Heard yesterday morning out of Regina a Rider player had been in a wreck and that it was likely the Rider players fault, didn't know who until afternoon. Then a lot of locals went off on a "brown guy

I want Lewis because he can be plugged in and play next game.... alternatively if we find a young American receiver this organization will keep him on the PR or sit him down and he would get if lucky 10 snaps in the regular season and will be completely raw if needed during play off time (assuming we make the play offs).

It's so damn rare that this organization just gives any young guy a shot during the regular season unless we face multiple injuries. So with Lewis I'd hope O'Shea would start him since he is a known name.....

Basically yeah..only players osh would insert new to the team is a vet cut free..and even thats probably a stretch

You want context? You can't handle the context! Maier's deep ball completion % is the same as Davis Alexander's at 43.9%. Browns is 16.7%. That doesn't say Maier is a bad deep ball QB who is holding Lewis back, which was your opinion stated as fact. The huge differences are that Alexander has a single pick,(Maier has 6 and Brown has 4 (which in his case is 1 more than his completions)) and Alexander is throwing to Philpot who catchs more than 1/2 the deep balls and Sneed who catches 1/3'd of them.

Philpot (MTL) caught 10 of his 19 deep balls over 50%. Lewis is 3 of 11 about 27%. Demski and White are 3 of 7 for 42%. Nield is 0 of 4 so Lewis is better, but also means changing the ratio. Every receiver who has been targeted at 20+ 10 or more times has a better catch percentage except Lawler who has some pretty bad QB's throwing to him. Now there's a case for bad QB's being the difference.

We all get it. You're blaming bad QBing for Lewis' lack of production and bad receivers for Browns. The stats don't back your story up on either side of the ledger. Brown's problem is overthrows. We've all seen it.

Again using stats without context. A throw 40 yards downfield is counted the same as a 20 yard toss though one is far more difficult to complete. While one OC might break at 17 yards in the intermediate zone the other's route tree call for 20 yards. Both are literally the same ball but one gets credit as a deep ball and one doesnt. Let's compare 35+ and see if the numbers still show Maier beating out Brown.

Let's also eliminate garbage time completions of 20+, and no one had more than an 0-7 team, because defences are in prevent and are 20 yards deep off the snaps. Like I say stats without context are a fools game.

I don't think you understand the word context... I was going to continue, but I just realized I don't care what you think.

Lol that's rich coming from the guy who thinks stats alone tell the whole story. Its ok that you either dont understand what you are watching or simply aren't watching, so stats become your Bible on players...Just quit doubling and tripling down on it.

Stats are just one useful tool when assessing a player but they are not even remotely the most important assessment tool. Not by a longshot. Advanced analytics might take you closer to the truth, but again they dont tell the whole story. One must watch and see what the stats aren't telling them.

There are so many variables that can spoil or artificially inflate a stat line that are beyond that players control that must be factored in.

We don’t seem interested in using three import recs so none of this really matters. Lewis won’t come here to sit on the pr.

We are at point offensively we have to give it a try.

So then, why did so many fans here & elsewhere want us to bring those 3 back? We all know what we get with Osh & Walters. Lots of you were so happy they re-signed. I just don't get it.

I don't think that is the case. For myself I have zero issues with Walters... I think it's all coaching issues.

I have not liked our D at all even during the Grey Cup run. I absolutely can't-stand-za (can't stand) the playing 10 yards off the receivers and giving easy 5 - 8 yard passes every time. Against shitty qbs it works... against any good QB who can make a quick read... we get torched BADLY. I'm shocked that that Jason Maas consecutive completion record has not been broken against us. At least we were good against the run before hand... Maybe Javon Santos Knox may have made a difference? Who knows. D is awful.

I think people were optimistic about Condell because Hogan was so god damn bad that ANYTHING is better. I think the idea of giving the keys to a known name rather then a complete nobody (Hogan) was why people were feeling good. Unfortunately Condell is feeling like Belle-fool 2.0. 100% needs to go.

