So which game is Woli doing the half time at this year?

You know you (we all) prob could make this happen. That’s a suggestion they likely wouldn’t laugh at. Give me Woli. Give me local bands. Give me dogs and frisbees.

If he does he will starve. He'd be a great guy around a camp fire but there are a ton of guys with a guitar that are far better than him busking for a meal. Live music went the way of the dodo bird a long time ago unless you are willing to play for peanuts or are an original songwriter good enough to get a recording contract (which Woogie is neither). When CDs came around it killed the live music industry. Bands get paid about 2/3 of what they were making in 1988. The going rate is about 100 bucks a guy per night. 150 on weekends.

And streaming killed the CD industry which is forcing muscians to go back to doing live shows.

Elgserma getting an invite to NFL combine.

Canadian QB Taylor Elgersma accepts invite to 2026 NFL Co...

Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgermsa has accepted an invite to the 2026 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, per sources. He becomes the second U Sports QB

^^

Going as a Camp Arm:

"Each year NFL teams can invite select free agents to the NFL Combine and Elgersma has garnered an invitation. He’s going along with Kyle Trask to help throw to the other positions during the combine process. Trask was selected in the second round, 64th overall during the 2021 NFL Draft. The combine runs from Monday, February 23 through Monday, March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium."

Just a practice arm. That ought to wake him up.

I have a feeling he is thinking it’s something it isn’t. I can’t think of any qbs who served as the camp arm to get signed out of that for camp, little on make a team. I could be wrong but it’s a pretty big hail mary.

It’s a strange move for him. It’s not bad by any means, I expect him to be ufl bound.

I don't think he nor his agent is doing him any favours dragging this out. A new crop of college QBs is coming online as of April, pushing his NFL offers further away plus the fact he hasn't played any meaningful football since Green Bay TC. The sooner he comes to realize his pro QB future is in the CFL, the better for him.

Desperation move.

Problem is that it crowds out the bar bands even more. There just isn't many live entertainment venues anymore and there are so many bands, even quality bands with recording contracts, fighting for these rooms that it is very difficult for a young band just starting out to get gigs unless they are willing to play for peanuts. When I started out in the hospitality industry I managed a couple hotels with live entertainment and the ground completely shifted in the early 90's. Full week gig venues became back 3 only, guys like Kenny Shields completely disrupted the scene as well by playing for peanuts at the A bars, reinvented the pay scale. Many venues just hired DJs because they were suddenly drastically cheaper if you rented a song library and just got a guy to play your cds. Then, of course, the liquor laws of the era that virtually killed the night clubs.

He’d require the work visa. I’m not sure that’s such a simple process right now. Things have soured a bit

I don't blame Elgersma one bit. The insane NAT draftee 3 year entry level deal is a joke.

It is what it is. He needs to parlay it into big bucks like Nathan Rourke did. Like Zach Collaros did. And any other qb who played well. It's not NFL money but would anyone of us sneer at $5-600,000 a year? Nope. Most, if not all of us here will never make that in a single year.

By the time he is in his prime that number is likely 700k per. The SMS is moving up at a pretty good pace right now.

And Rourke was able to weasel out of the pathetic rookie deal setup too after his failed attempt...Elgersma's camp should be talking to them

That being said he also has proven absolutely nothing...at this point is all hype and assumptions and only way to get away from that is realistically get to Canada where he will be given every chance possible...get some film and show that yeah..he's legit

I wonder if they might try to review section 9.03 of the CBA in the next round of negotiations.

Kurtis Rourke is in a similar situation, probably CFL bound eventually but because he was on the injured list all year that burns a year off his ELC.

Because Elgersma was chasing a PR spot it doesn't look like he is in the same boat, so if Rourke ended up on the CFL next year, he probably has only 1 year on his ELC, if Elgersma waits until next year he still has 3.

Apparently the Birmingham coach is saying that the plan is still to have Elgersma play for the Stallions, which is interesting because it sounded like the UFL wasn't on his radar

Rourke played 2 seasons on his ELC in the CFL and then had a full season worth of PR and Active Roster cheques so per section 9.03 of the CBA his contract was fulfilled.

The last year of his deal in 2028 pays Rourke $800,000. He'll probably become the first QB in this era to pay him a million dollars a season.
