His lack of dominant measurable athleticism is gonna kill any chance for him to run around in the NFL. Imo, he is gonna be rookie camp fodder for them.

For the toxicity, I'll say he reminds me a whole hell of a lot of young BLM. AC, and a bunch of other top-tier CFL QBs. If he were 6'-6'1, this kid would've been drafted and gotten millions guaranteed. He did everything he possibly could, was maybe the best qb in college football over the last 2 years, and no team even wants to give him a contract for camp. He's got a chip on each shoulder the size of hardrick. And his ego got punched right in the mouth. So I get why he's getting the rep and the red flag claim, but honestly, I think it's the same as every other QB in college who played remotely at that level. It's been what 14 years since the last Heisman finalist didn't get drafted? And that was prio fa signing.

How he bounces back from that adversity will speak volumes. If he puts his head down and focuses on outworking, everyone takes it in stride and keeps going. He isn't gonna be a headspace problem.

He isn't Manziel, its kind of funny that he's working with him and all that, but this kid isn't that. Manziel was a party animal who loved winning but not enough to put in the work. Pavia is a chess player to Manziels ' poor checkers player.

The thing I see that I don't like is his wind-up/release speed. Now, on play action and a few plays where he has to get it out fast, he does that much better. You coach him to lose the pause/hitch in his throwing motion full-time, and he's the best you could ever hope for in a CFL QB prospect.

I would've been pretty open to trading the rights to Elgersma, Id be far more reluctant to swap Pavia away. A team would have to really break the bank with an offer. This is the kind of Canadian draft where a team could offer that level of value, though.

There's more online to watch this kid than every QB prospect we'll see in over a decade combined. And right now, I'd say the chances are very good he won't be in an NFL TC.

Yeah this is an interesting case for sure. I hope we maintain his neg rights intil he either shows up...or makes it 100% apparent the CFL is not and will not be on his radar

Humble pie can be a huge accelerator for guy to switch gears and actually improve his standing, and just based on how/what a QB with his kind of skillset can do up in Canada with the right grooming....could really turn him into something that could have success up here for yr....All depends on whats between his ears and if he is willing to make that decision and use the CFL as a long term career thing. There have been a lot of QB's over the decades who have tuned his similar attributes into really good careers

As for NFL...never gonna happen...mini camp invites I doubt turn into anything tangible and a yr of that...and staggering around in the wilderness for a giy who if he wants to actually play...I bet translates to a venture up North

Yeah, pretty heady move to have him on the NL for a while.

Sure can, if a guy like this takes the humble pie right look out.

I really don't think he's the type of kid to sit around for a year hoping for a tryout or a shot, too. The UFL winding down really plays into our hands with him.

Guys who excel at throwing downfield 50/50 balls tend to do well in the CFL. Guys who can use superior placement/touch to turn 50/50 match-ups into 60/40 or better are extremely valuable. I see potential to be a better than guy.

Really like the looks of this Pavia kid...You can tell this guy has the goods to make the grade wherever he ends up...He's got that spunk and talent that'll make him a winner... Seems he's got a chip on his shoulder after the NFL draft didn't go his way...I sure wouldn't mind trying to turn that chip into blue chip Bomber stock..Dreamin' I know but never say never I always say,,,,

Really interesting watching his highlight package. That is a mid arm if I've ever seen one. But nearly all his throws are tight spirals and on time. Seems to know where the defense is going to be, and doesn't telegraph where he's going with the ball, which is enough sometimes to feather in some passes in the zones. At the pro level? I have no idea.

Looks like a really savvy player...almost like a point guard out there. I like that he finds the forgotten man once he starts to scramble.

I haven’t watched any of his film. How does he stack up against a guy like Davis Alexander in the measurable.

Alexander can’t have him beat by more than a couple of inches.

I think his arm looks worse than it is because of his motion. It looks very high effort and slow, then the velocity is just ok out of his hand. When he shortens his throwing motion, or changes his release angle it has the same velocity. Release speed strong impacts the perception of zip.

Arm strength will never be his strength, but he has plenty to make the throws.

I’ll take that frozen rope touch over a rocket launcher any day.

I think the big question for him up here is how well he adjusts to the nuances up here. Timing with the waggle will be a real challenge, not to mention the wide throws.

Pavia is such a little weasel, I’m really hopeful he doesn’t come here. Incredibly difficult guy to root for.

In other news, sounds like the Bombers met with Vaccaro in person on Saturday. I really do wonder if we’re going to make a move tomorrow to try and move up a few spots.

"We got the steal of the draft"

"I can't believe we drafted him"

I am ready for the draft.

"What are we going to do with 40 Line backers?!"

"Great hands, but can't run"

"Hes super athletic! but cant do football things"

"Did we just draft another long snapper?"

"Best teams guy in the draft"

Yeah...hopeful of a good draft...but also prepared to be disappointed too....and hear all the "intangible" reasons as for why we did what we did...almost wish they could lock Osh up in a closet for a day prior and day of draft to be honest

Do the Bombers trade up for the 1st overall pick? Our first + the extra pick to move up three spaces in a deep draft? Will this allow us to get at least 3 players that will move the team forward, or do they hold fast, and keep a potential 4th high level pick? Do we have room for 4? Do we lose a player from an area of need if we trade the pick? Do we lose out on Vacarro if we don't - and is that so bad? I'm not sure - as we are not privy to all the information.

Looking at our current roster - I would suggest our biggest area of weakness are OL -> reciever -> DL and then DB.

