Bombers-Als Pre Game Discussion

So the game is meaningless from our end as we can't pass Calgary and BC. Its the ESF for us. To me, they should sit Zach to keep him healthy. I'd also like to see Shay and Smith gets reps at linebacker. Call me crazy, but it would be nice to see our two high draft picks get actual reps on D.

I'm of two minds...

-Collaros and the starting offense want to prove they can get the job done after some really dismal performances of late

-Collaros has had more injuries this year than normal, and we're totally hooped without him, so why take a chance?

Provided he does not have broken bones protruding through his skin, then yes.

Even then MOS would look at him and go you good? motioning him back onto the field.

Collaros may play one series, but can't see him doing more than that mainly because:

Why risk him getting hurt, see that done that and it doesn't end well

Why give mtrl reps against our first string offence? OShea loves to keep his cards hidden as long as possible

what cards?....

the uno cards he brings to the poker table each week

Maybe handing off to Brady more than 3 times in the 2nd half

We have a better winning % with streveler than collaros

Yes cuz of Trey Vaval.

Facts is facts.

Sure. But you’d want Zach hurt b4 the game so Strev can have 5 weeks of reps to prepare. If he comes in mid game we are hooped.

I thought it was Go Fish? I can imagine the game between the coaches:

MOS -> HOGAN: Do you have any offensive game plans?
HOGAN: GO FISH!

HOGAN->YOUNGER: Do you know how to stop 2nd and long?
YOUNGER: GO FISH!

YOUNGER -> MOS: Why do you force me to play Jake Thomas?
MOS: GO FISH!

Griffin has played corner and here, you also have to remember we are fluid with secondary positions. We flipped a ton of guys through most of the spots this year.

I expect they will view the game the same way no matter how it shakes down. They will treat it the same way montreal will. Partial starters, many back ups, few starters play the 2nd half.

That may be true but we're better served in him not being limited to any specific role and removing Parker or Houston to get him on the AR.  Vaval is more likely to fill an in game injury at CB than Griffin IMO. That's not a bad thing or a knock, just a recognition of his versatility.

Yes I'd remove Ayers to get him on but O'Shea won't. It might be moot because Woods is nicked and might not play this week.

Woods was a full participant today.

What does 3rd place get you that 4th doesn't?  You're still on the road for the playoffs so I see no downside to letting some back-ups get some playing time and letting some starters get some rest.

A better record. Respect for playing to win. Momentum. More Bomber fans will attend games in Calgary, Regina or Vancouver than Montreal or Hamilton.

It shouldn't be necessary to explain this to you.

So a couple feel good points but nothing substantial - got it. For you in BC, getting to Montreal or Hamilton might be more of an issue but not for people in Winnipeg.  Besides, a handful of Bomber fans in attendance does what for the club?  I can't see a huge turnout in any city with the way this team has played this season. Regina might be the only exception to that due to location though. MOS will tell you (as any HC would) that the team will always be playing to win, regardless of who is on the field so I don't think they earn any extra respect there.  I'd respect him more for giving back-ups some playing time rather than risking injury to key players in a fairly meaningless game.

For me, the upside to 4th is being as healthy as possible and facing either a QB getting his first taste of playoff action or a team we just thrashed a few weeks earlier.   We may also get a slightly higher draft pick if nothing else (barring a miracle GC run).

Looks like the Bombers are going to get their sellout. About 30 tickets left to purchase on ticketmaster. Should be a nice day for football, about 13 at kickoff but a bit windy. I'm just happy because mercifully my kid's soccer tournament didn't schedule her a game on Saturday.

FWIW I think you need to go out there and play a full game. I get wanting to keep people healthy or playing for a matchup, but the reality is they haven't played really well in a month... and then even before that back in August. They are on a stretch of 4-4... that first win was against an injured Als team and then you have the 3 pass win against Ottawa, you smoke the Ti-Cats and then barely limp to a win against the B-Squad Riders. They need string 3 good games in a row which they haven't done since the start of the season... might as well make it 4 and start it on Saturday.

I think the offense is going to want to rinse the awful taste out of their mouth and prove they can actually move the ball, so I expect the 1s to play a couple series... Almost like a pre season game... Then make way for the 2s and 3s.

Pretty impressive season from a fan standpoint and I *think* it's the first full season sellout since we've been at Princess Auto.

Is it not the first full season sell out ever? (In Winnipeg)

Yeah, I’m pretty sure this sellout streak has already broken records.
