Milt would likely be most impactful but Brown or Bolden might make us better overall. Prime Doug Brown maybe even Prime Philip Hunt would prob make us better overall tho. I think with Brady on O, we are ok, we prob don’t need that superstar receiver, wouldn’t hurt but the D guys would just make us harder to play against. Honestly prime bighill over tony jones any day. Makes us better.

How bout this.

Prime Doug over Lawson

Prime Bighill over Jones

Prime milt over white

Prime Bolden over either CB since fantasy talk the other corner could be Alford.

Prime hunt opposite Willie maybe even Jeffcoat but hunt was the man beast

I would take all or any of those trade offs with a big smile on my face. I would even take prime WIllie in a tie with prime Hunt.

Gimme 3 per side if we could just drop em in with how we run our defence and how the offence may be morphing

Bolden...dude didnt really have a position per say...He just was tasked with covering a teams best...T.Jones could be that Jack..off the edge pure rush end...MLB...run stiffling WIL and Greg Battle...dude could play all 3 spots even in todays game...and likely safety too

Milt is a given.....A prime time Sellers for what we are looking to do now, plus could be a feature back if needed.....and I sure Blink would find a nice role

That be my 6

Yeah....Hunt or the Animal Ron Warner pre NFL Imagine Warner...Prime WJ and Hunt all rotating along the line...with Ty Jones just lurking around....damn

Hunt wasn’t here long but man that dude made an impact. Would have loved to have him opposite Willie or even over Willie for sure. Dude was another level. Imagine both together in their primes. Unstoppable. With Brown and Ceresna. Just unstoppable

Which Bomber QB do you think fits this era better than Collaros?

If we could pass protect maybe Brock. Really no one else.

Collaros now? Lots because collaros looks pretty much toast more often than not. Prime collaros is a different question.

No Onterrio "The Whizantor" Smith

He's right up there with Pacman Jones and Darian Durant as all-time great Blue Bombers!

Collaros worst seasons have higher QBR and higher YPA than someone like Khari Jones best years. If you graft Khari Jones into this era hard to know how that would look. Lot more on QB plate.

Either way need to protect them. And that's been a big problem for us of late.

Don't forget about Todd Marinovich. He almost made it through 1 day of training camp with the Bombers.

At least he made it to camp! 😂

We have never, in the storied history of this franchise, had a better QB than "Prime Zach Collaros" (21/22).... Wouldn't trade THAT guy for the world...

QB Tom Clements in his prime. He could run a modern 2026 offense with his skill set. Receivers James Murphy & /or Joe Pop would thrive in the pass happy CFL. I'd also seriously consider taking ONE OF...linebackers, Tyrone Jones, James West or Greg Battle. As well as DT Stan Brown & DE Stan Mikawos.

Hey I never suggested Jones... my first thought truthfully was dunigan

not his sustained success. Short term i’d put prime dunigan up to that task though. He did a lot and had a lot less to work with

I shamefully spaced on Dunigan altogether ...that's a very good call. 92/93 Dunigan might have been better than Peak Collaros. Maybe.

Collaros is getting a lot of cred for team success IMO. I ain't seeing him go off for 700 yards in a game.

Yeah prime Dunnigan vs prime Collaros...Its Dunnigan for me everytime

AND all time best QB football IQ imo.

I’m late to the QB conversation, but yup…. Dunigan was the first guy that popped into my mind.

Hard to say. We've seen zach go off for 3-4 tds and 300 ish yards in a half or less a few times here. But we always took our foot off the gas and ended up pulling him. Zach would have a chance at replicating the production of that game, though not a fantastic chance.

Thing is, Matty could've had more in that game.

Yep, it didn't last as long as it should, but damn he burned bright in his prime.

Pretty much. Back in the day, great DTs never got the appreciation they deserved. Doug brown never got a sniff at MODP, little on mop. But is one of the very best players in that generation. He should've been in on it at least 4-5 times.

The thing is, QB play is pretty fixed these days. Top tier qbs don't move often, and are found even less frequently up here. The 3rd-4th best QB in the league isn't much better than the 10-12th best guys.

Meanwhile, the Lines are much more plentiful for upgrades. And those top linemen have a much bigger impact on winning then optmizing with in the mediocre tier of QBs. Teams and fans value the inside disruptor far more than ever before, but they are still not as high as pass-rushing bookends.

A great edge player who has a great game might get pressure on half his snaps. A great DT in a solid game might get pressure on 15% of his snaps, but converts far more of those into more punishment and more sacks, and also could easily disrupt the pocket on 2/3s of his snaps. We saw this with Kola getting roadrunner'd by Ceresna, entire games where Zach had no snaps where he could step up into the pocket.

No joke. At DL and QB, we just can't afford injuries this year. Not just Jake, willy or lawson too. Lawson goes down schmek is playing an old jake number of reps. willy goes down mid season and we have a handfull of combined games of experience among all the rest of the ends.

And don’t think for a second that O’Shea wouldn’t pull JT out of retirement if there were a couple injuries inside….. That just sent a chill down my spine.

Mid-season of the worst case scenario, JT in pads drives a car with a police escort to the airport to pick up Chris Streveler. Season saved, MOS dream come true LOL

Thanks for planting that seed.

Dunigan and others would also get you 20 INTs a season. Today's QBs don't get to gunsling like they used to.

Yup int's in the 20's...totally common...Heck Danny Mac thru 30 a couple times and had several more seasons with 25+ and several seasons with more INT's than TD's and over 4k passing

That being said Ol ZC has tossed 46 int's the last 3 yrs

I am a big enough Clements fan to have him as my avatar, but I dunno how 1987 MOP Tom Clements would stack up nowadays. Hard to compare QB play over the years. Quarterbacks are so much more careful with the ball now. Watching vintage Clements games, sometimes he'd make a ridiculous backfoot prayer throw into a crowd of DBs just because throwing a pick or three was no big deal back then, picks were just something that happened. QBs had to be really good at throwing picks, like Vince Ferragamo good, before their careers would suffer.

Hell, Sonny Wade stuck around for a decade with the Alouettes despite throwing 2x many interceptions as TDs.

So I was thinking about peak Collaros vs. 1992-1994 Dunigan and for me, it's Zach because peak Zach was much more durable and more clutch. Matty had teams good enough to win Grey Cups, but in 1992 the Calgary D owned him and 1993 he had an Achilles tear.

Thinking about durability, though -- if you look at games before the 2000s, there was very little official protection for the QBs. Pass rushers would routinely torpedo a QB two or three steps after he delivered the ball, no flag. It's astonishing to see some of the hits that old-school QBs would pop up from. So it's kind of a function of the era that makes Zach more durable ... tho Zach doesn't seek contact like Matty did.
