One day contract so Biggie can retire as a Bomber.

So of the 2 linebackers who is likely to fill the Gauthier special teams role better.

I like the DB. Nice size there.

Also turns out the kicker is a punter also.

DE was best available DLine so I’m good there. Mini camp with Denver.

Cline was nice. Was hoping for a futures pick and he’s a solid one.

I actually hoped we’d grab another futures pick but guess not. You never know.

Puke but liked Sasks approach.

10 of 18 picks were a punter or kicker.

Toronto really only team to not take a kicker or punter as they go 2 OL.

I'm sorry but we're going to have to let you go.

Time to part ways with under performing fans.

Let's not be hasty. Before we cut Goalie we need to make sure his replacement is in the MBB new member pipeline.

Don't want to pull a Mike Kelly and replace Goalie with Stefan Lefors!

Other than the Daniels trade/pick, Bombers got generally +ve reviews for most of their picks. We’ll see if Cline comes here soon but I’m hopeful. If Daniels is the “**** kicking blocker” Walters claims then maybe I’ll view the pick more +vely than I do now.

The nature of pro sports is what was old gets revived again sooner or later. Daniels, if he pans out, could give the Bombers the old-fashioned tight end who could block on running plays and smoke d-backs on short/screen plays and be a threat as a receiver. A receiver of that size in full flight would cause many clenched sphincters among 170lb defenders.

So between last night's first pick and today's first pick, did we take the new Kongbo and Hansen?

Walters: Blue Bombers CFL Canadian Draft takeaways - Winn...

All across the Canadian Football League today GMs, head coaches and personnel types are still riding the post CFL Canadian Draft high. There are high-fives and fist bumps galore and the usual euphoria

On Daniels they want him to cut weight and play that spot that Tui did in the heavy sets. Be a blocker and more of threat to catch a pass.

no but he is kongbo esq in a sense. But where kongbo was a polished balanced/run stop edge, nuer is a polished pass rusher.

The TE era for the bombers about to begin. We’ve been using that look for a long time. Gray, Eli, mci, etc. In the past we’ve run the ball down the throat of teams with 6 ol and run some max pro out of 6 ol packs.

All of that can be homogenized into 11 form with a real te, who can catch.

I wonder how dante feels about cutting weight. If he’s gonna be nfl bound eventually, they won’t want him coming in at 250/260.

Interesting global picks. Rotational glue guy dt and a pretty solid punter prospect.

In the end we checked all the boxes, though i’m not high on the wr prospect, when you factor in Dante as a te that gets better.

It’s not how any one would think to go about it, but it could work out real well. Big gamble of a draft.

I wonder how the roster would break down though. 5 starting ol, 1 back up, te, peterson, and mci. That’s a lot of big bodies. Plus Schmekel.

Is there room for a te, 2 back up rbs, a dt who blocks well, and a back up ol?

So post-draft, our remaining needs break down as follows;

Wr. We have 23 dbs and 16 wrs. For sure, need a couple more imp WRs for camp.

DE. 18 ol vs 13 DL. Specifically, 2-ish Nts and another pass rusher or two.

A backup LS and another KR or two are really needed for camp and insurance for Vaval.

If we are going into the TE market, we need to work someone like Schmekel into that backup some, and bring in at least 1 more guy for camp reps.

Otherwise, the depth is in a really good spot going into camp.

I think they see Taylor as a kr guy..and if we have the ability to dress him as one our designated imports he could be a nice change of pace on offence too..or in 2 back sets with BO

With the end we drafted...and what i expect to see more a role with Smith and Shay and less a need for an extra import LB and rotational end...especialy with Bailey too can see it being very feasable to have a guy like that as a returner/rb option.

That and or another stud legit inside DT type guy.

We have Woodbey..JSK..Ayers..Wilson..T.Jone..Griffin..and a couple real intruiging import rookies coming into camp..we have a glut of will and Mac guys..as well as Kramdi.. Smith and Shay...so a real logjam of guys at Will Mack and Sam and in all honesty Woodbey..Griffin..Smith..and Ayers could all handle the sam role just fine too and bump Kramdi to safety...interesting how we deal with them and who gets bumped off roster...or how we gonna configure the roster...based on the sets we ran last yr and our favoring depth guys for teams I could see all being on roster especially with 3 of the mentioned being Canadian.

And the fact that Griffin..Woodbey..Ayers..JSK..Smith and Kramdi can play multiple spots at a starter level...makes it even more likely.

I'm surprised we haven't signed a few more players after the tryout camps. IIRC we've only added 2 newbies. Yes we're a bit short on a few more import WR's.

Im sure they do. Will we DI a 2nd rb? Only if Vaval is hurt lol. I hold out no hope for a well-used offensive DI until it actually happens. I think we should look to have 4ish for camp. Especially with potentially 4 legs in this camp.

Bailey + Nuer is going to be a huge boost to our DL if we rotate modestly well.

Definitely thinnest at DT.

Lber is crazy deep. I bet OL and Lber are some of the first cuts in full camp. Love the versatility and size options we have in the secondary and line-backing core. Just gotta keep the chaff out of the way of the wheat.

I bet they are waiting for the rookie camps. Both ours and the NFL's. I think we will see a pretty good-sized turnover in young guys between rookie camp and the first week and a couple of days of our full camp. Not just the usual wr/dbs either.

I hoping with Condell he has some sway to get that versatile DI that can be used on offence and return...And if Vval lands a CB spot and does dual duty it be nice to be able to give him a breather here and there

The Bailey and Nuer combo...Both being non counters for a DI spot is gonna be huge and give us something we havnt had in a while...A pure speed guy off the edge in Nuer and a guy in Bailey who is flying under most peoples radar who can speed rush and bull rush even though he isnt a bigger end....plus he has shown he is a disciplined looking run stopper guy...It be a shame if both were not on the roster, but it's a high probability they will be...and lets hope JY gets free range in how and who he gets to use in rotations...A front in some sets with Ceresna...WJ...Bailey and Nuer...of who all can be off the edge would give olines fits

With the guys we are returning....who we drafted and a couple interesting new signings...I can see JY having a real high octane defense this yr, and if we roster it correctly a large amount of the guys who arent "starters" per say being able to freely rotate in with no drop in play and keep us fresh all game long

That would be great.

I'd love to see vaval take a step forward as a db this year and be able to be the bench dime. We need all the help with DI flexibility we can get.

Imagine if we used the naturalized american designation on WJ? Start Nuer on paper and wj can balance half the games reps as a canadian.

Oh yeah, the D should be exceptional this year. Anticapting no rookies starting or being a primary rotational guy unless they beat guys who've been here. Tons of play makers all over the field, depth, versatility both positionally and ratio wise.

JY is gonna have some real tough decisions to make. This is the type of camp cuts that is both haunting and mouth watering for coaches.

Another great piece from Tait, on Dante Daniels. Hard not to root for a guy like this & it sounds like he'll bring some of the attitude we've been missing.

“My coach always says, ‘You’re one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, but you’re a dickhead on the field,”” Daniels laughed. “On the field, I’m a completely different person."

The norm is to sign them now so they can attend rookie camp. Yes we'll be adding and deleting as TC progresses, but we're a little thin at some roster spots.

best players are always that way.

His coordination, balance, agility, and body control are fantastic for a guy soo big and who has mainly been a blocker. Strong natural hands as well, without bad catching habits.

I think Zach is gonna love this kid as a pressure release target. If he drops 10-15 lbs, gets a tad faster, and learns to waggle some, he is going to be a deadly multi-use guy. I can see a whole lot of mike sellers in him.