OL -> Neufeld (at the tail end of career) - Wallace - Eli - with Vibert and Uwubanwen as backups.

Reciever -> Demski - Nield - Clercius - with Cocoran and Cobb as backups.

DT -> Lawson - with Schmekel and Kornelson as backups

DE -> Bailey (Global) - no backup

Safety -> Hallet / Ball / possibly J Smith / Kelly (and we may use an American here to start)

LB -> perhaps use Shay and J Smith platooning at one position - Cadawallader and Novak as backups.

RB/FB -> Oliveira and Paterson/Chris Ike.

QB -> Elgersma will likely be one of the 20/21 Canadians on the opening positional chart

other: Sheanhan (global punter), Leroux (long snapper)

Have I missed anyone. Should be a fun night, and the global picks Wednesday. My son (12) and I are doing a draft party - and is usually one of the bigger days of the year.

Whoever the Bombers pick - it should be fun. I hope they give every pick, as well as all the new players they have already brought in a real chance to compete for the team - need a serious, all-out, no locks training camp this year - let the players win their position.

Apologies about the long winded post.

If you see me at the games - I am wearing the bomber jersey with LANE on the back, #28.

Looking forward to the discussions and arguments on the forum this year! Apologies if I tick you off if I question a post or thought - I will endeavor to do it in a constructive way!

Shadeur Sanders was handled humble pie by dropping in the draft.... the fact that this kid didn't even get a sniff as an UDFA would have me believe that the guy must be a complete locker room cancer for nobody to take a chance on him.

good post and valid concerns...

DT we need to focus on really....and Receiver.....If we trade up to nab Vaccaro...even better really because 3 to 4 legit Canadian Olineman makes CFL roster that much better if it allows you to go heavy import on dline and or receiver...Just does

Our National dline depth save for Lawson is putrid...Even with the expunging of our weakest piece it's still garbage. Bailey the global is our next best non American...we need serious upgrades there.

Also I so dont want us to go 3 national receivers...we just dont have the horses...As it stands Clercius/Cobb and maybe a under radar Draftee this yr are adequate backups to Demski and Neild but seeing as we dont know how to utilize Clercius (Maybe Condell will fix that) starting him or god help us Corcoran, who in my opinion is the least worthy National receiver in the league basically just gives us a 5th guy who really will have no real impact whatsoever and not garner much attention...Now a guy like Banks who has NFL metrics slathered all over him on the outside would garner a big amount of attention and open things up for our top 3 guys....He is not the typical new import who ahs great film and lotsa accolades...he's a victim of his past and NFL moving on from guys who came into draft yr with past issues....and the issues really were nothing anyway. The fact he even up here is shocking to be honest...but a huge get for us. If allowed he could have Chris Mathews rookie vibes all over him but better, as he is already more polished and has a better all around game

If we choose to go 3 nationals..Just cause it makes Osh feel all warm and snug in his tighty whites and let a guy like that walk...or any other import who impresses and would benefit from a yr of learning the CFL....then thats just sad

Safety too is a position we should go Canadian at..We have the depth there with Kramdi (as to where that where he should be)..Kelly....Hallett in areal pinch and there are some intriguing draft guys this yr who could push to be an immediate backup this yr

Drafting smart and drafting guys with good defensive film and NOT just ST ability can set you up nicely with backup depth whop can come in due to injury/rotation and have next to zero drop in abilty...we have soooo gotten away from that with these plugs that we think are so great on teams

Plugging in a Korny and or Schmeck in lieu of Lawson due to injury or for rotation to maintain ratio is a serious downgrade and majority of time when we use that...and also had Thomas out there in past yrs were the plays we generally get gouged

Yeah definetly more of a scrambler than a runner, which could translate better to our game in terms of passing if he can make some throws from the pocket.

He's actually a lot like young Collaros IMO, but he had a lot better OL in college.

Its hard to know how much is headspace and how much is being a 5'9 QB. He sounds to me an awful lot like BLM in the calgary dynasty era. Not some thing Id relish, but not uncommon at all.

We really need to hit on a rotational DL in the draft.

yup...we soooo weak in that area its kinda sad. I guess on a plus side of it if we gonna use Kramdi somewhere, and we have the roster where we dont need but 1 Canadian on the defence, then I guess we could sub Lawson out for an import...or use the allotted snaps on a Nationalized American there...aka actually use the rule the other 8 teams take advantage of and if Osh refuses then Walther's and Miller should be giving him a smack upside the smug mug

That's why it's key we get 3 National Linemen playing on offence ad not go the 3 National receivers....as we really dont have the players to make that flourish and 1 injury in a game and we may as well go 6 lineman or actually utilize MCI as a TE/Fullback hybrid because that 3rd spot woud be useless really....and until he proves he's not done like dinner ZC needs all the help/talent he can get running routes and having the defence account for everyone out there

Could CFL be next for Diego Pavia after NFL draft snub? -...

It doesn’t seem unrealistic that Heisman Trophy finalist Diego Pavia could end up in the CFL in the relatively near future. The highly-touted collegiate quarterback went unselected in the recent 2026

Pavias rights have become significantly more interesting. Passed on in the draft and not in the first wave of priority free agents yet.

Hard to imagine him not getting a camp invite atleast. surprised no one is talking a shot on him

I am probably out to lunch on this, but his style of play reminds me a lot of Doug Flutie, but who knows what his attitude is?

9 minutes ago, Tracker said:

Flutie or Tommy Clements.....this guy will pop-up somewhere and it wouldn't be bad thing if he ended up in the Peg

Pavia signed a 3 year deal with the Ravens.
