and was one of the best cdn lbs ever, he’s now a coach and the winningest one in our history. He knows more than all of us on here, I’m not sure why dudes who work in offices or lift weights think they know more.

Name a long time coach who don’t play favourites. I’ll tell you what tho, in sports most the time there’s also a gm who makes the coaches job easier by signing drafting or trading assets for better players. Tim white? He’s ok but he’s 32? Not that young. Could have signed Eberhart probably or Mack even. Both probably if we let Stan and Nichols go prob or didn’t sign them.

No doubt. It is quite the stretch to blame everything on the coaches when we lose and to say the coaches had nothing to do with it when we win. That's just nonsense imo. Our coaching could be better right now..no doubt about it but our coaching and GMing were top notch for our evolution from laughing stock to powerhouse in our Grey Cup years.

The 2019 Grey Cup run was a master class in coaching for instance. We finished 3rd in our division and Hall's gameplanning was unreal, and Lapo's use of the QB tandem was excellence in gameplanning.

Doesn't have the talent in its prime. Does that sound like a coaching deficiency?