The O'Shea I think the fact that he broke our huge losing streak at the cup gave him a tonne of good will. I believe many fans are starting to remember the pre Grey Cup run days with him. Maybe second guessing is happening since he's shown zero change in the last few years. Guys like BUOOOOOOOOOONO and Dickenson and whoever else usually will cut their losses and at least try to make big changes. O'Shea is just... there. the FIFO gimmick has ran its course. I don't want a loose cannon like Dinwiddie , but count me in on giving someone young and hungry a chance. Sometimes it works out (see Saskatchewan).

You can't really argue against using stats without context while providing stats without any backing.

Ottawa has 18 completions that travelled more than 20+ yards downfield... so that is just about 2.5 a game. 2 of those came against the Bombers when they were up. The Bombers are the only team with less 20+ yard completions than them apparently (with only 10). I'd like to see the backing that the rest of those 16 were all in garbage time. And I guess while we are relying on the eye test we can eliminate the times when teams are way up and the defense is pressing trying to get to the QB?

And wouldn't a prevent defense increase passes thrown 10-19 more than 20+ downfield? We are talking yards in the air not yards total.

If you look at balls 10-19 yards down field, Brown is 27/36... ish (hard to extrapolate the data with Collaros playing the first 5 weeks+ and then Brown taking over) which would be about 12 points better than Maier at 32/51 (but I think that had a couple MBT passes in there as well).

There's no readily available data on passes 30+ yards downfield... but the fact that Brown has only made 3 passes more than 20+ yards downfield would make it harder for Maier to be worse.

Is there anyone Dinwiddie hasn't thrown under the bus? Can't imagine he's looking very appealing to potential FA's or coaches looking for a home.

Yeah, if he's reasonably healthy thats an easy upgrade. The fact he hasnt been grabbed yet makes me think he isnt though.

Last 5 months. RD tho in reality prob not as much of a football guru as people thought.

Dinwiddie is trying to do way too much.

GM + Head Coach + Offensive Coordinator. Then on top of that giving the Defensive Coordinator notes, which the Head Coach would be want to do but you can only have so many fingers in so many pies.

He is a very talented football mind, but I don't think he's a leader or capable of developing guys. He seems like the kind of coach who works in a perfect vacuum.

Yep, that is always a mistake. Im not even a fan of a HC being a primary CO.

Yeah wearing too many hats is always a problem. Honestly that was Mike Kelly's biggest problem here too.

Think it's ego with some of these guys.

Demise of Corky Jones too...but he also had being an assbag factor into it too

Idk who the bigger assbag is tbh. But both 100% right. I'll throw in Reinbold here too.

It's kind of funny; we have the exact opposite problem here now. Deslauriers/walters in Canadian scouting, plus walters/mac. JY/Hall. Mos/Mmiller, Addison/LHall, Even Condell/Hogan. Instead of one guy doing too many jobs, we got too many guys with overlapping jobs.

Dinwiddie is showing himself to be a huge assbag this year but Jones has years of unparalled success in the field, so he's in the lead.

Reinbold, was he an assbag or incompetent?

and I think therein lies the disconnect

over his head....too nice....wanting to be too much one of the boys...he wasnt ready

I bet now tho...with top notch coords he would make a good HC...And he is one to take chances...actually play to win

In Dinwiddie's defense, he's the boss. If he said to the DC simplify things & he said no or ignored the ask then Dinwiddie is in his right to fire him. if true, Fields chose not to listen. But throwing Brown, Lewis & Fields under the bus makes things look really bad for Dinwiddie.

In other news, OSEG (who own the RedBlacks) may not want to spend the money regarding their share the cost of the Lansdowne Park reno that is scheduled to start this coming off season. The City of Ottawa refuses to pay its part to replace the roof that is on the old grandstand already there. Season ticket holders are cancelling as they want a roof over their heads like they're used to but the City of Ottawa keeps saying no. With just 15000 showing up every game OSEG may cut their losses & fold the team which would kill the renovations. That way OSEG can get out of their share of the construction costs before shovels go in into the ground. The RedBlacks have lost their fanbase & may never get them back. The lawsuits are going to be flying back & forth.

For more than one reason. Team morale has to be low and if other players have an offer to come here, they have to look at the current M.O. of the management and coaching and question if they want to be here.
