The part I don’t get about this is I literally remember the days when GCn would talk about hearing things from players because of working in the hospitality industry.

I don’t get his obsession with doubting that players could talk to mere CITIZENS. I’ve had Wolitarsky in my basement for drinks, I’ve worked out at the same gym as Hefner, Suber and Willis. I’ve got to house parties at Swiston, Kowalczuk and Andre Douglas’ house when they all rented together. I’ve had to get Charlie Roberts a taxi home from the bar so he’d stop begging people for smokes. The stuff I’ve heard and the stuff you can hear as people around the city is out there. The interaction is there all the time, these guys aren’t millionaires with their own circles - they’re just dudes. Why is there so much doubt that Booch has similar access when we all know he’s got history coaching camps and being involved in training?

I had to get him home from teasers all too often

My stuff i share is more from a fraternity aspect (trust) and training..and training with players...and also connections with guys involved in player prep and recruitment/scouting from collegiate level

O’Shea sees himself in Jake. A Canadian who has played a long long time. O’Shea didn’t go out on his own terms did he. Maybe he thinks Jake should. I think it’s probably that simple. It’s about having respect for the veteran but not having the heart to tell him it’s over cuz maybe O’Shea didn’t know when it was over for him. But he did release him years ago. Brought him back but did let him go so I’m not sure. Intangibles I guess. But I’m not sure we losing games cuz of Jake honestly. We losing cuz our O sucks.

Oshea tho...was talented as a player lol

Play clock moving to 35 seconds.

No more same sideline benches.

Rouge stays but modified - only a point for taking a knee or failing to return the ball out of the endzone.  Sailing the ball through is not rewarded.

35 seconds but started right away instead of by the ref, so probably a wash.

Most exciting play from last week (missed field goal return) completely gone.

Width needed to stay...pooching 10 yards but moving posts back with standard endzones...I don't mind

Moving the posts back basically dictates you had to shorten the endzones and the field.

We will see if the benefits outweigh the loss of the excitement of field goal returns. Might see longer field goals tried more often since there is almost no risk now.

No it’s not. It’s still there. He can return a miss for a TD but a miss won’t be worth 1 point if it sails through the end zone. Essentially eliminating the point given to missing the fg unless ball carrier trying to return (Vaval) is tackled in end zone.

in my mind this ain’t significant at all and will draw no new viewers.

So what,  he is going to catch it in the fifth row?

Limited Rouge - stupid decision

Limiting the rouge on field goals basically had to happen with the goal posts moved back. They could have kept it for punts.

I didn’t watch the presser, but I think you can still return a missed FG…. It would have to be short, I guess….

Yeah field goal returns will still be there...teams will still try 50 yard plus kicks

The post moving tho was a long time coming really...and it definitely opens up whole endzone and will increase scoring...

I always hated rouge fir a miss or kicked out of bounds too

These changes are all fine by me...and like he said..  powers that be wanted it...wasn't forced

How many field goals are going to be returnable with the goal posts in the back? Very few.

My least fav adjustment is the 35 second play clock. I would’ve been fine with it if they dropped it to 25 in the final 2 minutes of a game.

Only if its short, which is rare.

Right but nobody returns 1 kicked out of bounds so he can still return the short ones I guess. But moving the posts yeah, that’s about it. Can the legs and whytes kick 50 yd fgs now. Isn’t a 40 yard become 50 now? So 30 yards is now a 40 yd fg. Kickers will come up short.
