His route running isn't the best that's for sure. But I suppose that's to be expected.

Getting to the QB would be a bonus but really anyone that can disrupt and eat up roll outs and escape lanes for the QB would be welcome...consistently of course. Getting that OT to back pedal would let Ceresna and Willie eat

He's not going to have huge route tree, as I doubt we utilize him as full time receiver. He's going to be the guy that takes a guy out of the tackle box on SY because if teams cheat we will send him on a simple pass and catch route for easy yards

I hope someday he develops into a 5th receiver role as that would give us an elite blocker on all running plays too

I love that dante uses his frame to its fullest and goes up to high point balls. Even with out a massive vert he’s gonna be soo tough to cover.

I think he might flex or motion out for some routes. Could have him cross the formation into a slot waggle forcing a wil or small db to switch to him.

He looks a lot more athletic than I thought he would. Very interesting player to watch over TC.

FWIW every rep they showed in that video was against a Rifles player and he had zero separation on all of them. On one the Rifles LB switched onto him late and caught him.

Guess if you're hoping the other team is in man and they send the WIL to follow him out there instead of just adjusting to a corner he'll give that. Every single player on a CFL defense will be more athletic than him other than maybe a nose tackle. Otherwise going to be a little rope and dope if his blocking is up to snuff to hope teams get locked on run and he can leak out and make use of the physicality to get some YAC. Doesn't look like he's going to get away from anyone.

White jersey so it should be a receiver - Dorian Singer

Hopefully. They only have Taylor down as 17, Singer not even on the roster but listed as 72 in Tait's article.

Are you wanting him to share what his thoughts are on the team, before day 1 of rookie camp ends?

That MOS poker face is in midseason form.

56 LB Ja'Kobe Clinton 6'2" 230 (West Florida)
51 LB Johnny Hodges 6'1" 231 (Texas Christian)
78 LB Cohen McCluskey 6'1" 225 (Rifles)

Id love to hear an honest appraisal of expectations and excitement for camp. FA and the draft were big wins for the front office and staff. I wouldn't expect him to single guys out, but talking positionally about how guys are gonna get a shot at DE or C would be good. Talking about how we moved to a younger, more athletic roster, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out vs the vets.

Personally, I'm numb to the fact that the last thing mos wants to do in any interview or coaches show is talk Xs/Os, positional play, players, etc. It is what it is. You can do that, though, without having to walk a line like a politician as a coach.

Anyone who walks up to Mos or Walters can have a great conversation on all things football. But put a semi-formal setting around mos, and you get drivel. To be fair, I bet the coaches' show would be a lot better if it were with brown or both PBP and color. Doug would push far more interesting questions, and if he got chippy, mos would brush it off but take it well. But that content, and his interviews in general are not aimed at fans like myself or most of the people here. It's aimed at the senior citizens who listen to OB and sit in coffee shops.

I’m with on this for a variety of reasons one being we are trying to grow the league and attract new people to this game so coaches across the league should be helping by spicing it up adding some color into those default beige type scripted answers. Why not?

Good to see your positivity is in mid season form...

I have no doubt he will begin his career as a gadget play guy until he sheds weight and increases speed but he exhibited good concentration, hands, and ball tracking. He might be a slow, oversized receiver...but he's a receiver. If he sheds the 25 lbs we are asking his speed should increase. He'll never be a break away downfield guy but if we can get him up to end zone specialist and occasionally possession routes his size will be hard to handle. At this point im not even against seeing if he has any DL game.

For what its worth, he doesn't look like hes 270 or too heavy. Havent seen enough to be sure yet, but Im not sure he will see significant increases in speed by losing weight. Especially 15-20 lbs.

Still, he's about as fast as corcoran but a giant mean ass blocking version of him.

I agree, his offensive side will likely be gadget stuff for a good while. But there is a lot of gadget you can work with him. Simple stuff like block and release, or screening him off brady to the same side but in a split, or across brady in a mesh.

Yeah a drop in weight alone won't really move the needle on his speed....there is specific training to increase it a bit but for most part a guy like that will never be a burner...but doesn't need to be

A receiving threat at TE on the jumbo alone will pay huge dividends in addition to the blocking aspect. And hopefully early and often we actually use him as a target so teams can't ignore it and have to scheme accordingly.

He will be just fine used as am initial chip block and slide out into the flats as a release valve or just in close to goal line or 2nd and short type situ's to just do a 5 yard up and out/pivot and box out the smaller defender for easy pitch and catch...Doesnt need to initially be exotic, but more use his assets of size.

I an see quick hitters also across the middle on a slant and let him just bowl thru guys for mice positive yardage....be interesting what Condell is cooking up, and thank god OC Guy from last yr will not have his fingerprints on the offence

Yep. Chris carter used to run a camp that helped a ton of guys to refine their speed and athletic measurables. Especially 1 sport football players who don't have natural speed. I know a bunch of camps like that operate now to help kids pre-combine down south.

A movement coach might even help him a ton.

Yep, plenty of use for a guy like that. Red zone fade route, even a drag route behind the play as a check down in the red zone will be good.

Agudosi had the bid height and length, but didn't use it well enough at WR. Prefering to body catch, a guy this big, who uses his size and length to hand catch balls, with the right passport and tons of blocking/teams use, will be a great end of the roster guy at worst.

That's a lot of what we do as well to get guys prepped for pro days....a lot of it too is just mechanics and learning how body should move....but he doesnt need to be super fast at that size if used correct

And yeah a fade into the corner...vs what is a lot of times a db who is sub 5'10...you gonna win that matchup 9 times outta ten. You would think too a quick hitter across the middle with his size, and what looks to be pretty athletic, that 5 to 7 yards will be easily gained as you would think he not going down easily and definitely not on first contact...just catch it...head north and drive for yards

I’m at camp today. First observation is DeShaan Dixon has the shortest shorts I’ve ever seen on a football player.

I'm happy for you for noticing.... Love is love baby!

some thoughts, with the usual caveats about limited reps, one day, etc

  • Penner from the Rifles fits in during skelly, rec drills, etc. the problem today was they did a tonne of sts blocking drills and he’s younger and smaller than everybody else and got bullied. He had one rep against Banks that was hard to watch.

  • Speaking of Banks, he looked great blocking but just ok as a receiver.

  • Both American rbs looked good. Both had some nice runs, and Arnold took a swing pass for 30ish yards in full scrimmage.

  • Payton Thorne looked really bad. Held onto the ball for a long time and threw a few picks in skelly.

  • Perkins turned the wrong way for a handoff twice on three plays. I can’t say for sure it was his fault, but the coach spoke to him after each one and the following play he’d turn the other way. I wasn’t very impressed by him either.

  • Poncius and especially Elsbury looked really good on the ol. Elsbury won every rep I saw. Only time I saw Poncius get beat was when he picked up the wrong guy in 2 v2s.

  • On the dl I didn’t see Dixon win a single rep. I thought KMB looked great. He’s small, but always gave the ol trouble.

  • Saw two Dante Daniels reps blocking. He got run over by KMB on one, then buried Aaron Smith on the next one.

No 1v1s today for recs, so that sucked. Singer ran a nice corner/post route in skelly, but the qb (Thorne iirc) threw it late and it got knocked out of his hands. Otherwise didn’t really notice any recs standout.
