After a fast start, Wheatfall has 344 yards and 2tds in his last 11. Not sure he's a lineup lock.

Agreed, but apart from Demski, which receiver has?

They all have had turns now. I mean look at the numbers. Sterns had a few games. Demski did. Wheatfall did. Mitchell has had 1. Wilson has since returning. Clercius. I mean the milt stegall rookie schoen game breaker ain’t here but the 5 last game were pretty solid. I see some of you are like the cfl tho. You keep moving the goal posts with your complaints.

The Bombers had an amazing game that reminded us of what they looked like just a couple of years ago. To think this is the new normal is some magical thinking. IMO we're still the cross-over team this year.

The West feels completely wide open right now

Lions and Bombers have both had stretches where theyve looedk terrible, but they are the ones who are on the winning side of the ledger right now.

Saskatchewan can't trust their kicker, Harris is looking lost and the only team they've beaten in over a month have been the Bombers (and not very convincingly either sadly).

Stampeders are trying to emergency drop in players to fill gaps in their injury riddled defense, Adams is looking like a deer in headlights and in their last 3 weeks (all losses) they are something like -60

Big litmus test will be ho we come out if the bye....and if we put together another game like that....we seen too many great games...followed by complete ineptness....so gotta see some trend start here first.

But if we are starting to trend....getting healthy, and in my opinion still a tweak or 2 to really be super solid then this could be our turning point

Like you said...Harris is Harris and when the leaves start to fall...so does he....and i have zero reason to believe that Mace is a coach to lead a team to a Cup

Adams....is he reverting to bad VA at worst possible time?.....that being said...Mills is as solid as you can get and they may be getting Begalton and Henry back a the best possible time for them

Last 3...4 games of yr in west gonna be interesting indeed

It's too bad the Bombers couldn't find a way to hold on vs Calgary in the third game and win one of the back-to-back with the Riders. As it is I don't think the Riders have it in them to lose out and let the Bombers sneak into first... but I do think the Bombers end up with a home playoff game.

Weather gonna start dropping next week. That means Brady ball. Bombers set up pretty good I think. And you gotta think Brady is raring to go. Less than 100 carries behind last seasons total now. Dudes actually having a strong year. Almost at 1000 yards now running and most receiving yards in his career. Should actually be in the mop conversation

It's too bad as long as Rourke is a top 4 QB he is going to suck up all the MOC talk as well.

Brady is on a 2000 yards from scrimmage pace again. He is 13 yards back from the YOS lead and he's played 2.9 less games than Rankin. BC and Edmonton defenses were a mess in those games he missed as well. Only thing he is really missing is the touchdowns that Streveler loves to vulture

Is anyone super familiar with the nuances of CFL Scoring.

From the teams stat package, this is how the final play of the second half was scored

(00:03) Shotgun #19 B.Mitchell pass incomplete short middle to #89 K.Lawler thrown to WPG-03 broken up by #1 D.Nichols, TURNOVER ON DOWNS.

On that play, it was tipped at the line of scrimmage (by WJ I think) and then Lawler was tackled and initially a flag was thrown but was picked up due to it being tipped.

Does a tipped at the LOS ball not get counted as a knockdown? It looks like the KD was awarded to Nichols. It also looks like because this happened at the end of the half, the Bombers didn't get credited with a turnover generated? The team stats package again has Hamilton at 1 turnover (on downs), which again happened in the 4th. The League Stats aggregation has the Bombers TO ratio moving from -9 to -8, so they think only 1 turnover happened as well. The 'result' of the drive is also listed as 'End Half'

We would be in first. Which is wild. Two of those games were winnable as well.

Agreed Wheatfall is borderline useless.  If Mitchell is actually in shape and playing somewhat close to 100% he's a far more impactful player.

Neither guy has appeared to develop much chemistry with Collaros.

Totally agree with this. Not sure what people seem to think Wheatfall has that's so impressive.

Agree with both of you. Wheatfall looks good at times but has been very inconsistent and, from what I've seen, is not a very good blocker. And, he looks like a blade of wheat, legs too thin for the rest of his body. I don't think that it's much of a surprise that with the return of Wilson (and Stearns) and the insertion of Mitchell, the receiving corps is looking quite decent, IMO. Throw in a healthy Collaros and the opposition now have to show a little more "respect" for our guys.

While I don't think Wheatfall is useless, I do see that he has been a bit streaky.

We let Lawler go in the off-season, and for the first half of the season this looked like an epic mistake, especially since we heard the difference was a few 10k.

Then O. Wilson came back, and he has made an impact.

And let's not forget Mitchell - held off the roster for how many games?  Because he came to camp out of shape, or something like this - coaches know way more than us so gotta respect their decisions, but can still complain that he wasn't getting in to the line-up.  I sure was wondering why he didn't crack it for so long.  But now, he's coming on and making plays.  Maybe, just maybe, Osh and the coaches know what they are doing and did the right thing in holding him out long enough.

Stearns - I haven't followed him enough to have a take, but it sure seems this receiving corp is coming together.

And just when Zach is back, and finding his 2019 form...

(Okay, that last one was a flyer - he seriously looked back to 2019 form on Saturday, but it is one game, so I know that is a stretch.  Still, it's a stretch that I can hope for and get behind!)

I don’t even think that’s wheatfall is streaky, he’s off way too frequently for that. he’s a guy who the lights come on for occasionally and the rest of the time is bleh at best.
The guy had one big game last year, largely on one big catch, another good game on one big catch, and this year one big game and one good game based on one big catch. That’s 4 good +/- games based largely on 3 catches, in 21 starts.

If you take away his 3 biggest catch and runs, dude has no career. Hes a poor mans chris brazzell

Arguable that the coaches always know more than we do- I cite the choices of O'Shea and Hogan.

lol.  I'm pretty sure that if some MBB poster were on the sidelines calling the shots, the rest of MBB would be pining for the good old days of Tim Burke...
